Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Rams are 10-7 this season after they lost to Seattle by a score of 30-25 in their last game. Los Angeles trailed 17-13 at halftime, but they did lead 25-24 in the fourth quarter, before allowing the game-winning touchdown with about three minutes left. The Rams outgained Seattle by a total of 403-336, lost the turnover battle 1-0, and went 5-14 on third down in the game. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 334 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while Jordan Whittington caught three passes for 86 yards in the loss. 

Prior to that game, the Rams defeated the Cardinals by a score of 13-9 and the Jets by a score of 19-9. Los Angeles has won five of their last six games and won the tiebreaker over the Seahawks to win the NFC West. The LA offense has scored 21.6 points per game with 227.5 passing yards and 103.8 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 22.7 points per game this season. Matthew Stafford has completed 65.8% of his passes for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, while Puka Nacua has caught 79 passes for 990 yards and three scores this year. 

Minnesota Vikings Betting Preview

The Minnesota Vikings are 14-3 this year after they lost to Detroit by a score of 31-9 in their last game. Minnesota trailed 10-6 at halftime but did cut the deficit to 10-9 in the third quarter, but the Lions were able to pull away in the loss. The Vikings were outgained by a total of 394-262, won the turnover battle 2-0, and went 5-12 on third down in the game. Sam Darnold threw for 166 yards and was just 18-41 on his passes, while Cam Akers rushed for 65 yards on six carries in the loss. 

Prior to that game, the Vikings defeated the Packers by a score of 27-25 and the Seahawks by a score of 27-24. Minnesota has won nine of their last ten games, but they lost the NFC North by one game to the Lions, which dropped them all the way down to the fifth seed. Los Angeles comes into this matchup after resting several starters last week in their loss to Seattle and they will be full of confidence after beating Seattle earlier in the season. On the other side, the Vikings have to be wondering what happened in their loss to Detroit last week, as they played a very bad game, especially in the red zone. Darnold did not play well under center for Minnesota and missed several opener receivers in the red zone, but he has been great for most of the season. This is going to be a great matchup to end Wild Card weekend, but I think this Vikings team is the more talented team and I expect them to bounce back against a much easier opponent than the Lions. The Vikings have three key players questionable, and that’s running back Aaron Jones, linebacker Pat Jones and cornerback Fabian Moreau. Both Jones’ are heading in a positive direction, according to coach Kevin O’Connell, and should play if there are no setbacks.

For the Lions, running back David Montgomery is likely going to remain sidelined. Offensive lineman Penei Sewell is dealing with a thumb injury, but he’s not expected to miss any time. It will be worth watching wide receiver Kalif Raymond, as he was a full participant in practice last week but didn’t play against the 49ers.

Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings Prediction

You can make a case for either side, as these are two legit contenders playing well and they’ve both covered 11 games. The Detroit Lions are simply getting the edge because they’re at home. I have to side with the Vikings and the free field goal. The Vikings have been underdogs three times this season, all three games in September, and they won all three games outright. The Vikings are 4-0 SU and ATS in their last 4 games. The Vikings are a top-10 team in scoring offense and scoring defense. I just have a hard to time turning down free points with a team this good.

A battle for the NFC North, it should be a good one regardless. I’m still getting points wherever I can get them.

All Eyes on Kirk Cousins for Falcons

All eyes are going to be on Kirk Cousins in this game for the Falcons for a couple of reasons. Not only is he returning to Minnesota in this game, but he might be playing to try and keep his job after the way he has struggled the last couple of weeks. In the last game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Falcons only scored 13 points, and a big reason why was the struggles of Cousins who threw for 245 yards but also had four interceptions. He has looked a little lost, and they need him to be a whole lot better. 

Even with the struggles the Falcons still have a 6-6 record and are alive in the FC South, so it’s important they turn around this season quickly. The Falcons on the season are averaging 21.4 points while their defense is giving up 24.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 19th while the defense is ranked 22nd. 

Vikings Just Keep Winning Games

It hasn’t at times been pretty, but the Vikings just keep winning games, and that’s all that matters at this point of this season. In the last game, the Vikings faced off against the Arizona Cardinals and they were able to secure a 23-22 victory. Sam Darnold completed 21 of his 31 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. The running game wasn’t good, and Aaron Jones had a couple of fumbles that really hurt them. Justin Jefferson finished with seven catches for 99 yards. The Vikings on the season are averaging 24.8 points while their defense is giving up 18.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 9th in the league while the defense is ranked 1st. In this game, the defense is going to need to do everything in their power to make life tough on Kirk Cousins.

Arizona just had their four-game winning streak snapped against Seattle last time out, but they did out-gain the Seahawks in the game. I know Murray didn’t play his best last week, but he has been great so far this season and I think this Arizona team has a chance to pick up the win. Give me the points with the Cardinals here.

San Francisco 49ers +5.5 -110 / Arizona Cardinals -1 -110 / Minnesota Vikings -3.5 -110 // $10 bet pays $59.57

Yes, Brock Purdy might be out for the San Francisco 49ers, but Brandon Allen can keep this game close against the Green Bay Packers. I am not sold on what Jordan Love has done this season, and the Packers’ offense is going to really struggle to get anything going here. The 49ers offense might not run up the score, but they will score enough to keep it within a field goal. Back the 49ers. 

