The Loyola Marymount Lions and the Santa Clara Broncos meet Thursday in college basketball action from Leavey Center. Here’s a Santa Clara vs Loyola Marymount prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Santa Clara vs Loyola Marymount pick.

Loyola Marymount Lions Betting Preview

So far this year Loyola Marymount has had a few rough runs. In all however, the Lions have been able to keep their heads above the .500 mark in the record column. LMU opened on a 3-4 stretch with losses to UC Irvine, Saint Louis, North Dakota and Colorado State alongside wins over Life Pacific, Belmont and Wyoming. After wins over Nevada, Prairie View, UC Santa Barbara, Southern and North Alabama, the Lions hit a 1-4 run with a lone win over Oregon State. The losses otherwise were versus San Francisco, Washington State, Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s. LMU would beat Santa Clara, San Diego, Pacific, Portland and San Diego in the next five, and since then it’s been a 1-4 run with a win over Pepperdine. The Lions have otherwise lost to Gonzaga, San Francisco, Pacific and Portland in that time, giving the team a 15-12 record through their first 27 outings of the season.

LMU was down by one point at halftime in their last outing versus Portland. The Lions ended up falling further behind in the second with a 57-47 deficit and lost the game 89-78 in the end. Leading the team in the losing effort was Caleb Stone-Carrawell with 18 points and five rebounds in 36 minutes of work. Will Johnston added 17 points with three assists and two boards, while Jevon Porter had 16 points with six rebounds in 35 minutes out there.

Santa Clara Broncos Betting Preview

Over on the Santa Clara side, they’ve got a rough spot or two in the books themselves but overall they’re not doing too badly. The Broncos opened on a 3-5 run though, taking losses to Arizona State, North Dakota State, Nevada and Stanford. A win streak over McNeese, Fresno State, Bradley, Kennesaw State, South Dakota and Pepperdine came next, then a 5-4 run with losses to San Francisco, LMU, Oregon State and Saint Mary’s. The Broncos otherwise beat San Diego, Oregon State, San Francisco, Gonzaga and Washington State in that time. Since then it’s been wins over Pacific, Portland and San Diego before a loss to Saint Mary’s. That gives the Broncos a 17-10 overall record though their first 27 games this season so far.

Matched up against Saint Mary’s on the road last week, the Broncos were down by seven going into the second half. Santa Clara didn’t get any better from there on a 36-34 deficit and took the loss 73-64. Johnny O’Neil led the team with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Jake Ensminger led the bench scoring with 13 points, three boards and three steals, while Camaron Tongue had 11 points with two rebounds in 14 minutes on the floor.

Why the Santa Clara Broncos will win

  • Santa Clara has won each of its last 15 Thursday games at Leavey Center.
  • Loyola Marymount has lost four of its last five games.
  • Loyola Marymount has lost the first half in six of its last seven road night games against the West Coast Conference.

Why the Loyola Marymount Lions will win

  • Loyola Marymount has won three of its last four games against Santa Clara following a road loss.
  • Loyola Marymount has won the first half in four of its last five games at Leavey Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Santa Clara vs Loyola Marymount Prediction

I’m staying with Santa Clara. The Broncos are coming off a pretty limp loss on the road versus a good Saint Mary’s team though, so they’ll need to show some life here. Santa Clara shot just 40.4 percent from the field in that one with a 31-28 rebounding deficit and 12 turnovers for 15 Gaels points. The Broncos gave up 53.2 percent shooting on the other side and just couldn’t keep pace. Santa Clara had won three straight prior to that though, with 83 or more points in all three games.

The Broncos managed to take a 57-54 loss on the road the last time these teams saw each other back on January 16. Santa Clara shot just 36.2 percent from the field in that one and had 13 turnovers for 12 LMU points, so needless to say there’s plenty to clean up. I like the Broncos to notch a better effort in the home rematch, though.

The Wichita State Shockers and the Florida Atlantic Owls meet Thursday in college basketball action from Eleanor R Baldwin Arena. Here’s a Florida Atlantic vs Wichita State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Florida Atlantic vs Wichita State pick.

Wichita State Shockers Betting Preview

Wichita State had an extended rough stretch of games back in December and January, but aside from that they’ve been pretty good record-wise this year. The Shockers won eight of their first nine games, taking out Western Kentucky, Montana State, Northern Iowa, Monmouth, Saint Louis, Minnesota, Alcorn State and East Tennessee State in that time. A 3-9 run came next with wins over Kansas State, Friends U and Charlotte. The losses otherwise were versus DePaul, Kansas City, Temple, South Florida, UTSA, East Carolina, Memphis, Tulsa and North Texas. Since then Wichita State has recovered with four straight wins, taking out Charlotte, South Florida, UTSA and Memphis in that time. Overall through the first 25 games of the season that gives the Shockers a 15-10 record so far.

In the Memphis home rematch on Sunday, the Shockers were up by four points at the break. Wichita State needed overtime in the end, but they’d eventually power out the upset victory 84-79. Leading the team in the big win was Quincy Ballard with 19 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Corey Washington doubled up with his 18 points and 15 rebounds in 41 minutes, while Bijan Cortes had 13 points with six rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes. Tops in scoring off the bench was Harlond Beverly with 11 points, six assists and two blocks.

Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

Over on the Florida Atlantic side, they’ve had a pretty choppy year in spots but they’ve been able to maintain the same record in the books. The Owls went 4-5 in their first nine outings, falling versus UCF, Charleston, Drake, Seton Hall and Florida Gulf Coast among wins versus Indiana State, Coastal Georgia, Liberty and Oklahoma State. A 5-2 run came next with losses to Michigan State and Memphis among wins over FIU, Jacksonville, Texas State, East Carolina and Charlotte. After a 1-3 run with a win over Rice among losses to UAB, Tulane and North Texas, Florida Atlantic hit a win streak. Those victories have come versus UTSA, South Florida, Tulsa, Charlotte and Temple, giving the Owls a 15-10 record through 25 games this season.

Matched up against Temple on Sunday, the Owls held a 40-35 deficit coming into the second half. FAU hit a 48-41 run the rest of the way however, leading to an 83-81 comeback victory. Tre Carroll led the way among starters in the win with 16 points, seven boards and one assist with four blocks. Tops on the team in total was Kaleb Glenn with 17 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 32 minutes off the bench. Leland Walker added 12 points with two assists and two steals in 21 minutes of work as well.

Why the Florida Atlantic Owls will win

  • Florida Atlantic has won 38 of its last 41 games at Abessinio Court at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Wichita State has lost eight of its last nine Thursday night road games against the American Athletic Conference.
  • Florida Atlantic has won the first half in each of its last eight night games at Abessinio Court at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the Wichita State Shockers will win

  • Wichita State has won each of its last four games.
  • Wichita State has won the first half in seven of its last eight road night games against the American Athletic Conference.

Florida Atlantic vs Wichita State Prediction

I’ll try Florida Atlantic here. You could make a case either way, though. This should be a pretty good matchup if both teams play to their capabilities. FAU started slowly in their latest road win over Temple, but ultimately finished with a decent effort. The Owls went just 5-of-24 (20.8 percent) from the line though, and had 12 turnovers for 15 Temple points. Still, the victory keeps FAU’s run going. They’ve now got five wins in a row, hitting 79 or more points in each of those outings (and 83 or more in four of them).

As for Wichita State, they logged a great effort versus a talented Memphis team in their upset win Over the weekend. The Shockers hit just 40 percent from the field but also notched a 54-45 rebounding edge and had only eight turnovers. This should be another dramatic game, but I like the Owls to take it at home in the end.

The New Hampshire Wildcats and the Binghamton Bearcats meet Thursday in college basketball action from Binghamton University Events Center. Here’s a Binghamton vs New Hampshire prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Binghamton vs New Hampshire pick.

New Hampshire Wildcats Betting Preview

It’s been a tough year so far for New Hampshire. Prior to this month the Wildcats had only one instance of consecutive wins, but they’ve been doing better lately. New Hampshire opened up the season on a 2-6 run though, taking losses to UMass, UConn, Fairfield, Brown, Sacred Heart and Holy Cross. A losing streak versus Marist, Columbia, Fordham, Dartmouth, Harvard, Stonehill, Iowa, Vermont and Albany came next, then wins over Binghamton and UMBC. After losses to NJIT, Bryant, UMass Lowell and Maine, the Wildcats have since gone 3-1 with a lone loss to Vermont. The wins otherwise in that time have come courtesy of UMBC, NJIT and UMass Lowell. That gives New Hampshire a 7-20 overall run through 27 games this year.

In the UMass Lowell matchup back on Saturday, the Wildcats came out of the break with a 38-28 deficit. New Hampshire woke up after the first half though, hitting a 52-41 run the rest of the way for an 80-79 comeback victory. Leading the team in scoring was Sami Pissis with 21 points, six assists, two steals and two rebounds. Khalil Badru had 13 points with four rebounds and two steals, while Jawarie Hamelin added 11 points with four steals. Anthony McComb led the bench scoring with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of action.

