I’m on Georgetown in this one. I get the case to be made for Providence catching points as it can be hard to trust this Georgetown team with consistent performances. However, one win over Villanova (in a game I think had more to do with Villanova losing it than it did about Providence winning it) isn’t going to make me forget about the issues that Providence had defensively when Providence is a team that’s hung their hat on their defense for some time now. Georgetown’s played their best basketball at home this season and side by side, I think they’re the more talented team by a fair margin so I’ll lay the points with the Hoyas in this one.

I’m on the over in this game. That being said, the offense hasn’t dipped, as Duke’s still scoring 80+ PPG in conference play this year and 82+ PPG at home this season. The only reason the Cal game didn’t go over was because Cal was held to 57 points, but this is still a decent Stanford offense and I don’t know if Duke will have an answer for a tower like Maxime Reynaud. I’m on Villanova here. Let’s face it. The last two years have been pain for the Villanova program, and this season feels like the closest that the Wildcats have come to the NCAA tournament by a fair margin and I think that Villanova knows they can ill afford to slip up here if this team is serious about breaking that drought and getting back to the Big Dance. Providence is in a tailspin right now because the defense that the Friars have been able to lean on for so long now looks frail and inconsistent, and I think that Villanova takes advantage, even in a sandwich spot off of the win against St. John’s before games against UConn and Marquette.
