In my opinion, Dru Brown is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this CFL regular season game. For that specific reason, I am backing Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Dru Brown at the captain position for this CFL slate.

Walter Fletcher, Running Back, Montreal Alouettes $12,700

Montreal running back Walter Fletcher has been a key contributor to the Montreal Alouettes offense in 2024. Let’s review Fletcher’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the 15 games that running back Walter Fletcher has played for the Montreal Alouettes in the 2024 CFL regular season, Fletcher tallied 674 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 65 receptions, 596 receiving yards, and two receiving yards.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the 15 games that Walter Fletcher has played for the Montreal Alouettes this season, Fletcher has averaged a respectable 15.3 Draftkings points a contest.

Khalan Laborn, Running Back, Ottawa Redblacks $7,200

In addition to Dru Brown, Redblacks running back Khalan Laborn has been a key contributor to the Ottawa offense in 2024. In his last four games played for the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2024 CFL regular season, Ottawa running back Khalan Laborn has accumulated 244 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 17 receptions and 91 receiving yards.

This will be just the third time this season the Alouettes are favorites of 3 or fewer points, and they’re 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games when favorites of 3 or fewer points. Give me Montreal.

The Calgary Stampeders are heading in the wrong direction defensively and the offense isn’t finishing drives. I just don’t trust the Stampeders in their current form. Give me the Alouettes by a touchdown on the road Saturday night.

In the Montreal Alouettes 23-20 victory over the Edmonton Els earlier this year, talented Montreal Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo accumulated 269 passing yards, two touchdowns, and added 27 rushing yards.

I certainly like Cody Fajardo’s matchup in this CFL contest. Why? Montreal quarterback Cody Fajardo draws an Edmonton Elks defense that has had issues defending opposing offenses all season. Let me be more specific. Upon the completion of 11 games played in the 2024 CFL regular season, the Edmonton Els are ranked a dreadful ninth in total yards allowed to opposing offenses a game (393.7). Keep in mind that the CFL has nine teams in the entire league. Clearly, the data just presented tells us that the Edmonton Elks are currently not a good defensive team.

More specifically, Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander accumulated 247 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in the Montreal Alouettes win over Hamilton.

It is noteworthy that Montreal Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo is available to play this week. However, as of this writing it appears that Davis Alexander will start this week’s contest versus the Roughriders.

Charleston Rambo, Wide Receiver, Montreal Alouettes, $5,800

How important has wide receiver Charleston Rambo been to the Montreal Alouettes offense this season? In the nine games that Charleston Rambo has played for the Alouettes in the 2024 CFL regular season, Montreal quarterbacks have targeted Rambo a robust 43 times. In those 43 targets just mentioned, Rambo tallied 31 receptions, 410 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns.

Earlier today, the Montreal Alouettes announced that wide receiver Tyson Philpot will not play in this week’s CFL game. The unfortunate loss of Philpot should allow Charleston Rambo to have more of an opportunity to prosper within the Montreal offense.

In my opinion, Montreal wide receiver Charleston Rambo presents the best fantasy value of any player on this one game CFL Draftkings Showdown slate.

Reggie White Jr., Wide Receiver, Montreal Alouettes $4,800

In addition to Charleston Rambo, wide receiver Reggie White Jr. has been a key contributor to the Montreal Alouettes offense in the 2024 CFL regular season. A clear illustration of White Jr.’s contribution to the offense can be seen in his performance versus the Roughriders earlier this season. In the Montreal Alouettes 20-16 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders three weeks ago, Montreal wide receiver Reggie White Jr. accumulated four receptions, 50 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns.

Samuel Emilus, Wide Receiver, Saskatchewan Roughriders $6,800

Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Samuel Emilus’s play on the football field this season has been exceptional. In the nine games that Samuel Emilus has played for the Roughriders in 2024, Emilus has accumulated a whopping 48 receptions, 539 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.

I fully expect Samuel Emilus to continue to post outstanding fantasy numbers versus the Alouettes on Friday night.

Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo was certainly the driving force behind the Montreal Alouettes successful 2023 campaign that resulted in a Grey Cup victory. Having stated that, how did Cody Fajardo perform from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Fajardo’s relevant key player game data from the 2023 CFL regular season to answer that question.

In the 18 games that quarterback Cody Fajardo played for the Montreal Alouettes in the 2023 CFL regular season, Fajardo accumulated an impressive 3,847 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, and 341 rushing yards.

How is Fajardo playing this season? In three games played for the Montreal Alouettes in the 2024 CFL regular season, Fajardo is averaging 325.1 passing yards a game.

More recently, in the Montreal Alouettes dominating 47-21 win over the Ottawa Redblacks last week, Fajardo played rather well. More specifically, Fajardo accumulated a whopping 393 passing yards and three passing touchdowns in the Alouettes defeat of the Ottawa Redblacks.

I also like Cody Fajardo’s matchup in this game. Why? Montreal Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo draws a Toronto Argonauts defense that has had issues defending the quarterback position this season. Upon the completion of three games in the 2024 CFL regular season, the Toronto Argonauts are ranked an abysmal seventh in total passing yards allowed (323.5) a game to the quarterback position. Let us not forget that the CFL has nine teams in the entire league. Clearly, being ranked seventh in any defensive category is not good.

Keep that in mind as you determine which players to select as your flex plays for this one game Draftkings contest. For me, the obvious first choice at the flex position for this CFL Draftkings contest is Montreal Aouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo.

Flex Plays

Tyson Philpot, WR, Montreal Alouettes $8,400

It’s fair to say that Montreal Alouettes receiver Tyson Philpot has been targeted by Montreal quarterback Cody Fajardo early and often in the 2024 CFL campaign. In three games played for the Alouettes this season, Montreal quarterback Cody Fajardo has targeted Tyson Philpot 27 times. In those 27 targets, Philpot accumulated 23 receptions, 340 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns.

I noted earlier in this article that the Toronto Argonauts have been less than stellar defending the pass in 2024. Having stated that, I think locking up Montreal Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo and wide receiver Tyson Philpot as flex plays is the smart way to attack this one game CFL slate.