Binghamton Bearcats Betting Preview

Over on the Binghamton side, they had a good run going back in December, but aside from that it’s been a struggle this season in the record column. The Bearcats opened on a 2-6 run as well with losses to Penn Sate, Miami, Fordham, Longwood, Central Connecticut and Niagara. A nice 7-1 stretch came next with wins over Long Island U, Lafayette, Le Moyne, Lancaster Bible College, Mercyhurst, Army and UMBC (with a loss to Marist), then losses to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Albany and Bryant. It’s been a 4-2 stretch over the last half dozen games though, as Binghamton has dispatched Vermont, Albany, UMass Lowell and NJIT with losses to Bryant and UMBC. So far that gives the Bearcats a 13-14 overall run through 27 outings.

Matched up against NJIT in their Saturday outing, the Bearcats were in the locker room with a three-point edge. Binghamton ended up needing overtime, but in the end they secured a 75-71 victory. Nehemiah Benson put up 20 points with 11 rebounds and two assists. Gavin Walsh also doubled up with his 17 points and 16 rebounds with two assists. Both Chris Walker (nine rebounds; three assists) and Wes Peterson (seven rebounds; four steals) added 11 points each, while Ben Callahan-Gold chipped in eight bench points with six boards.

Why the Binghamton Bearcats will win

  • Binghamton has won each of its last seven home games following a road win.
  • New Hampshire has lost nine of its last 10 road games against the America East Conference.
  • New Hampshire has lost the first half in each of its last eight games against the America East Conference.

Why the New Hampshire Wildcats will win

  • New Hampshire has won three of its last four games.
  • The road team has won the first half in four of the last five games between New Hampshire and Binghamton.

Binghamton vs New Hampshire Prediction

I’ll stick with Binghamton. The bad news here is that there’s not a lot to get excited about if you’re not a fan of either team. The good news is that it should be a competitive matchup. Binghamton is coming off a tight win over a struggling NJIT team, shooting an ugly 0-of-15 from 3-point range with 15 turnovers along the way. The win still counts though, and that makes four in the last six games for the Bearcats.

These teams last saw each other back on January 11, in a 79-72 road loss for Binghamton. In that one the Bearcats shot a tepid 41.4 percent from the field with 11 turnovers and got outscored 42-30 in the second half. There’s plenty for the Bearcats to clean up in the rematch, but I think the familiar home surroundings will help.

The New Mexico Lobos and the Boise State Broncos meet Wednesday in college basketball action from ExtraMile Arena. Here’s a Boise State vs New Mexico prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Boise State vs New Mexico pick.

New Mexico Lobos Betting Preview

Record-wise the Lobos have done a great job this year, with only a few scattered losses in the books. New Mexico went 7-3 over their first 10 outings with losses to St. John’s, Arizona State, and New Mexico State among wins over Nicholls, UCLA, Texas A&M-CC, Grambling, Texas Southern, USC, and San Jose State. After a win streak over Western New Mexico, VCU, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, Wyoming, and San Diego State, the Lobos fell versus San Jose State. Since then it’s been another win streak as New Mexico has dispatched Boise State, Fresno State, UNLV, Utah State, Colorado State, Air Force, Wyoming, and Utah State. That gives the Lobos a 22-4 overall record through their first 26 outings of the season.

In the Utah State matchup on Sunday, the Lobos came out of the locker room with a 42-36 deficit. New Mexico came alive in the second half on a 46-37 run though, eventually taking the win 82-79. Leading the team in scoring along the way was Tru Washington with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Donovan Dent added 23 points with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Nelly Junior Joseph had 15 points with five rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Filip Borovicanin added 11 points with five boards and two assists.

Boise State Broncos Betting Preview

Over on the Boise State side, they had a choppy run going last month but otherwise, they’ve done quite well themselves. The Broncos went 6-3 in their first nine with losses to San Francisco, Boston College, and Washington State among wins over Oakland, Corban College, Clemson, Hampton, South Dakota State, and Utah Tech. Boise State beat Saint Mary’s, Texas Southern, Air Force, San Jose State, and Wyoming in the next five, then hit a 2-4 run with wins over only UNLV and Wyoming. The losses otherwise in that time came versus San Diego State, Utah State, New Mexico, and Colorado State. After wins versus Nevada, Fresno State, UNLV, and San Jose State, the Broncos took another loss to San Diego State. In total that gives Boise State a 17-8 overall record so far through 25 games this year.

Matched up against San Diego State in their Saturday outing, the Broncos were in trouble at the break on a 28-18 deficit. Boise State didn’t get any closer after a 36-29 second half and took the loss at the end 64-47. Tyson Degenhart was the team’s only double-digit scorer, notching 17 points with 12 boards and one assist. Alvaro Cardenas added eight points and three assists in 39 minutes, while Pearson Carmichael put up seven points off the bench.

Why the Boise State Broncos will win

  • Boise State has won 38 of its last 40 night games against the Mountain West Conference at ExtraMile Arena.
  • New Mexico has lost each of its last six games at ExtraMile Arena.
  • Boise State has won the first half in each of its last eight night games at ExtraMile Arena.

Why the New Mexico Lobos will win

  • New Mexico has won 18 of its last 19 games against the Mountain West Conference.
  • The road team has won the first half in each of New Mexico’s last three games.

Boise State vs New Mexico Prediction

I’m going to lean toward the Lobos. New Mexico got off to something of a slow start in their latest win over Utah State, but everything worked out in the end. The Lobos shot 46.2 percent from the field with a 35-27 rebounding advantage, but it was a sloppy game overall. New Mexico committed 14 of the 28 total turnovers, which turned into 19 Utah State points. That makes eight straight wins for the Lobos now, with 71 or more points scored in each game.

New Mexico kicked off this current win streak with an 84-65 victory over Boise State in a home matchup back on January 17. The Lobos shot a nice 54.4 percent from the field in that one with 20 points off 17 Broncos turnovers. Boise State should play better in the home rematch (with fewer mistakes), but I still like New Mexico to keep their current run going.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Missouri Tigers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Mizzou Arena. Here’s a Missouri vs Alabama prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Missouri vs Alabama pick.

Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Preview

The Crimson Tide have done quite well this year overall, with only a few scattered losses versus some difficult opponents in the books. Alabama opened up on a 6-2 run with losses to Purdue and Oregon among wins versus UNC Asheville, Arkansas State, McNeese State, Illinois, Houston, and Rutgers. A win streak over North Carolina, Creighton, North Dakota, Kent State, South Dakota State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas A&M came next, then a loss to Ole Miss. The Tide would then take out Kentucky, Vanderbilt, LSU, Mississippi State, Georgia, Arkansas, and Texas over the next seven games before a loss to rival Auburn. Overall that gives the Crimson Tide a 21-4 record in their first 25 games of the year so far.

Matched up against Auburn in their Saturday outing, the Tide were down 42-33 going into the second half. Alabama held the pace from there on a 52-52 run but still took the loss at the end 94-85. Mark Sears led the way in the losing effort with 18 points and two assists, while Grant Nelson doubled up on 12 points with 12 boards and one assist. Clifford Omoruyi had 12 rebounds and eight points, while both Labaron Philon and Aden Holloway led the bench scoring 10 points apiece.

Missouri Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Tigers’ side, they’ve had quite the solid season themselves with relatively few losses. Missouri fell to Memphis in their opener then took out Howard, Eastern Washington, MS Valley State, Pacific, AR-Pine Bluff, Lindenwood, Cal, Kansas, Long Island U, and Jacksonville State. A 1-2 run with a win over Alabama State in between losses to Illinois and Auburn came next, then wins over LSU, Vanderbilt, Florida, and Arkansas. After another loss to Texas, the Tigers hit a 4-2 run. Those losses were versus Tennessee and Texas A&M. Otherwise it was wins over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and Georgia in that time. The result so far has been a 19-6 overall run across the first 25 games of the season.

In the Georgia matchup on Saturday, the Tigers opened up on a 41-38 deficit in the first half. Missouri woke up from there on a 49-33 run and took the eventual win at the end 87-74, however. Anthony Robinson led the starters with 15 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals in 26 minutes. Caleb Grill also had 15 points off the bench alongside five rebounds and four steals in 28 minutes on the floor. Mark Mitchell added 14 points with five rebounds and two assists, and Tamar Bates chipped in 13 points with three boards.

Why the Missouri Tigers will win

  • Missouri has won each of its last 10 night games at Mizzou Arena.
  • Alabama has lost three of its last four games at Mizzou Arena.
  • Missouri has won the first half in nine of its last 10 night games at Mizzou Arena.

Why the Alabama Crimson Tide will win

  • Alabama has won each of its last eight road games.
  • Missouri has lost nine of its last 10 night games against Top 5 AP-ranked opponents.
  • Alabama has won the first half in each of its last six road games against the Southeastern Conference.

Missouri vs Alabama Prediction

I’m going to stick with Alabama here. The Tide are coming off a rough loss to a very good Auburn team though, and they’ll need to get back on the horse quickly. Alabama shot just 38.6 percent from the field and 19.2 percent (5-of-26) from 3-point range in that defeat, giving up 46.2 percent on the other side. The good news is that the Tide were good on the boards with a 49-40 edge and had just seven turnovers. Alabama has scored 80 or more points in eight straight games now, a 7-1 overall run.

As for Missouri, they started pretty slowly against Georgia but everything worked out well in the end. The Tigers did give up 52.5 percent shooting in the win, though. Missouri has now scored a combined 169 points in their last pair of games, and they’ll likely need to keep that going if they’re going to steal a win here. I like a competitive matchup overall but in the end, I think Alabama takes the cover. Should be a fun one to watch.

