Rutgers has lost three games in a row and their defense has been pretty bad, as they have allowed 75+ points in each of those three losses. The Scarlet Knights are shooting 44.3% from the field this year and they are 2-5 in their last seven road games. Rutgers has a bunch of young talent that is capable of going off, but I don’t trust them on the road. Take Washington here.

Northwestern also recently Minnesota, which is the most impressive thing either of these teams have done lately. We’re not laying much. Nebraska Cornhuskers Betting Preview

The Cornhuskers were looking great as the year flipped over to 2025, but since then they’ve had some troubles in the record column amid a tough Big Ten schedule. Nebraska won 12 of their first 14 games, losing to only Saint Mary’s and Michigan State amid wins over UTRGV, Bethune-Cookman, Fairleigh Dickinson, Creighton, South Dakota, North Florida, Indiana, Murray State, Hawaii, Oregon State, Southern, and UCLA in that time. The Cornhuskers would hit the skids over the next six games though, falling to Iowa, Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, USC, and Wisconsin in that time. Nebraska has since stopped the bleeding, however, taking out Illinois and Oregon in their last pair for a 14-8 overall record through the first 22 games so far.

In the Oregon matchup on Sunday, the Cornhuskers came out of the break with a 34-28 advantage. Nebraska kept the pace from there on a 43-43 run and took the road victory 77-17 in impressive fashion. Leading team scorer Brice Williams posted 28 points with seven rebounds and six assists. Juwan Gary added 23 points with five rebounds, while Rollie Worster came off the bench for 11 points, three rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of action.

Over on the Huskies’ side, they’ve had a couple of good runs in the books so far this year but have barely managed to keep their heads above the .500 mark overall. Washington won six of their first seven games though, losing to Nevada amid wins over UC Davis, Seattle Pacific, UMass Lowell, Alcorn State, Colorado State, and Santa Clara. A 4-3 run came next with losses to UCLA, USC, and Seattle U amid wins over Eastern Washington, Washington State, NJIT, and Maryland. Following more losses to Illinois, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Oregon, and UCLA, the Huskies managed a win over Minnesota for an 11-10 overall record this year.

Matched up against Minnesota on Saturday, the Huskies were in good shape after the first half sporting a 40-30 edge. Washington was outscored 38-31 the rest of the way in a 71-68 win. Tyler Harris was the team’s leading scorer with 23 points and four rebounds. Great Osobor added 16 points with 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals. Zoom Diallo added 11 points with four rebounds and five assists off the bench in 30 minutes of work, while Mekhi Mason chipped in 23 points and four rebounds.

Washington vs Nebraska Prediction

I’ll stick with Nebraska. Probably not touching this one, though. It seems like it’s more in coin-flip territory than anything. That said, Nebraska is coming off quite an impressive effort versus Oregon, hitting 51 percent from the field with a 35-32 rebounding edge in the road victory. The Cornhuskers scored 12 points off 10 Ducks turnovers but did have 12 turnovers themselves for 16 points on the other side. The 3-point shooting wasn’t good either (4-of-23 for 17.4 percent). Still, it was a very nice victory. Nebraska now has consecutive wins over ranked teams (Illinois is the other) following a six-game losing streak.

As for Washington, they didn’t shoot great (41.8 percent) in the Minnesota game and gave up 14 turnovers for 18 Gophers points. The Huskies also gave up 52.3 percent shooting on the other side but saved themselves with a nice performance from the line (18-of-21 for 85.7 percent) and a 33-25 rebounding edge (13-5 offensive). Washington had been below 59 points in three of their previous five games (all losses), so it was a nice total (71). This game could break a lot of ways, but overall I think the Cornhuskers have a slightly better cover chance.

