Until the wins and covers stop, I’ll keep siding with the Redblacks, a team that’s certainly played better ball than the Lions up to this point.

Yes, the Redblacks have a bad reputation from past seasons and aren’t supposed to be good this year, but 6-2-1 SU is 6-2-1 SU. A 6-3 ATS record is a 6-3 ATS record. Oh, a 4-0-1 SU record at home is still a… At some point, you admit the Redblacks are playing good football and start showing respect. The BC Lions are a below average defensive team and while they have success moving the ball, they don’t finish drives. The Redblacks are winning and are second in both total offense and total defense. Give me the Redblacks and the free points in a game they probably win outright.

Talented Winnipeg running back Brady Olivera has certainly been a key contributor to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers offense in 2024. Let’s review Olivera’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the eight games that running back Brady Olivera has played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2024 CFL regular season, Olivera tallied 611 rushing yards, 32 receptions, and 264 receiving yards.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the eight games that Olivera has played for the Blue Bombers this season, Olivera has averaged a respectable 15.9 Draftkings points a contest.

These two teams played earlier this season. Who prevailed? Two weeks ago, the Blue Bombers defeated the BC Lions 25-0. In Winnipeg’s shutout win over the Lions just mentioned, Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back Brady Olivera played exceptionally well. Olivera poured in 100 rushing yards, four receptions, and 42 receiving yards. Clearly, Brady Olivera is playing outstanding football entering this week’s matchup with the Lions.

Zach Collaros, Quarterback, Winnipeg Blue Bombers $10,700

How important has quarterback Zach Collaros been to Winnipeg Blue Bombers offense this season? Let’s take a quick look at Zach Collaros’s recent play on the football field to answer that question.

In the nine games that quarterback Zach Collaros as played for the Blue Bombers in 2024, Collaros has accumulated 2,018 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and added 35 rushing yards.

Additionally, I like Zach Collaros’s matchup in this game. Why? Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros draws a BC Lions defense that has had issues defending the quarterback position in the 2024 CFL regular season. Upon the completion of nine games played this season, the BC Lions are ranked a rather low sixth in total passing yards allowed (289.8) a game to the quarterback position. Keep in mind that the CFL has nine teams in the entire league.

For the reasons just noted, I am backing Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros as a flex play for this one game CFL Draftkings Showdown contest.

Lucky Whitehead, Wide Receiver, Winnipeg Blue Bombers $5,800

In the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 25-0 shutout defeat of the BC Lions earlier this month, Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Lucky Whitehead was targeted by Winnipeg quarterbacks six times. In those six targets, Whitehead accumulated six receptions and 56 receiving yards.

In my opinion, Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Lucky Whitehead presents outstanding fantasy value at the low Draftkings price of only $5,800.

The BC Lions have been the better team this season, but they have had issues defensively, and they’re coming off a shutout loss to the Blue Bombers. Also, this will be the third straight road game for BC, which can’t be fun. The Edmonton Elks finally won a game and while it’s just one win, putting Tre Ford at quarterback adds playmaking ability and life to the team overall. In last week’s Edmonton Elks 42-31 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, wide receiver Tevin Jones had a breakout performance. Let me be more specific. In the Elks victory over the Roughriders just mentioned, Saskatchewan wide receiver Tevin Jones tallied three receptions and 123 receiving yards.

In my opinion, Edmonton wide receiver Tevin Jones presents the best fantasy value of any player on this one game CFL DFS slate at the low affordable Draftkings price of only $5,600.

Edmonton Elks, Defense, $4,400

For those readers that are not aware, talented BC Lions signal caller Vernon Adams Jr. has been ruled out for this this Sunday’s matchup with the Elks. In my opinion, the loss of quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. will bring instability to the BC Lions offense. That instability should provide an opportunistic environment for turnovers to the Edmonton Elks defense. I think this Edmonton Elks defense has a real opportunity to break this one game slate.