The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Kentucky Wildcats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Rupp Arena. Here’s a Kentucky vs Vanderbilt prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Kentucky vs Vanderbilt pick.

Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview

Vanderbilt got off to a great start this year, but they’ve been choppy since early January amid some tough matchups. The Commodores beat MD Eastern Shore, Southeast Missouri State, Cal, Jackson State, Nevada, and Seton Hall out of the gate in their first six before a loss to Drake. Wins over Tennessee Tech, Virginia Tech, TCU, the Citadel, Austin Peay, New Orleans, and LSU came next, then losses to Mississippi State and Missouri. Since then it’s been a 4-5 run for the Commodores with wins over South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas. The losses otherwise have come versus Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida, Auburn and Tennessee. That gives the Commodores a 17-8 overall run through their first 25 outings of the season.

In the Tennessee matchup on Saturday, the Commodores opened the game with a 44-31 advantage. Vanderbilt was outscored 50-32 the rest of the way however, and ended up losing 81-76 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jason Edwards with 24 points, one rebound, and one steal. Jaylen Carey was the only other player on the team to finish in double-figures, notching 18 points with seven rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes of work off the bench. Both Tyler Nickel and Chris Manon chipped in nine points each as well.

Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview

Over on the Kentucky side, they similarly began the year on a great run but started faltering a bit in mid-January. The Wildcats went 14-3 over their first 17 outings, falling to only Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia. Kentucky beat Wright State, Bucknell, Duke, Lipscomb, Jackson State, Western Kentucky, Georgia State, Gonzaga, Colgate, Louisville, Brown, Florida, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M otherwise during that time. Since then the Wildcats are just 3-5 in their last eight outings. The wins were over Tennessee, South Carolina, and Tennessee again. The losses came versus Alabama, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Texas. The result so far has been a 17-8 overall record through 25 games this year also.

Matched up against Texas on the road Saturday, the Wildcats were looking good after the first half with a 41-37 edge. Kentucky was outscored 45-37 from there, however, and ended up falling 82-78 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Otega Oweh with 20 points and five rebounds with a pair of steals. Amari Williams managed to double up with 18 points, 12 boards, and three assists, while Ansley Almonor added 11 points with three rebounds and one assist.

Why the Kentucky Wildcats will win

  • Vanderbilt has lost each of its last nine night games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Kentucky has won 13 of its last 14 games at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Kentucky has won the first half in 19 of its last 20 night games at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the Vanderbilt Commodores will win

  • Kentucky has lost each of its last four night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • The road team has won the first half in each of Vanderbilt’s last five games.

Kentucky vs Vanderbilt Prediction

I’m going to lean toward Kentucky here. We should have a pretty good matchup on our hands regardless, though. The Wildcats are coming off a tough road loss versus a talented Texas team thanks to a slow second half. Kentucky was competitive on the boards in that one but shot a tepid 41.9 percent from the field with 15 turnovers for 21 Longhorns points. The Wildcats will be happy to get back home following four road games in their last seven outings (and two more road games within the next week).

Kentucky took a 74-69 road loss the last time these teams met up back on January 25. The Wildcats had a pretty miserable first half in that one (a 41-27 deficit) and couldn’t dig out of the hole. The rebounding was good for Kentucky (43-30), but they got into turnover trouble with 17 for 14 Commodores points. The Wildcats absolutely must remedy their ball control issues ahead of this matchup or they’re going to suffer a similar fate. With a home game and a revenge aspect to this one though, I like Kentucky to power it out.

The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the East Tennessee State meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Freedom Hall Civic Center. Here’s an East Tennessee State vs UNC Greensboro prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best East Tennessee State vs UNC Greensboro pick.

UNC Greensboro Spartans Betting Preview

The Spartans had a pretty middling run to start the season, but they’ve been looking much better since late December. UNC Greensboro kicked things off with a 6-6 record, taking wins over Florida Gulf Coast, NC Wesleyan, Long Beach State, High Point, North Carolina A&T, and William Peace in that time. The losses otherwise were versus SMU, Indiana, San Jose State, UTEP, North Florida, and Elon. UNC Greensboro would hit an 8-3 run in the next 11 with losses to Samford, Mercer, and Wofford. The wins came courtesy of Virginia Lynchburg, Wofford, Furman, Chattanooga, the Citadel, Western Carolina, VMI, and East Tennessee State otherwise. Since then the Spartans have toppled the Citadel, Western Carolina, VMI, and Furman in their last four, giving the team an 18-9 overall record through 27 games this year so far.

In the Furman game last weekend, the Spartans came out of the gate with a 28-24 edge in the first half. The Spartans maintained form from there on a 30-26 run and took the victory 58-50 in the end. Kenyon Giles led the team with 19 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Ronald Polite added 15 points with five boards and five assists with one steal in 34 minutes as the only other player on the team to finish in double-figures. Tops off the bench was Malik Henry with six points, four boards, and three blocks to his name in 21 minutes of action.

East Tennessee State Buccaneers Betting Preview

Over on the East Tennessee State side, they’ve had a couple of good runs this year but overall it’s been a choppy run. The Bucs kicked off with a 6-2 stretch with wins over Newberry, Tusculum, USC Upstate, Queens U, Charlotte, and Austin Peay among losses to Eastern Kentucky and Davidson. A 2-5 stretch came next with wins over Elon and VMI among losses to James Madison, Wichita State, Jacksonville, Kansas City, and Wofford. ETSU beat Mercer, the Citadel, Samford, Western Carolina, Furman, VMI, and Samford again in the next 10 games with losses to Furman, Chattanooga, and UNC Greensboro otherwise. Since then it’s been a pair of losses to Western Carolina and Chattanooga. Overall through 27 games so far that gives the Buccaneers a 15-12 record in the books.

Matched up against Chattanooga on Saturday, the Buccaneers were down by six points going into the second half. East Tennessee State didn’t end up getting any closer than that, hitting a 42-41 deficit on the way to a 78-71 loss. Quimari Peterson led the team on 31 points with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. DJ Hughes added 11 points with nine rebounds and one assist with one block, and Maki Johnson put up 10 points with four rebounds. Davion Bradford had three of the five bench points with one rebound in six minutes of work.

Why the East Tennessee State Buccaneers will win

  • East Tennessee State has won each of its last four night games at Freedom Hall Civic Center.
  • North Carolina-Greensboro has lost the first half in each of its last four games at Freedom Hall Civic Center.

Why the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans will win

  • North Carolina-Greensboro has won each of its last six road night games against the Southern Conference.
  • East Tennessee State has lost three of its last four night games.
  • North Carolina-Greensboro has won the first half in each of its last 18 Wednesday night games against the Southern Conference.

East Tennessee State vs UNC Greensboro Prediction

I’ll stay with the Spartans here. UNC Greensboro dispatched a pretty good Furman team on the road in their last appearance, though it was something of an odd game. The Spartans shot just 39.3 percent from the field, however, they held the Paladins to just 26.8 percent on the other side. The Spartans were careful with the ball on just eight turnovers, but those morphed into a sizable 12 points for Furman. In any case, UNCG has now won four straight games with 74 or more points scored in three of those.

The Spartans took a 70-65 home win back on January 29 when these teams last met up. I’d like to see some more scoring in the road rematch, but UNC Greensboro should be okay.

The Texas A&M Aggies and the Mississippi State Bulldogs meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Humphrey Coliseum. Here’s a Mississippi State vs Texas A&M prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Mississippi State vs Texas A&M pick.

Texas A&M Aggies Betting Preview

The Aggies have been a highly consistent team so far this year. They’ve got just one instance of consecutive losses in the books. Texas A&M started out on a 4-2 run with wins over East Texas A&M, Lamar, Ohio State, and Southern during that time. The Aggies would hit a winning streak after that, taking out Creighton, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, Purdue, Houston Christian, Abilene Christian, Texas, and Oklahoma. Following losses to Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas over the next five games (with wins over LSU and Ole Miss in that time), the Aggies have since won another five straight. Those victories have come courtesy of Oklahoma, South Carolina, Missouri, Georgia, and Arkansas in succession. Overall through 25 games that gives Texas A&M a 20-5 record so far this season.

In the Saturday matchup with Arkansas, Texas A&M was ahead 33-28 by the break. The Aggies came out of the locker room to a 36-33 advantage and took the eventual win 69-61 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Wade Taylor with 18 points, nine assists, three steals, and one rebound in 35 minutes. Zhuric Phelps added 12 points with nine rebounds and four steals with one assist, and Andersson Garcia led the bench scoring with his 11 points, three assists, five rebounds, and two steals in 26 minutes of work on the floor.

Mississippi State Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the Mississippi State side, they were looking great in the record column back in early January but since then they’ve struggled amid some tough matchups. The Bulldogs lost just one of their first 15 games (versus Butler). Otherwise, it was wins over West Georgia, Georgia State, SE Louisiana, Utah, SMU, UNLV, Pitt, Prairie View, McNeese, Central Michigan, Memphis, Bethune-Cookman, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt in that time. Since then it’s been a 4-6 run across the last 10 games for the Bulldogs. The wins have come over Ole Miss, South Carolina, Georgia, and Ole Miss again. Otherwise, it was losses to Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, and Florida at that time. That gives the Bulldogs an 18-7 record so far through their first 25 games of the 2024-25 campaign.

