Another CFL game, another line that doesn’t make sense. Sure, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats aren’t a good football team, but they’re fresh off their first win of the season. The Edmonton Elks are 0-6 SU on the year and haven’t won a game overall since September 15 of last year. And we’re supposed to lay 3.5 points with them? Why? Because they’re at home? I’m not buying it. The Elks have done nothing well this season and are dreadful defensively. The Tiger-Cats have their issues as well, but they are second in total offense and passing offense. The two worst teams in the CFL, but I’ll gladly grab the 3.5 points with the Tiger-Cats, even if it’s a fade of the Elks more than anything in this weird favorite role.

Additionally, I like Bo Levi Mitchell’s matchup in this game. Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell draws an Ottawa Redblacks defense that has had issues defending the quarterback position in the 2024 CFL regular season. Upon the completion of three games played this season, the Ottawa Redblacks are ranked a dreadful ninth in total passing yards allowed (331.5) a game to the quarterback position. Let us not forget that the CFL has nine teams in the entire league. That means that the Ottawa Redblacks are ranked dead last in the CFL in opponent passing yards allowed a game. Clearly, the Ottawa franchise is not currently a good defensive football team.

For the reasons just outlined, I am backing talented Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell as my captain for this one game DFS CFL Draftkings showdown slate.

In summary, I fully expect Trevor Harris to continue his outstanding play on the football field in this week’s matchup versus a rather vulnerable Hamilton Tiger-Cats defense.

Shemar Bridges, WR $4,700

One of the great things about the CFL is that the league provides a platform for young football players to play on a professional level that are not quite talented enough to make an NFL roster yet. An example of a young player that seized the opportunity that the CFL provided him is Hamilton rookie wide receiver Shemar Bridges. In my opinion, Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Shemar Bridges presents the best value of any player on this slate at the low Draftkings price of only $4,700.

James Butler, RB $12,100

Talented Hamilton running back James Butler was certainly a key contributor to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offense in 2023. Having stated that, how did Butler perform from a statistical perspective last season? Let’s review James Butler’s relevant key player game data from the 2023 CFL regular season to answer that question.

In the 13 games that running back James Butler played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2023 CFL regular season, Butler accumulated a robust 1,182 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 57 receptions, and 477 receiving yards.

Two weeks ago, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats suffered a 27-12 loss to Montreal Alouettes. In that contest, Butler played rather well. More specifically, Butler accumulated a whopping 119 rushing yards in the Tiger-Cats loss to the defending champion Montreal Alouettes in week 1 of the CFL regular season.

For the reasons just mentioned, I am backing Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back James Butler as a flex play for this Draftkings CFL DFS contest.