Give me the Arizona Cardinals here. The Seahawks home field advantage hasn’t been there this season, and one of the big reasons has been the defense really struggling. Kyler Murray is playing one of his best years of his career and the Cardinals are going to have a huge game here. The Seahawks’ offense will have no answer, the Cardinals will come out on top here. 

Give me the Vikings against the Chicago Bears here. Caleb Williams has struggled with pressure all year, and he’s going to really struggle again here. The Vikings defense is going to create all kinds of pressure. Sam Darnold is going to have a strong game against the Bears defense, and the Vikings are going to win this game by at least a touchdown. 

New England Patriots/Miami Dolphins Under 46.5 -110 / Washington Commanders +10.5 -110 // $10 bet pays $26.44

This total between the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins is going to be involved in a lower-scoring game. The Patriots’ offense is going to really struggle against the Miami Dolphins’ defense. I also expect the Patriots’ defense to be good, and they are going to make life tough, at least a little tough on Tua here. The Patriots and Dolphins are going to finish well under the total here. This game will finish at 34 or 35 points. 

The Commanders could be 17 point favorites, and they would still be the play in this game. The Cowboys have no one to throw the ball, and they aren’t going to even reach 10 points here. Washington is going to run up the score, and they will cruise here to the victory.

Minnesota Vikings Betting Preview

The Vikings got off to a nice start this year, winning their first five straight games. Those victories came over the Giants, 49ers, Texans, Packers and Jets. Minnesota would lose the next two versus the Lions and Rams, then recovered with wins over the Colts and Jaguars.

In the Titans matchup on Sunday, Minnesota scored in each of the first three quarters during a 23-13 win. QB Sam Darnold finished with 246 yards and two scores alongside one rush TD. Justin Jefferson caught six balls for 81 yards to top the receivers.

Chicago Bears Betting Preview

Over on the Bears’ side, they started out the year on a 4-2 run, taking out the Titans, Rams, Panthers, and Jaguars during that time. The next three were all losses, however, as Chicago fell to the Commanders, Cardinals, and Patriots.

Matched up against the Packers in their last outing, the Bears held a 19-14 edge going into the fourth quarter but ultimately lost 20-19. QB Caleb Williams put up 231 yards passing, and D’Andre Swift led the rush with 14 carries for 71 yards and a score.

Chicago Bears vs Minnesota Vikings Prediction

I’ll lean toward Minnesota. The Vikings are coming off a pretty clean road win versus a struggling Titans team, notching 318 yards (236 passing) and 24 first downs in the 10-point victory. The Vikings went a tepid 5-of-14 on third downs, but the defense helped out with 6-of-15 on the other side. Minnesota benefitted from some sloppy Tennessee play (13 penalties for 91 yards) as well.

As for the Bears, they let another one go late in Sunday’s matchup with the Packers. Chicago surrendered just 1-of-5 on third downs and 23:39 in time of possession in that one but couldn’t finish off the win despite playing fairly well overall. The Bears have been below 20 points in four straight games now, so it won’t take much for the Vikings to get a lead and keep it.

Atlanta Falcons +2.5 -110 / Minnesota Vikings -6 -110 / Seattle Seahawks San Francisco 49ers Over 48 -110 // $10 bet pays $59.57

The Atlanta Falcons are going to find success in this game against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos should have beaten the Chiefs in the last game, but a blocked field goal as time expired was the difference as they were defeated. Kirk Cousins is going to have a big game here for the Falcons offense and their offense is going to be the difference here as Atlanta will cover the spread. 

Sure, the Vikings just squeaked by last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that isn’t going to be the case again here. I expect Sam Darnold to have a better game here, and he’s not going to have the interception issues in this game. Justin Jefferson is going to have a field day, and it’s going to be the Vikings that end up coming out on top. 

The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are going to be involved in a higher-scoring game. These two teams faced off a few weeks ago, and 60 points were scored. The Seahawks’ offense is going to find success again here, but their defense is going to have some issues. There will be zero defense played here, and the over is going to end up cashing. 

Cincinnati Bengals ML +105 / Green Bay Packers -5.5 -110 // $10 bet pays $29.14

The Cincinnati Bengals are going to find success against the LA Chargers and come out on top here. Yes, the Bengals lost the last game against the Baltimore Ravens, but they are going to bounce back in a big way here. Even though they lost, the offense scored 34 points, and their offense is going to find success against the Chargers’ defense. I just don’t trust the Chargers’ offense, either. Back the Bengals on the money line. 

The Bears coaching staff is failing Caleb Williams and if they were smart, they would move him to the bench. The Bears are flat out bad with the offense, and the Packers’ offense will have another strong game. The Packers’ offense is going to have no issue cruising here. Back the Packers against the spread.

In the nine games that Aaron Jones has played for the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 NFL regular season, Jones compiled an impressive 653 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 28 receptions, 258 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown.

More recently, in the Detroit Lions 31-29 victory over the Minnesota Vikings four weeks ago, Minnesota running back Aaron Jones tallied 93 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, three receptions, and 23 receiving yards.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Lions win over the Minnesota Vikings just mentioned, Aaron Jones accumulated a whopping 20.6 Draftkings points.

Additionally, I like Aaron Jones from a general matchup perspective in this game. Why? The Tennessee Titans defense has had issues containing opposing running backs this season. Let me be more specific. Through ten games played in the 2024 NFL regular season, the Tennessee Titans are ranked a rather low 19th in total Draftkings points allowed a game (23.9) to the running back position.