Matched up against Ole Miss in the road rematch over the weekend, the Bulldogs held a 40-33 edge in the locker room. Mississippi State kept it up from there with a 41-38 run and took the eventual win 81-71. RJ Melendez led the team in scoring with 17 points, five rebounds, and a steal. Josh Hubbard bagged 14 points with five rebounds and four assists, and Riley Kugel had 11 points with three rebounds, three assists, and four steals. KeShawn Murphy and Claudell Harris each had 10 points off the bench as well.

Why the Mississippi State Bulldogs will win

  • The home team has won each of the last three games between Texas A&M and Mississippi State.
  • Texas A&M has lost three of its last four games at Humphrey Coliseum.
  • Texas A&M has lost the first half in each of its last four games at Humphrey Coliseum.

Why the Texas A&M Aggies will win

  • Mississippi State has lost each of its last six night games against Top 10 AP-ranked opponents.
  • The road team has won each of Mississippi State’s last six games.
  • Texas A&M has won the first half in five of its last six games against the Southeastern Conference.

Mississippi State vs Texas A&M Prediction

I’ll take a stab at Mississippi State here. You could make an argument either way, though; we should have a fun matchup in-store. The Bulldogs put up another solid win over a good Ole Miss team in their last outing, posting a 48-36 rebounding edge, 38.3 percent shooting allowed from the field, and 15 points off 11 turnovers. It wasn’t perfect though, as the Bulldogs missed nine of their 27 free throws (66.7 percent) and had 13 turnovers themselves. Still, it was a nice bounce-back after a double-digit loss at home versus Florida last week.

As for Texas A&M, they’re sitting on a five-game win streak but they’ve been below 70 points in three straight games. This one’s looking like a pretty close fight, and I like Mississippi State to power it out in the end.

The Virginia Tech Hokies and the Boston College Eagles meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Conte Forum. Here’s a Boston College vs Virginia Tech prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Boston College vs Virginia Tech pick.

Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Preview

It’s been a choppy run overall in the record books for the Hokies so far, and they’re currently sitting below the .500 mark overall. Virginia Tech opened on a 5-8 run through their first 13 outings, beating only Delaware State, USC Upstate, Winthrop, North Carolina A&T, and Navy among losses to Penn State, Jacksonville, Michigan, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Pitt, Saint Joseph’s and Duke. A 3-4 run came next with wins over Miami, Cal, and NC State among losses to Stanford, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and Clemson. Since then it’s been a 3-2 run over the last five outings with wins over Florida State, Virginia, and Notre Dame. The losses otherwise have come versus SMU and Virginia. That gives Virginia Tech an 11-14 overall run through their first 25 games of the 2024-25 campaign.

In their Saturday matchup with Virginia, the Hokies were down by seven points heading into the second half. Virginia Tech got better from there on a 37-33 run but ended up taking the loss at the end 73-70. Leading the team in the defeat was Tobi Lawal with his 23 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Ben Hammond added 11 points with three assists in 26 minutes as the only other player on the team to finish in double-figures. Tyler Johnson got close though, putting up nine points with four boards and a pair of steals in the loss.

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

Over on the Boston College side, they weren’t looking too bad heading into the 2025 calendar year, but since then it’s been a pretty ugly run. The Eagles went 9-5 over their first 14 games, losing to VCU, Dartmouth, South Carolina, Wake Forest and SMU. The wins otherwise were over the Citadel, Temple, Loyola MD, Old Dominion, Missouri State, Boise State, Stonehill, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Miami during that time. Since then Boston College has just one win versus Florida State on February 1. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and NC State. That gives the Eagles a 10-15 overall run through their first 25 outings of the season.

Matched up against NC State on Saturday, the Eagles came out of the locker room facing a 44-29 deficit. Boston College got better from there on a 33-26 run but ended up losing in the end 70-62. Tops in scoring was Donald Hand with 22 points, six rebounds, and three turnovers in 35 minutes of work. Chad Venning added 14 points with eight rebounds and one steal with one block. Chas Kelley put up 10 points, four assists, and two rebounds off the bench as well.

Why the Boston College Eagles will win

  • Boston College has won five of its last six games against Virginia Tech.
  • Virginia Tech has lost each of its last three games at Silvio O. Conte Forum.
  • The home team has won the first half in each of Boston College’s last three games.

Why the Virginia Tech Hokies will win

  • Boston College has lost each of its last six night games.
  • The road team has won each of Virginia Tech’s last six games.
  • Boston College has lost the first half in eight of its last nine games against the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Boston College vs Virginia Tech Prediction

I’ll lean toward Virginia Tech I suppose. The Hokies are coming off a home loss to a middling Virginia team though, despite hitting 46 percent from the field and staying pretty competitive on the boards. Virginia Tech coughed up 10 turnovers for 17 Cavaliers points though, which is what really buried them in the defeat. The good news is that Virginia Tech is still scoring pretty well these days; they’ve got 70 or more points in four of the last five outings—a 3-2 run.

As for Boston College, they never really got going in their latest loss to NC State, notching a rough 35.4 percent shooting and 16 turnovers for 15 Wolfpack points. That makes four straight losses for the Eagles, but they’ve been competitive in a couple of those. Still, I don’t think they’ll power past Virginia Tech.

The Butler Bulldogs and the Xavier Musketeers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Cintas Center. Here’s a Xavier vs Butler prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Xavier vs Butler pick.

Butler Bulldogs Betting Preview

Butler had an ugly losing streak that lasted most of December and into January, but outside of that, they’re doing pretty well overall this year. The Bulldogs went 7-1 in their first eight games with a lone loss to Austin Peay among wins over Missouri State, Western Michigan, SMU, Merrimack, Northwestern, Mississippi State, and Eastern Illinois in that time. Losses to Houston, North Dakota State, Wisconsin, Marquette, UConn, Villanova, St. John’s, Providence, and Creighton followed, then wins over Seton Hall and DePaul around another loss to UConn. Following two more losses to Marquette and Georgetown, the Bulldogs have since beaten Seton Hall, Providence, and Georgetown over their last trio. That gives Butler a sub-500 record of 12-13 through their first 25 games of the season so far.

In the Georgetown game on Saturday, the Bulldogs opened up on a 46-35 advantage in the first half. Butler kept the pace from there on a 51-51 run and took the victory in the end 97-86. Pierre Brooks led the team with 30 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals. Finley Bizjack added 15 points with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Tops off the bench was Landon Moore with his 13 points and six rebounds in 18 minutes of work.

Xavier Musketeers Betting Preview

Over on the Xavier side, they’ve had some mixed results in the record column but haven’t done too badly outside of a rough stretch in December. The Musketeers took out Texas Southern, IUPUI, Jackson State, Wake Forest, Siena, and South Carolina in their first six games, then hit a 3-7 run over the next 10 outings. The wins in that time were over South Carolina State, Morgan State, and Seton Hall. Otherwise, it was losses to Michigan, TCU, Cincinnati, UConn, Marquette, Georgetown and St. John’s. Since then Xavier has gone 7-3 over a 10-game span with losses to St. John’s, Creighton, and Villanova. The wins otherwise came versus DePaul, Villanova, Marquette, UConn, Georgetown, Providence, and DePaul in succession, giving the Musketeers a 16-10 overall run through their first 26 games this year.

In the home rematch versus DePaul on Saturday, the Musketeers came out of the locker room with a 45-31 advantage. Xavier kept it up in the second half with a 40-37 run and took the eventual victory 85-68 in the end. All five starters finished the game in double-figures, led by Zach Freemantle and his 19 points, nine rebounds, and one assist in 29 minutes. Dailyn Swain added 17 points with seven boards and eight assists, while both Ryan Conwell and Dayton McKnight had 14 points each. Marcus Foster chipped in 11 points as well.

Why the Xavier Musketeers will win

  • Xavier has won 12 of its last 13 games at Cintas Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Butler has lost seven of its last eight road night games against the Big East Conference.
  • Butler has lost the first half in each of its last four games at Cintas Center.

Why the Butler Bulldogs will win

  • Butler has won five of its last six games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Xavier has lost five of its last six games following a home win.
  • Butler has won the first half in each of its last six games against the Big East Conference.

Xavier vs Butler Prediction

I’ll lean toward Xavier here. The Musketeers dispatched DePaul without too much difficulty in their last outing, eventually shooting a very nice 58.8 percent from the field and 87.5 percent (21-of-24) from the line. Xavier had just nine turnovers while scoring 15 points off 13 DePaul turnovers on the other side. That makes a 3-1 run in the last four games for the Musketeers, and they’ve scored a combined 176 points in their last two outings.

As for Butler, they did well against a pretty decent Georgetown team in their last outing, shooting 57.7 percent from the field. The 14 turnovers for 19 Hoyas points got the Bulldogs into some trouble though, so they’ll have to watch the mistakes on Tuesday. Butler has scored 82 or more points in three straight games now, so this one could reach a fairly high total if both teams keep the shooting up.

The Kansas Jayhawks and the BYU Cougars meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Marriott Center. Here’s a BYU vs Kansas prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best BYU vs Kansas pick.

Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview

Kansas had a great run going into the middle of January, but they’ve been on quite a choppy run amid some tough matchups since then. The Jayhawks opened on a 12-3 run, falling to only Creighton, Missouri, and West Virginia in that time. The wins otherwise came versus Howard, North Carolina, Michigan State, Oakland, UNC Wilmington, Duke, Furman, NC State, Brown, UCF, Arizona State, and Cincinnati. Since then Kansas has gone just 5-5 over their last 10 outings. The losses were versus Iowa State, Houston, Baylor, Kansas State, and Utah. Otherwise, it was wins over Kansas State, TCU, UCF, Iowa State, and Colorado in that time. That gives the Jayhawks a 17-8 overall record through the first 25 games of the season.

In the Utah game on Saturday, the Jayhawks kicked off the first half with a two-point deficit. Kansas didn’t end up getting any closer than that, falling further behind on a 35-30 run and taking the eventual loss 74-67. Zeke Mayo led the team in the losing effort with his 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Dajuan Harris added 14 points with four rebounds and four assists, while Hunter Dickinson had 12 points with seven rebounds, four blocks, and three assists. Leading the team off the bench was Flory Bidunga with eight points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 20 minutes on the floor.

BYU Cougars Betting Preview

Over on the BYU side, they had a pretty rough run going last month but overall they’ve been pretty solid in the record column. The Cougars kicked things off on a 10-2 run with losses to Ole Miss and Providence amid wins otherwise versus Central Arkansas, UC Riverside, Queens U, Idaho, MS Valley State, NC State, Fresno State, Wyoming, Florida A&M, and Arizona State. A 1-4 run came next with a lone win over Oklahoma State amid losses to Houston, Texas Tech, TCU, and Utah. Since then it’s been a 6-2 stretch for BYU. The losses in that time were to Arizona and Cincinnati in consecutive games. Aside from that pair it was wins over Colorado, Cincinnati, Baylor, UCF, West Virginia, and Kansas State in that time. Overall through 25 games so far, BYU is currently 17-8 in the record books as well.

Matched up against Kansas State on Saturday, the Cougars were up 40-22 at the break. BYU kept the pace pretty well from there on a 43-40 deficit and took the win at the end 80-65. Richie Saunders led the way with his 17 points, 14 rebounds, two steals, and two assists for a double-double. Dallin Hal led the bench players with 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Fousseyni Traore had 11 points and four rebounds off the bench. Keba Keita chipped in nine points with 11 rebounds and five blocs as well.

Why the BYU Cougars will win

  • The home team has won each of Kansas’ last six games.
  • Kansas has lost four of its last five road games.
  • BYU has won the first half in 14 of its last 15 games at Marriott Center.

Why the Kansas Jayhawks will win

  • BYU has lost each of its last five games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Kansas has won each of its last four games following a road loss.
  • Kansas has won the first half in eight of its last nine Tuesday night games against the Big 12 Conference.

Total Points Facts

  • Seven of Kansas’ last eight road night games against Conference opponents have produced a total of 145 or fewer points.
  • Four of BYU’s last five night games against AP-ranked opponents have produced a total of 149 or fewer points.

BYU vs Kansas Prediction

I’m going to take a stab at BYU here. The Cougars are coming off a nice win over a potentially dangerous Kansas State team, shooting 49.1 percent from the field with a 41-31 rebounding edge and 18 team assists. BYU did have 12 turnovers so it wasn’t a perfect game, but an important victory all the same. The Cougars have now scored a combined 153 points in consecutive wins, holding opponents below 70 points in both games as well.

As for Kansas, they held Utah to just 36.5 percent shooting in their latest game but still managed to lose, thanks mostly to 12 turnovers which turned into 22 Utes points. The Jayhawks have been on a wildly inconsistent run lately, and this will be another tricky road matchup. I’m not confident enough in Kansas these days to take them on a cover/win.

The McNeese State Cowboys and the Southeastern Louisiana Lions meet Monday in college basketball action from the University Center. Here’s a SE Louisiana vs McNeese State Prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Southeastern Louisiana vs McNeese State pick.

McNeese State Cowboys Betting Preview

The Cowboys were sitting at .500 on the year back in mid-December, but since then they’ve been much better in the record column. During that 5-5 opening run, McNeese beat the College of Biblical Studies, North Texas, Illinois State, Longwood, and LeTourneau. A long win streak came next as the Cowboys dispatched Louisiana, New Orleans, SE Louisiana, East Texas A&M, Northwestern State, Nicholls, Houston Christian, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, UT Rio Grande Valley, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Following a loss to Nicholls State, the Cowboys beat Incarnate Word, Northwestern State, and East Texas A&M in the next trio. That gave McNeese State a 19-6 overall run through their first 25 games of the season.

In their Saturday matchup with New Orleans, the Cowboys were in firm control after the first half on a 42-25 advantage. McNeese hit a 39-36 deficit the rest of the way but still pulled off the 78-64 win in the end. DJ Richards led the team on 21 points in 24 minutes, while Brandon Murray came off the bench for 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, four blocks, and two steals as he filled up the stat sheet in the victory.

Southeastern Louisiana Lions Betting Preview

Over on the Southeastern Louisiana side, they had a pretty rough run initially this season, but they’ve been much better in the 2025 calendar year. The Lions went just 6-8 over their first 14 outings. The losses in that time were versus UAB, Mississippi State, Wyoming, Gardner-Webb, Nicholls, Louisiana, McNeese State, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Southeastern Louisiana would go 6-0 in their next half-dozen outings with wins over UTRGV, New Orleans, Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State, East Texas A&M, and Incarnate Word. Following a loss to Houston Christian, the Lions took out New Orleans, Lamar, Incarnate Word, and Houston Christian in the next four games. The result through 25 games was a 16-9 record for the Lions.

Matched up against Nicholls State over the weekend, the Lions were in trouble with a 38-33 halftime deficit. SE Louisiana came back to force overtime, however, and eventually won it 84-81 in thrilling fashion. The Lions’ lead scorer Sam Hines finished with 25 points, four rebounds and three assists with a pair of blocks. Jakevion Buckley added 23 points with eight rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes of work as well.

Why the Southeastern Louisiana Lions will win

  • Southeastern Louisiana has won each of its last 10 games after coming off overtime.
  • McNeese State has lost each of its last three games at Pride Roofing University Center.
  • The home team has won the first half in four of the last five games between McNeese State and Southeastern Louisiana.

Why the McNeese State Cowboys will win

  • McNeese State has won each of its last 16 night games against the Southland Conference.
  • McNeese State has won the first half in each of its last four night games at Pride Roofing University Center.

SE Louisiana vs McNeese State Prediction

I’ll just stay with McNeese here. Both teams are doing well lately though, so it should be a fun matchup. On Saturday the Cowboys missed six of their nine free throws (33.3 percent) but otherwise did pretty well overall in a win over New Orleans. McNeese hit 44.4 percent from the field with 36 rebounds, 17 team assists, and just six turnovers. The Cowboys benefitted from 20 Privateers turnovers on 26 points, though. That makes four straight wins for McNeese State, but it was the first time they’d eclipsed 67 points since way back on January 27 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Back on December 30 when these teams last met up, McNeese State powered out a dominant 79-51 win at home. The Cowboys shot well in that one (49.1 percent); the Lions did not (39.6 percent). McNeese also posted a solid 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the line alongside a 37-29 rebounding advantage. The 32 points off a whopping 22 Southeastern Louisiana turnovers were helpful as well. I don’t think the Lions will be quite so sloppy in this home rematch, but McNeese should still be in firm control of the outcome.

The Nicholls State Colonels and the New Orleans Privateers meet Monday in college basketball action from Lakefront Arena. Here’s a New Orleans vs Nicholls State Prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best New Orleans vs Nicholls State pick.

Nicholls State Colonels Betting Preview

The Colonels have had some choppy runs in the record column so far this year—as well as a couple of nice stretches. Nicholls State opened on a 2-4 run though, falling to New Mexico, South Alabama, Cincinnati, and Towson in that time. After a winning streak over Mississippi College, Louisiana, Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, and Southern-New Orleans, the Colonels fell to Gonzaga, Northwestern State, and McNeese State in the next five games. After wins over Incarnate Word and Stephen F Austin came losses to Lamar and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Nicholls would beat UTRGV, McNeese, Houston Christian, and East Texas A&M in the next quartet before a loss to Northwestern State, giving the Colonels a 15-10 overall run through their first 25 games of the season.

In their weekend match with Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls State jumped out to a 38-33 halftime edge. The Colonels lost it in the second half, however, and eventually fell 84-81 in overtime during a tough outcome. Robert Brown led the team with 28 points, five rebounds, and three turnovers. Jamal West added 16 points with eight boards and two assists, while Trae English had 12 points with six rebounds and eight assists in 41 minutes of work.

New Orleans Privateers Betting Preview

Over on the New Orleans side, they’ve had a rough campaign this year with only one instance of consecutive wins. The Privateers opened on a 2-4 run with victories over only Lindenwood and Tulane. Losses to Baylor, Nicholls, Iowa, Texas, LSU, McNeese, Vanderbilt, UT Rio Grande Valley, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and SE Louisiana piled up from there before a pair of wins over Lamar and East Texas A&M. More losses came in the next seven outings versus Northwestern State, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, SE Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Houston Christian and Incarnate Word. That gave the Privateers a rough 4-21 record across their first 25 outings of the 2024-25 campaign.