The Huskies opened their year on a pretty solid run. Since the calendar flipped to the new year however, they’ve had trouble finding wins. Washington started out on a 6-1 stretch, losing to only Nevada amid wins over UC Davis, Seattle Pacific, UMass Lowell, Alcorn State, Colorado State and Santa Clara otherwise. A 4-3 stretch came after that, with losses to UCLA, USC and Seattle U amid wins over Eastern Washington, Washington State, NJIT and Maryland. Since then it’s been a string of six straight losses for the Huskies. They’ve fallen to Illinois, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Oregon and UCLA during a tough run. The result in the record column so far has been a 10-10 overall run through 20 games for Washington.

In their matchup last Friday versus UCLA, the Huskies held a 36-32 deficit by the end of the first half. Washington didn’t end up gaining any ground in the second on a 29-28 deficit and lost the game 65-60 in the end. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Great Osobor with 19 points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block. Zoom Diallo added eight points with four rebounds and a pair of assists, while Tyree Ihenacho came off the bench for eight points, one rebound and one assist in 21 minutes of work on the floor.

Minnesota Golden Gophers Betting Preview

Over on the Minnesota side, they’ve had some solid runs of play this year—and also some rough stretches. The Gophers have barely been able to keep their heads above the .500 mark so far this season. Minnesota took out Oral Roberts, Omaha, Yale, Cleveland State and Central Michigan (with a loss to North Texas) during a 5-1 start. A 3-4 run came next with losses to Wichita State, Wake Forest, Michigan State and Indiana amid wins over Bethune-Cookman, Fairleigh Dickinson and Morgan State otherwise. Minnesota would lose the next four versus Purdue, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Maryland. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with wins over Michigan, Iowa and Oregon ahead of a loss to Michigan State for an 11-10 overall record. I

n their Tuesday matchup with Michigan State, the Gophers went into the second half limping after a rough 36-16 deficit. Minnesota got better in the second but didn’t get any closer on a 37-35 run for a 73-51 defeat in the end. Dawson Garcia was the team’s only scorer to reach double figures with 21 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block. Mike Mitchell (one rebound) and Lu’Cye Patterson (four assists) each notched eight points, and Isaac Asuma had eight points with three rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes of work off the bench.

Minnesota vs Washington Prediction

I’ll stay with Washington. You could probably call this one either way, though. Both teams could use a victory. The Huskies are coming off a sloppy loss to a pretty good UCLA team, posting 14 turnovers for 15 Bruins points. Washington didn’t shoot very well in that one (41.5 percent) and had a tepid eight team assists during the five-point defeat. The Huskies have scored fewer than 59 points in three of their last five games, and they’ve given up 81 or more points in four of the last six. As for Minnesota, they were demolished on the boards 40-22 in a road loss to Michigan State in their last game, shooting a tepid 41.2 percent along the way. The Gophers had scored 72 or more points in three straight wins prior to that however, so they should match up well here. I like Washington to power one out in a close overall game.

UCLA Bruins Betting Preview

The Bruins kicked off the season on a highly consistent run but then suffered a rough losing streak at the beginning of January. UCLA has since regained their composure in the last couple of games, however. The Bruins opened up on a 10-1 run, losing to only New Mexico among wins versus Rider, Boston U, Lehigh, Idaho State, Cal State Fullerton, Southern Utah, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Prairie View A&M. A 1-5 run came after that with a lone win over Gonzaga on December 28. Otherwise, it was losses to North Carolina, Nebraska, Michigan, Maryland, and Rutgers during that time. Since then UCLA has recovered with victories over Iowa and Wisconsin in successive games. That gives the Bruins a 13-6 overall record so far this season through 19 games.

On Tuesday in their matchup with Wisconsin, the Bruins were down 41-36 by halftime. UCLA recovered from there, however, posting a 49-42 second-half run on the way to a big victory 85-83 in the end. Aday Mara came off the bench to post 22 points with five rebounds and two assists to lead the team. Sebastian Mack added 19 points with four rebounds and two assists off the bench, while Tyler Bilodeau led the starters with 16 points and two rebounds. UCLA will take on USC, Oregon, Michigan State, and Penn State after this game.

