Also, the Montreal Alouettes have won 7 straight games against the Redblacks, and they’ve covered 5 of those games. The Alouettes have won the 2 games against the Redblacks this season by an average of 19 points. I’ll take the Alouettes at home by a touchdown based on the dominance these last few seasons.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Redblacks win over the Argonauts just mentioned, Dru Brown compiled 21.4 Draftkings points. It has to be said, those are the type of DFS numbers I am looking for from a player that I select at the captain position for a Draftkings CFL Showdown contest.

In my opinion, Dru Brown is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this CFL regular season game. For that specific reason, I am backing Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Dru Brown at the captain position for this CFL slate.

Walter Fletcher, Running Back, Montreal Alouettes $12,700

Montreal running back Walter Fletcher has been a key contributor to the Montreal Alouettes offense in 2024. Let’s review Fletcher’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the 15 games that running back Walter Fletcher has played for the Montreal Alouettes in the 2024 CFL regular season, Fletcher tallied 674 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 65 receptions, 596 receiving yards, and two receiving yards.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the 15 games that Walter Fletcher has played for the Montreal Alouettes this season, Fletcher has averaged a respectable 15.3 Draftkings points a contest.

Khalan Laborn, Running Back, Ottawa Redblacks $7,200

In addition to Dru Brown, Redblacks running back Khalan Laborn has been a key contributor to the Ottawa offense in 2024. In his last four games played for the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2024 CFL regular season, Ottawa running back Khalan Laborn has accumulated 244 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 17 receptions and 91 receiving yards.

I fully expect the talented Ottawa running back to continue his outstanding play versus the Montreal Alouettes on Monday afternoon.

However, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats nearly beat the Redblacks on the road back in June, and they’re coming off a strong win over Toronto to get back on track.

The Tiger-Cats have also had an extra week to prepare for this game. There’s value to getting free points with the home team and the rest advantage. The Tiger-Cats have the best total offense in the CFL, it’s just a matter of finishing drives. Give me the Tiger-Cats and the free points.

The Redblacks are winning and are second in both total offense and total defense. Give me the Redblacks and the free points in a game they probably win outright.

The Calgary Stampeders also don’t do anything particularly well on either side of the ball, and the road team has won 7 of the last 10 meetings. However, the Stampeders are undefeated at home and 6-3 ATS on the season. The Redblacks have gotten fat on endless home games, and they’re 1-2 SU on the road. The Stampeders don’t do anything sexy, but undefeated at home is undefeated at home. I’ll ride that trend toward a win and cover on Thursday night.

In the four games that starting quarterback McLeod Bethel Thompson has played for the Edmonton Elks this season, Bethel Thompson has averaged a massive 306.3 passing yards and 1.8 passing touchdowns a game.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the four contests that Edmonton signal caller McLeod Bethel Thompson has played for the Elks in the 2024 CFL regular season, Bethel Thompson has averaged 21.1 Draftkings points a game. It has to be said, those are some outstanding fantasy numbers.

I just don’t see a scenario where Edmonton’s McLeod Bethel Thompson fails in this game. For that specific reason, I am backing Bethel Thompson as a flex play for this one game DFS slate.

Additionally, I like Dru Brown’s matchup in this game. Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Dru Brown draws a Winnipeg Blue Bombers defense that has had issues defending the quarterback position in the 2024 CFL regular season. Upon the completion of four games played this season, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are ranked a rather low sixth in total passing yards allowed (370.8) a game to the quarterback position.

In my opinion, Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Dru Brown is the best fantasy value of any player on this slate. Brown arrives on this slate at the low cost of only $8,500.

As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct players for your flex positions for a DFS showdown lineup is absolutely vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) Draftkings contest.