Matched up against McNeese State on Saturday, the Privateers were pummeled 42-25 in the first half alone. New Orleans got better from there on a 39-36 run but still lost 78-64 in the end. Leland Coleman was the team’s leading scorer with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Both Kohen Rowbatham (four assists) and JR Jacobs (seven rebounds; three assists) chipped in 14 points each, while MJ Thomas had 10 rebounds with nine points and two assists.

Why the New Orleans Privateers will win

  • The home team has won six of the last seven games between Nicholls State and New Orleans.
  • The home team has won the first half in four of New Orleans’ last five games.

Why the Nicholls State Colonels will win

  • New Orleans has lost each of its last 11 games at Lakefront Arena.
  • Nicholls State has won 12 of its last 13 night games against the Southland Conference.
  • Nicholls State has won the first half in 10 of its last 12 night games against the Southland Conference.

New Orleans vs Nicholls State Prediction

I’ll stick with Nicholls State I suppose. Probably avoiding this one, though. In their Saturday matchup, the Colonels couldn’t quite topple a surging SE Louisiana team, giving up 47.1 percent shooting with 13 turnovers. Nicholls also missed seven of their 18 free throws (61.1 percent) along the way. The good news is that the Colonels are still scoring well, with 71 or more points in five of the last six outings.

These teams last saw each other way back on December 7 in a tight 73-70 home win for the Colonels. Nicholls State didn’t play particularly well in that one, posting 42.4 percent from the field, 20 percent (4-of-20) from the 3-point range, and 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from the line. The 43-37 rebounding advantage was helpful, but the key stat was the 13 Privateers turnovers for 16 Nicholls State points. New Orleans will likely be more comfortable in their home rematch on Monday, so don’t expect so many mistakes from that side. Nicholls State needs a big offensive push in this one, but I think they can pull it off.

The Alabama State Hornets and the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils meet Monday in college basketball action from Harrison HPER Complex. Here’s a Mississippi Valley State vs Alabama State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Mississippi Valley State vs Alabama State pick.

Alabama State Hornets Betting Preview

The Hornets have had a couple of pretty good runs in the record column so far this year, but overall it’s been a struggle. Alabama State lost their first two games to UNLV and LSU before getting wins over Virginia Lynchburg, Omaha, and Lamar in the next three. A 1-7 run came next with a lone win over TN-Martin amid losses to Akron, Cincinnati, SMU, Southern Miss, Norfolk State, Delaware State, and Missouri. The Hornets would beat MS Valley State, AR-Pine Bluff, Alabama A&M, and Prairie View with losses to Jackson State and Alcorn State in the next six. A 2-3 run ensued with wins over Florida A&M and Southern amid losses to Texas Southern, Bethune-Cookman, and Grambling, giving the Hornets a 10-14 run through the first 24 games.

In their Saturday matchup with Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Hornets were down by three points heading into the second half. Alabama State hit a 49-34 run the rest of the way however, pulling off the comeback win 75-63 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was TJ Madlock with 20 points and eight rebounds with one assist and one steal. Micah Simpson was top off the bench with 13 points and two rebounds, while CJ Hines added 12 points with six rebounds and five assists alongside four steals in 34 minutes of work on the floor.

Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Mississippi Valley State side, it’s been a rough year so far with the wins coming very few and far between. The Delta Devils won just two of their first nine games over Mississippi University for Women and Oakwood. After a losing streak versus Liberty, North Texas, Tulsa, LSU, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View, Texas Southern, Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Grambling, and Southern, Mississippi Valley State finally got another win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The next two games were both losses to Jackson State and Alcorn State though, giving the Devils a rough 3-21 result through their first 24 outings.

Matched up against Alabama A&M on Saturday, the Delta Devils were blitzed in the first half 32-18. MS Valley State got better from there on a 52-50 advantage but still lost 82-70. Jair Horton led the team in scoring with his 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Antonio Sisk added 12 points, and Greg Moore had 14 points with one assist off the bench.

Why the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils will win

  • The home team has won four of the last five games between Alabama State and Mississippi Valley State.
  • Alabama State has lost three of its last four night games following a road win.
  • The home team has won the first half in each of the last five games between Alabama State and Mississippi Valley State.

Why the Alabama State Hornets will win

  • Mississippi Valley State has lost 30 of its last 32 games against the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
  • Alabama State has won six of its last seven games at R.W. Harrison HPER Complex.
  • Mississippi Valley State has lost the first half in 19 of its last 23 games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Mississippi Valley State vs Alabama State Prediction

I’ll lean toward Alabama State but I’m not touching it. There’s not a lot to get excited about here if you’re not a fan of either team, and the line’s probably too thick to mess with anyway. On Saturday the Hornets didn’t have the greatest game but they were able to pull off the win thanks to a good second half. Alabama State shot just 36.4 percent from the field and 18-of-28 (64.3 percent) from the line in that one, but held the Lions to only 37.7 percent shooting on the other side. Alabama State also scored 21 points off 17 turnovers, which certainly helped matters.

These teams last saw each other back on January 4 in a home game for the Hornets. Alabama State won that one 84-55 thanks to a nice 50 percent shooting from the floor and only eight turnovers. The Hornets gave up just 35.1 percent shooting on the other side and scored 20 points off 16 Delta Devils turnovers in a pretty sloppy outing for MS Valley State. Alabama State won’t be able to rely on so many mistakes in the road rematch, but I think they’re still in a position to cover. With the hefty line though, I’m avoiding this one in reality.

The Kansas State Wildcats and the Utah Utes meet Monday in college basketball action from Jon M Huntsman Center. Here’s a Utah vs Kansas State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Utah vs Kansas State pick.

Kansas State Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats had a rough stretch of games in December and January, but aside from that they’re not doing too badly in the record column. Kansas State opened on a 6-2 run with losses to LSU and Liberty amid wins over New Orleans, Cleveland State, MS Valley State, George Washington, Longwood, and Arkansas Pine Bluff. A rough 1-9 run came across the next 10 games, with a lone victory over Cincinnati on December 30. Kansas State otherwise lost to St. John’s, Drake, Wichita State, TCU, Oklahoma State, Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Baylor during that stretch. The Wildcats got back on the horse with wins over West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Arizona State, Kansas, and Arizona in the next six games, which gave them a 13-11 overall run through the first 24 outings of the year.

In their Saturday matchup with BYU, the Wildcats were drilled 40-22 in the first half. Kansas State recovered from there on a 43-40 advantage but still lost by a sizable 80-65 margin. Dug McDaniel led the team with 22 points, two assists, and two steals in 37 minutes of work. Brendan Hausen was the only other team player to finish in double-figures with 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Tops in scoring off the bench was CJ Jones with his nine points, two rebounds, and one steal in 20 minutes of action. Max Jones, David N’Guessan, and Coleman Hawkins each chipped in six points apiece as well.

Utah Utes Betting Preview

Over on the Utes’ side, they started out quite well but they’ve been very choppy since mid-December amid some tough matchups. Utah went 8-2 over their first 10 outings with wins over Central Arkansas, Queens U, Utah Tech, MS Valley State, Eastern Washington, Radford, and Florida A&M alongside losses to Mississippi State and Saint Mary’s. Losses to Iowa, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Iowa State came next before wins over Oklahoma State, TCU, and BYU. The next seven games were a 2-5 stretch with wins over only Cincinnati and Colorado. Otherwise, it was losses courtesy of Houston, Baylor, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Cincinnati in that time, giving the Utes a 13-11 result in their first 24 games of the season.

Matched up against Kansas on Saturday, the Utes held a slim 39-37 halftime edge. Utah kept it up in the second half on a 35-30 run and pulled off the home-upset victory 74-67 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Gabe Madsen with his 24 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Ezra Ausar added 12 points with eight rebounds in 29 minutes, and Jake Wahlin posted a double-double of 10 points with 12 rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes on the floor.

Why the Utah Utes will win

  • Utah has won each of its last 14 night games at Jon M. Huntsman Center.
  • Kansas State has lost seven of its last eight road games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Utah has won the first half in 20 of its last 21 night games at Jon M. Huntsman Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the Kansas State Wildcats will win

  • Kansas State has won six of its last seven games.
  • Utah has lost each of its last three games following a home win.
  • Kansas State has won the first half in seven of its last eight games against the Big 12 Conference.

Utah vs Kansas State Prediction

I’ll lean toward Kansas State. Probably not touching this one, though. Some of the luster has worn off following the Wildcats’ ugly loss on Saturday. In that matchup with BYU, Kansas State shot a tepid 41 percent from the field with 12 turnovers and a 41-31 rebounding deficit. The free throw shooting (9-of-17 for 52.9 percent) was lacking as well. On the other side, the Wildcats gave up 49.1 percent shooting and were pretty much buried after the rough first half. The loss halts a six-game winning streak and marks the Wildcats’ lowest scoring total since posting just 62 points in a loss to Baylor on the road back on January 22.

As for Utah, they get a much-needed lift after the big Saturday win over Kansas. The Utes are still playing pretty choppy in the record column though, losing five of their last eight games. This one should be pretty close, and the outcome will depend on how each team responds after their respective weekend matchups.

The South Florida Bulls and the UAB Blazers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Bartow Arena. Here’s a UAB vs South Florida prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best UAB vs South Florida pick.