A 4-3 stretch came next with losses to UCLA, USC, and Seattle U among wins over Eastern Washington, Washington State, NJIT, and Maryland in that time. Since then, however, Washington has hit the skids on a five-game losing streak. The defeats in that time came courtesy of Illinois, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, and Oregon, giving the Huskies a 10-9 overall run through the first 19 games of their season so far.

Matched up against Oregon in the Tuesday outing, the Huskies held a 34-32 disadvantage after the first half. Washington hit a 48-39 deficit the rest of the way, unfortunately, and didn’t end up getting any closer in an 82-71 loss. Leading the scoring was Great Osobor with 20 points, eight boards, and three assists. Zoom Diallo added 18 points with three rebounds and three assists, while Tyler Harris posted 15 points with two rebounds and two assists.

Why the Washington Huskies will win

Why the UCLA Bruins will win

• UCLA has won the first half in nine of its last 10 night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Washington vs UCLA Prediction

I’m staying with UCLA. The Bruins need to avoid the “big-win hangover” problem here, but if all goes well they’ll represent another tricky matchup for the Huskies. UCLA shot a nice 50.9 percent from the field with 10 points off 13 Badgers turnovers in their upset win over Wisconsin. The rebounding (a 28-25 deficit) could have been better, but that’s about the only issue in an otherwise solid performance—unless you count the fairly permissive defense allowing 83 points. In any case, UCLA is back to scoring well themselves after a bit of a lull. The Bruins have posted a combined 179 points across their last two outings.

As for Washington, they’ll finally get a beatable opponent at home following five straight games versus ranked squads (three of those coming on the road). The Huskies notched a respectable 71 or more points in three of those five games, however, they also allowed 81 or more points in four of them (69 in the outlier versus Purdue). UCLA should have room enough to score well here, and I like the Bruins to eke one out. Should be a pretty solid matchup regardless, though.

A 4-3 stretch came after that, featuring losses to Seattle U, UCLA and USC. The wins otherwise were versus Eastern Washington, Washington State, NJIT, and Maryland at that time. Since then the Huskies have lost four straight, falling to Illinois, Michigan State, Michigan, and Purdue in succession for a 10-8 overall record thus far.

In the Purdue game last Wednesday, the Huskies came out of halftime sporting a 30-22 edge. Washington was blitzed in the second half 47-28 however, and ended up falling 69-58 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Great Osobor with 28 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Mekhi Mason added 12 points with five rebounds, three steals and two assists off the bench. Zoom Diallo chipped in six points with four rebounds and three assists.

Oregon Ducks Betting Preview

Over on the Oregon side, they came out of the gate this year with a nine-game win streak and they’ve stayed consistent since then. The Ducks took out UC Riverside, Montana, Portland, Troy, Oregon State, Texas A&M, San Diego State, Alabama, and USC during that opening stretch before taking their first loss to UCLA on December 8. A 6-1 stretch commenced afterward with a lone loss to Illinois in the middle of wins versus Stephen F. Austin, Stanford, Weber State, Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State. Over the weekend the Ducks took another loss to Purdue, giving them a 15-3 overall record so far this season.

Matched up against Purdue in their Saturday outing, the Ducks held a slim 31-30 edge going into the locker room. Oregon ended up getting outscored 35-27 the rest of the way however and fell 65-58 by the final horn. Nate Bittle led the team with 18 points, six blocks, and two rebounds. Jackson Shelstad added 15 points with five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Also in double-figures was Brandon Angel, who contributed 10 points, five boards, and one assist in 24 minutes of work on the court during the defeat.

• Washington has lost 23 of its last 25 games against AP-ranked opponents.

