After 4 games without a win, Villarreal has beaten Rayo Vallecano on the road, and it was a fantastic win they need to boost their confidence. As I’ve mentioned, Villarreal is still in the Europa League hunt, and with a win here they will get to that 6^th place, but they need the win. Overall, Villarreal has been successful this season, they have reached the Champions League semifinals, and they are still fighting for Europe, but I think they wanted to do better in LaLiga. With only 35 conceded goals so far this season, Villarreal is one of the best defensive teams in the league this season, but it simply wasn’t enough to stay close to the top. Villarreal has a few questionable players for this game, but they need to go for the win because I don’t think they want the pressure in the last round.

Sociedad is not scoring a lot of goals, less than they are capable of, but they are still in the Europa League spot, for now. In their last game against Cadiz, Real Sociedad has stepped up, and they have gotten a precious 3-0 win. Sociedad might not have the offense this season, but they certainly have the defense, and they have conceded only 34 goals so far this season. Oyarzabal is the leading goalscorer for Sociedad with only 9 scored goals, while Isak has added 5 goals. David Silva has 4 assists. Unfortunately for Sociedad, Oyarzabal is injured, and I’m not sure where they will get the goals from in this game, and the next one. In the last game of the season, Sociedad is playing against Atletico Madrid, which means they need a positive result out of this game, which certainly won’t be easy. Sociedad is not a bad team, they are very good defensive teams, but I’m not sure how much good will that do in these last two games of the season.

Villarreal has been outstanding at home so far this season, but they still have a lot of questionable players, and they need to go for the win here. I know that even the Conference League is a decent European competition, but it’s below Villarreal. Sociedad will once again focus on defense in this game, and that might be the only thing that will keep them alive.

Barcelona is now in a mini-slump or something where they can’t score goals, and if they do, they need 10 chances to do it. In the standings, Barcelona is in 3^rd place with 60 points, but if they win in this game they are going back to 2^nd. With 60 scored goals, Barcelona is among the best offensive teams in the league, as the matter of fact, only Real Madrid has scored more, but as I’ve mentioned Barcelona hasn’t been themselves lately. The injury list is getting shorter and shorter for Barcelona, which means we will finally see some players we haven’t seen in a while. I think Barcelona has a decent schedule until the end of the season, their goal is to qualify for the Champions League because Real Madrid is too far ahead of them, and they are already working on their summer signings. Barcelona has a lot of depth right now, they are capable of scoring a lot of goals, and they have for a while, but now they need to get back to it because they will need those goals soon.

Real Sociedad hasn’t won any of their last 5 games against Barcelona, but they have been really good at home this season. Barcelona is in decent form on the road this season, but they better start using their chances. Sociedad is without a few key players, and Barcelona will take advantage of that.

Despite having a great defense, Real Sociedad won’t get far because they lack offense, and if you want to be the top team in LaLiga, that will not work.

Espanyol was without a win in LaLiga for a while, but they are now undefeated in their last 3 games. During this streak, Espanyol has scored 4 goals, while they have also kept 2 clean sheets. Thanks to these few positive results, Espanyol has climbed to 12^th place with 36 points. Diego Lopez is now the only injured player for Espanyol. De Tomas has been in excellent form this season, and he has scored 14 goals so far. Darder has added 7 assists. Espanyol hasn’t been the greatest team on the road this season, they have only 1 win, but they can secure their LaLiga spot for next season by playing well only at home. There isn’t too much pressure on Espanyol for the rest of the season but winning a few more points certainly wouldn’t hurt them.

Sociedad hasn’t lost to Espanyol in their last 5 home games and I suspect it might stay that way. As I’ve mentioned, Espanyol is not great on the road, but they certainly won’t go down without a fight.

After winning the first leg in the Europa League against West Ham, Sevilla has lost the second leg, and they got knocked out of Europe. I think Sociedad is good enough to get into the top 4, but the competition is really strong this season, and that race will be really tight until the very end. In those 3 wins, Sociedad has scored 4 goals, and they have kept 3 clean sheets, but in the game, they have lost, Sociedad has conceded 4 goals while scoring only 1. Oyarzabal is still the leading goalscorer for Sociedad with 9 goals, but he is injured alongside a few other players. Some important players are injured for Sociedad, and that could rattle their cage, but their defense is pretty good, and that is what they will rely on in this game. I think Sociedad can get a positive result out of this game, but they will need to score a goal early because Sevilla is master in scoring late.

The biggest problem for Real Madrid now is they are playing in the Champions League next week, and it’s against PSG. With 44 points, Sociedad is now in 6^th place, and they have been much better defensively than offensively. Sociedad has scored only 27 goals, but they have also conceded only 25 goals, and that is what kept them in the top half of the table during their slump. Now that Sociedad has gotten knocked out of the Europa League, they can solely focus on LaLiga, and they will do everything to qualify for the Champions League. Oyarzabal has scored 8 goals and added 2 assists for Sociedad, and he is expected to be in the starting lineup here. There are a lot of injuries in Sociedad, and some of those players will surely be missed. After this game, Sociedad is playing against Sevilla, but after that, it gets a bit easier for them. Sociedad is a solid team, they need to improve offensively, but they need to stay this solid on the defensive end.

One of the big issues for this Real Sociedad team is they have been inconsistent and it has shown in the last few games. Just three games ago against Real Betis, the defense really struggled giving up four goals. In the last game against Granada, the defense was better, not giving up a goal, and the offense scored two goals. RB Leipzig is the much better team and they are a lot more consistent than Real Sociedad. With this nice streak, Villarreal will be a threat to anyone in LaLiga right now, they just need to keep playing this well. Villarreal has scored only 18 goals so far this season in LaLiga, but their defense was keeping them afloat with 17 conceded goals. Danjuma has been excellent for Villarreal this season with 5 scored goals. Even better news for Villarreal is their injured players have recovered, and that will certainly give them a bit more depth and quality on the bench. After this game, Villarreal is hosting Alaves, and that is definitely a game they should win and close this year on a positive note.

Sociedad has lost only 1 home game so far this season, and that is where they had their best games so far. Villarreal is on fire right now, they are in great form, and they are playing better and better. I see goals in this one, and I see them on both sides.

In the 40^th minute, Benzema has scored another goal for Real Madrid, and they have deservedly won this game 1-0. As far as the Europa League goes, Sociedad is in 3^rd place with 6 points, but if they beat PSV in the last round, they will advance to the next stage. I know it doesn’t feel good when you get knocked out, but I think that actually might be a good thing for Sociedad because it would give them the chance to focus on LaLiga and make a push for the title.