South Florida Bulls Betting Preview

The Bulls have had a few good runs here and there across the course of the season so far, but they’ve fallen below the .500 mark recently. South Florida went 5-6 in their first 11 outings, taking losses to Florida, Charleston, Middle Tennessee, Loyola, Utah State, and Bethune-Cookman. The wins otherwise were over AR-Pine Bluff, West Georgia, Portland, Wright State, and Stetson. After wins over East Texas A&M, Webber International, East Carolina, and Wichita State in succession, the Bulls have since gone just 3-7 over their last 10 games. Those wins were over Tulsa, Rice, and Temple. The losses came courtesy of Tulane, UAB, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Wichita State, and Memphis otherwise. That gives South Florida a 12-13 overall record through their first 25 games this year.

In the Memphis matchup back on Thursday, the Bulls were down 42-27 going into the second half. USF kept the pace from there on a 38-38 run but still ended up losing by a fairly sizable 80-65 margin. Kobe Knox (two rebounds; three assists) and Brandon Stroud (six rebounds; two assists) were the leading starters with 11 points apiece. Jayden Reid added 11 points with five rebounds, three steals and three assists off the bench in 21 minutes of work. Jamille Reynolds hit double-figures as well with 10 points, eight rebounds, and one assist.

UAB Blazers Betting Preview

Over on the UAB side, they had a spotty run going across their first 14 games of the year. Since then, however, the Blazers have been much better in the record column. UAB went 7-7 to start things out, losing to Vermont, High Point, Longwood, Illinois State, Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State, and North Texas. The wins in that time were over Southern Miss, SE Louisiana, Auburn-Montgomery, Louisiana, Prairie View, Alabama A&M, and Alcorn State. UAB has won eight of their last 10 games though, falling to only Memphis and East Carolina. The wins otherwise came over Tulsa, Tulane, Florida Atlantic, South Florida, UTSA, Tulsa, Charlotte, and North Texas. Overall it’s been a 15-9 run through the first 24 games of the year for UAB.

Matched up against East Carolina on the road Tuesday, the Blazers came out of the locker room sporting a 36-31 edge. UAB was blitzed 51-39 in the second half, however, resulting in an 82-75 defeat by the game’s end. Leading the team in scoring during the losing effort was Yaxel Lendeborg with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists with two blocks. Christian Coleman also doubled up with 12 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Leading the scoring off the bench was Tyren Moore with 16 points, two assists, one steal, and one rebound.

Why the UAB Blazers will win

  • UAB has won each of its last seven home games.
  • South Florida has lost each of its last four road games.
  • UAB has won the first half in each of its last 14 games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

UAB vs South Florida Prediction

I’ll stay with UAB. The Blazers need to bounce back after a rough second half in their road loss to East Carolina, though. UAB didn’t shoot too badly in that one with 43.9 percent from the field, and they were competitive on the boards 29-29. The problems were the 52.6 percent shooting allowed on the other side, as well as the 10 turnovers for 15 Pirates points. The Blazers have still been scoring well during this 3-2 run though, notching 75 or more points in four of the five games.

The last time these teams saw each other was back on January 15 in a 92-83 road victory for UAB. In that one, both teams shot very well (above 54 percent), but UAB notched a 40-20 rebounding advantage. The Blazers will need to clean up some mistakes this time (13 turnovers) but overall UAB should be in good shape for the home rematch.

The Valparaiso Beacons and the Evansville Purple Aces meet Sunday in college basketball action from Ford Center. Here’s an Evansville vs Valparaiso prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Evansville vs Valparaiso pick.

Valparaiso Beacons Betting Preview

The Beacons got off to a pretty solid start that lasted into January. Since then it’s been a pretty rough run, though. Valparaiso won 10 of their first 16 games, taking losses to Liberty, Cleveland State, DePaul, Drake, Ohio State, and Bradley in that time. The wins otherwise were over Concordia-Ann Arbor, Lindenwood, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Calumet College, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, and Indiana State. After a rough losing streak versus Murray State, Belmont, UIC, Drake, Evansville, Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana State, and Murray State, Valparaiso finally stopped the bleeding with a win over Belmont. That gives the Beacons an 11-15 record through 26 games this year so far.

On Wednesday in the Belmont game, the Beacons hit a 56-39 advantage in the first half. Valparaiso kept the pace pretty well from there with another 45 points and eventually took the upset win at home 101-86. Leading the team with a double-double was Cooper Schwieger with 27 points, 13 rebounds and two assists with three blocks. All Wright posted 20 points with three rebounds and three assists, while Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro put up 19 points with five rebounds and two steals, going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line along the way.

Evansville Purple Aces Betting Preview

Over on the Aces’ side, they’ve had a few good runs at various points in the year but overall they’ve been struggling hard in the record column. Evansville lost nine of their first dozen outings, falling to North Texas, Middle Tennessee, Radford, Ohio State, Murray State, Western Kentucky, Chattanooga, Texas Arlington, and Ball State in that time. The wins otherwise were over only Brescia, Green Bay, and Campbell. After three wins in four games over Missouri State, Southern Illinois, and Illinois State, the Aces fell to Drake, Northern Iowa, Belmont, and UIC in the next quartet. Since then it’s been wins over Valparaiso, Murray State, and Belmont ahead of losses to Southern Illinois, Bradley, and Missouri State. In total that makes a 9-17 overall run for the Aces through 26 games so far this season.

Matched up against Missouri State on Wednesday, the Aces took a 10-point deficit into the second half. Evansville didn’t end up getting any closer on a 35-28 run from there and ended up losing 71-54. Tayshawn Comer led the team in the defeat with his 17 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Connor Turnbull added 13 points with five rebounds, and Gabriel Pozzato chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals in 38 minutes of work.

Why the Evansville Purple Aces will win

  • Valparaiso has lost nine of its last 10 games.
  • Evansville has won each of its last three games against Valparaiso.
  • Valparaiso has lost the first half in each of its last five road games against the Missouri Valley Conference.

Why the Valparaiso Beacons will win

  • Evansville has lost five of its last six night games.
  • The road team has won six of Evansville’s last eight games.
  • Evansville has lost the first half in each of its last six night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Evansville vs Valparaiso Prediction

I’ll just stick with Valparaiso. There’s not a lot to get excited about here if you’re not a fan of either team, though. The Beacons are coming off a nice win versus Belmont though, shooting a stellar 56.9 percent from the field with a 35-25 rebounding edge and 25-of-26 (96.2 percent) from the line. It was a pretty great overall win and represents the Beacons’ potential ceiling. Prior to that, however, Valparaiso had lost nine straight, giving up 74 or more points in eight of those defeats.

The Beacons took a loss 78-68 at home the last time these teams saw each other back on January 25. Valparaiso got off to a very slow start in that one and ended up shooting just 38.6 percent from the field with a 36-31 rebounding deficit. The Aces shot 58 percent on the other side but did cough up 21 turnovers. Valparaiso has to be a lot better in the road rematch, but I think they’ve got it in them.

The Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes meet Sunday in college basketball action from Value City Arena. Here’s an Ohio State vs Michigan prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Ohio State vs Michigan pick.

Michigan Wolverines Betting Preview

The Wolverines have a couple of very brief rough spots in the record column so far this year. Overall, however, Michigan is doing quite well against tough competition. An 8-1 start awaited the Wolverines over their first nine outings, with a lone loss to Wake Forest amid wins versus Cleveland State, TCU, Miami Ohio, Tarleton State, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Consecutive losses to Arkansas and Oklahoma followed, then came wins over Fort Wayne, Western Kentucky, USC, UCLA, and Washington. Michigan went 1-2 over the next three with a win over Northwestern in between losses to Minnesota and Purdue. Since then it’s been wins over Penn State, Rutgers, Oregon, Indiana, and Purdue in succession. That gives the Wolverines a 19-5 overall record through their first 24 games of the year.

In the Purdue game on Tuesday, the Wolverines were down by two points at the break. Michigan hit a 40-36 run the rest of the way however, eventually pulling out the win 75-73 in dramatic fashion. Leading team scorer Danny Wolf posted 15 points with nine rebounds and two assists. Both Vladislav Goldin (five rebounds; three steals) and Tre Donaldson (three rebounds) chipped in 12 points apiece, and Roddy Gayle led the bench scoring with his 14 points, seven boards and two assists in 27 minutes of work on the floor.

Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Preview

Over on the Ohio State side, they’ve got a couple of choppy runs in the books so far but overall they’re not doing too badly either. The Buckeyes went 6-4 over their first 10 games, taking out Texas, Youngstown State, Evansville, Campbell, Green Bay, and Rutgers among losses to Texas A&M, Pitt, Maryland, and Auburn. Ohio State beat Valparaiso, Kentucky, Indiana State, and Minnesota over the next five (with a loss to Michigan State), then lost to Oregon, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Since then it’s been a 5-2 run with losses to only Illinois and Nebraska. The wins otherwise have been over Purdue, Iowa, Penn State, Maryland and Washington. Through 25 games this year, Ohio State has carved out a 15-10 overall record.

Matched up against Washington in their Wednesday game, the Buckeyes came out of the break with a 51-36 edge. Ohio State hit a 42-33 run the rest of the way and took the eventual win 93-69. John Mobley (two rebounds; two assists) and Micah Parrish (seven rebounds; three assists) led the way with 21 points apiece. Bruce Thornton added 17 points with four rebounds and five assists, while Aaron Bradshaw posted 12 points with three rebounds.

Why the Ohio State Buckeyes will win

  • Ohio State has won each of its last six day games against the Big Ten Conference at Value City Arena at Schottenstein Center.
  • Ohio State has won the first half in each of its last nine day games at Value City Arena at Schottenstein Center.

Why the Michigan Wolverines will win

  • Michigan has won each of its last seven day games.
  • Ohio State has lost four of its last five day games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Michigan has won the first half in 16 of its last 18 games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Total Points Facts

  • Seventeen of the last 18 games between Michigan and Ohio State have produced a total of 146 or fewer points.
  • Four of Michigan’s last five games against Conference opponents have produced a total of 148 or fewer points.

Ohio State vs Michigan Prediction

I’m going to take a stab at Ohio State. The Buckeyes are fresh off a dominant win versus a middling Washington team, posting a nice 58.2 percent shooting with a 34-22 rebounding edge and 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the line. The 14 turnovers were just about the only blemish to speak of in that home victory. Ohio State has now gone 5-2 in their last seven games amid some difficult teams, scoring 71 or more points in each of those outings.

As for Michigan, they were able to dispatch a talented Purdue team in their last matchup thanks to 44.6 percent shooting. The Wolverines did give up 11 turnovers for 14 Boilermakers points, though. Michigan has won five straight themselves with 70 or more points in four of those. Ohio State is in for a tough matchup here, even in a home game. The Buckeyes are going to have to minimize their mistakes and get off to a quick start in order to keep pace. I like a highly entertaining game on Sunday as the Buckeyes power out an eventual cover. It’ll be a good one to watch regardless.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Northwestern Wildcats meet Sunday in college basketball action from Welsh-Ryan Arena. Here’s a Northwestern vs Nebraska prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Northwestern vs Nebraska pick.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Betting Preview

The Cornhuskers had a bad stretch of losses amid some tough matchups in January, but overall they’re doing pretty well record-wise outside of that run. Nebraska opened with 12 wins in their first 14 games, losing to only Saint Mary’s and Michigan State amid wins over UT Rio Grande Valley, Bethune-Cookman, Fairleigh Dickinson, Creighton, South Dakota, North Florida, Indiana, Murray State, Hawaii, Oregon State, Southern, and UCLA. A losing streak came next versus Iowa, Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, USC, and Wisconsin, but Nebraska would pick it up against Illinois, Oregon, Washington, and Ohio State in the next quartet prior to another loss to Maryland. All in all that gives the Cornhuskers a 16-9 record through 25 games this year.

On Thursday in the Maryland game, the Cornhuskers kicked off with a 42-35 deficit in the first half. Nebraska didn’t end up getting any closer on a 41-40 run from there and took the loss in the end 83-75. Juwan Gary led the team in scoring with 22 points and two rebounds in 38 minutes during the losing effort. Brice Williams added 20 points with three assists and two rebounds, while Andrew Morgan had 15 points with three rebounds and three assists.

Northwestern Wildcats Betting Preview

Over on the Northwestern side, they got off to a pretty good start themselves but they’ve faltered in the 2025 calendar year amid some tricky opponents in the Big Ten. The Wildcats took out Lehigh, UIC, Eastern Illinois, Montana State, Pepperdine, UNLV, Illinois, Georgia Tech, DePaul, and Northeastern during a 10-3 opening run, falling to Dayton, Butler and Iowa otherwise in that time. Since then Northwestern has beaten only Maryland, Indiana, and USC. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Penn State, Purdue, Michigan State, Michigan, Illinois, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Washington and Oregon. That gives the Wildcats a 13-12 record across their first 25 games so far this season.

Matched up against Oregon on Tuesday, the Wildcats were outpaced 39-25 in the first half. Northwestern got better from there on a 50-42 advantage but still lost 81-75 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Ty Berry with 23 points and two rebounds. KJ Windham led the bench scoring 20 points, three assists, and two rebounds in 27 minutes on the court, while Nick Martinelli added 16 points with six boards and two assists in 39 minutes.

Why the Northwestern Wildcats will win

  • Northwestern has won 18 of its last 19 games at Welsh-Ryan Arena when playing with a rest advantage.
  • Nebraska has lost each of its last six games at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
  • Northwestern has won the first half in each of its last six day games at Welsh-Ryan Arena against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Why the Nebraska Cornhuskers will win

  • Northwestern has lost each of its last seven day games against the Big Ten Conference.
  • Nebraska has won four of its last five games.
  • Northwestern has lost the first half in four of its last five games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Northwestern vs Nebraska Prediction

I’ll stay with Nebraska. The Cornhuskers could use a good bounce-back effort after a rough home loss versus Maryland, and this is a promising spot to get it. Nebraska gave up 58.5 percent shooting to the Terrapins in that defeat and got outmuscled on the boards pretty badly 34-22. The shooting wasn’t too bad otherwise (43.1 percent) but the 10 turnovers for 11 Maryland points didn’t help. Still, Nebraska continues their run of solid scoring with 75 or more points in five straight—and they’ve won four of those five games.

As for Northwestern, they’ll be glad to get back home after a tough road loss to Oregon. The Wildcats shot well in that one (51.7 percent) but lost the battle on the boards 33-27 and had 11 turnovers for an opportunistic 18 points for the Ducks. Northwestern is scoring well themselves lately with 69 or more points in nine straight. The trouble is, the Wildcats have given up 75 or more points in six straight as well. Nebraska shouldn’t have a hard time posting a high total in this one, even on the road. If the Wildcats play well I think they’ll be able to follow along for most of the game. With the Cornhuskers being a better team though, I like Nebraska to power it out in the end.

The Manhattan Jaspers and the Fairfield Stags meet Sunday in college basketball action from Leo D Mahoney Arena. Here’s a Fairfield vs Manhattan prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Fairfield vs Manhattan pick.

Manhattan Jaspers Betting Preview

The Jaspers have been a mixed bag in the record column so far this year, and they’ve been fighting off the .500 mark for quite some time. Manhattan opened on a 6-5 stretch, falling to Maryland, Fairleigh Dickinson, Virginia, Le Moyne, and Marist amid wins over Mercy, Fordham, Army, Saint Peter’s, Wagner, and Presbyterian in that time. The Jaspers hit a 5-5 run in their next 10 games with wins over Rider, Niagara, Mount St. Mary’s, Iona, and Saint Peter’s. The losses otherwise were versus Siena, Mount St. Mary’s, Merrimack, Fairfield, and Sacred Heart, giving the Jaspers an 11-10 record through their first 21 games this year.

In their Friday game versus Merrimack, the Jaspers were in trouble at halftime sporting a 42-33 deficit. Manhattan came back after the break though, posting a 46-33 run and powering out the victory in the end 79-75. Leading team scorer Will Sydnor doubled up on 19 points with 10 rebounds and four assists. Wesley Robinson notched a double-double as well with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Mariah Gilyard added 17 points with seven boards and five assists while leading bench scorer Devin Dinkins had 15 points with four rebounds.

Fairfield Stags Betting Preview

Over on the Fairfield side, they didn’t start out too badly in the record column this year but they’ve had some difficulties since early December. The Stags went 5-4 over their first nine outings, beating New Hampshire, John Jay College, Vermont, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Rider with losses to Rhode Island, Georgetown, Drexel, and Yale otherwise. After a losing streak versus Mount St. Mary’s, Central Connecticut, Monmouth, Columbia, and Merrimack, the Stags hit a 3-2 run with losses to Marist and Canisius. The wins otherwise were versus Iona, Niagara, and Manhattan. The next five were a 1-4 run with a win over Marist among losses to Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Iona, and Sacred Heart. That would put the Stags at 9-15 overall through their first 24 games of the year.

Matched up against Saint Peter’s on Friday, Fairfield was down 25-22 going into the second half. The Stags fell even further behind from there, notching a 40-30 deficit on the way to a 65-52 loss. Tops in scoring was Kyle Jenkins with 12 bench points and a pair of rebounds. Prophet Johnson added 10 rebounds with nine points and three assists as well.

Why the Fairfield Stags will win

  • Fairfield has won eight of its last nine games at Leo D. Mahoney Arena following a road loss.
  • Manhattan has lost each of its last four day games following a home win.
  • Manhattan has lost the first half in each of its last six Sunday games against the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Why the Manhattan Jaspers will win

  • Fairfield has lost each of its last seven day games.
  • Manhattan has won four of its last five games.
  • The road team has won the first half in each of the last six games between Manhattan and Fairfield.

Fairfield vs Manhattan Prediction

I’ll lean toward Manhattan here, but you could probably make a case either way. In their Friday game, the Jaspers had a rough first half against Merrimack but came back for a nice home victory in the end. Manhattan ended up shooting 49.2 percent from the field in that one with a dominant 47-29 rebounding edge. The Jaspers got into trouble with 16 turnovers for 13 Warriors points though, which nearly cost them the game. They won’t be able to win like that on the road Sunday. Still, Manhattan is scoring well these days with 72 or more points in seven straight games.

These teams have seen each other already this year in a close game. Manhattan lost that one at home on January 23, falling 87-84 in overtime. The Jaspers shot well from the field (45.3 percent) and the line (85.7 percent on 18-of-21), posting a 43-40 rebounding advantage. The problem was Manhattan’s 14 turnovers, which turned into 16 Stags points. The Jaspers can’t be so careless with the ball during this road rematch. If they can show a little more discipline I like Manhattan to power out some revenge on Sunday. It should be a competitive game either way, though.