Oregon vs Washington Prediction

I’m probably just going to stay with the Ducks. Oregon is coming off a rough loss versus a tricky Purdue team, and they’ll need to gather themselves for a bounce-back performance. The Ducks ended up with just 36 percent shooting with a 37-32 rebounding deficit (12-5 offensive) in that defeat, coughing up 16 turnovers for 15 Boilermakers points along the way. The good news is that Oregon held Purdue to just 33.9 percent shooting on the other side and scored 18 points off 12 turnovers. Still, the 58-point total was the Ducks’ lowest of the season and comes on the heels of 73 or more in seven straight (a 6-1 run).

As for Washington, they shot better versus Purdue in their latest loss (42.6 percent) but also allowed 50 percent shooting on defense. The 17 turnovers for 18 Boilermakers points didn’t help matters either. The Huskies have been below 59 points in two of their last three games (an 0-3 run) but to be fair they’ve taken on some tough teams in that time. This matchup will be another difficult one, and I don’t think Washington will end up keeping the pace.

The Purdue Boilermakers beat Rutgers and Nebraska, and they play Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan next. The Purdue Boilermakers are averaging 78.4 points on 49.8 percent shooting and allowing 68.6 points on 43.2 percent shooting. Trey Kaufman-Renn is averaging 17.5 points and 6.2 rebounds, while Braden Smith is averaging 15 points and 4.6 rebounds. Fletcher Loyer is the third double-digit scorer and Daniel Jacobson is grabbing 3.5 rebounds. The Purdue Boilermakers are shooting 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 71.2 percent from the free throw line. The Purdue Boilermakers are allowing 30.1 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 30.4 rebounds per game.

The Washington Huskies lost to Michigan State and Michigan, and they play Oregon, UCLA, and Minnesota next. The Washington Huskies are averaging 73.3 points on 43.9 percent shooting and allowing 71.8 points on 44.7 percent shooting. Great Osobor is averaging 14.3 points and 8.6 rebounds, while Tyler Harris is averaging 12 points and 5.3 rebounds. Zoom Diallo is the third double-digit scorer and DJ Davis is dishing 1 assist. The Washington Huskies are shooting 65.6 percent from beyond the arc and 65.6 percent from the free throw line. The Washington Huskies are allowing 29.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 31.6 rebounds per game.

The Purdue Boilermakers will be without Daniel Jacobsen due to a knee injury. The Washington Huskies won’t have Chris Conway and Franck Kepnang. Jase Butler and DJ Davis are questionable for Washington.

It’s hard to take the Washington Huskies seriously after their last three games, where they’re 0-3 SU and ATS. Washington has allowed 81 or more points in all three of those losses. Washington’s defense struggling isn’t what you want to see with Purdue coming to town. Purdue is 14th in offensive field goal percentage and 12th in offensive three-point percentage. The Purdue Boilermakers are also 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four games. Purdue is also 5-2 ATS in its last seven games as a favorite. This feels like two teams heading in different directions. I’ll side with the Boilermakers in a road double-digit victory.

Washington Huskies Betting Preview

The Huskies opened up their 2024-25 season on a pretty solid run, but they’ve been a little choppy since then amid some tough matchups. Washington lost just one of their first seven games versus Nevada. Otherwise, it was wins over UC Davis, Seattle Pacific, UMass Lowell, Alcorn State, Colorado State, and Santa Clara. A 2-3 stretch came after that, featuring wins over Eastern Washington and Washington State amid losses to UCLA, USC, and Seattle U. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run with wins over NJIT and Maryland ahead of losses to Michigan State and Illinois for a 10-6 overall record for the Huskies so far this season.

In the Michigan State game back on Thursday, the Huskies came out of the break looking up at an ugly 42-13 deficit on the scoreboard. Washington was outscored 46-41 from there during a blowout loss 88-54. Tops in scoring (and the only team player to finish in double-figures) was Tyler Harris with 14 points and three rebounds. Zoom Diallo added eight points with two rebounds, while Luis Kortright came off the bench for seven points, six assists, and two rebounds in 25 minutes of work on the floor during the defeat.

Michigan Wolverines Betting Preview

Over on the Wolverines’ side, they kicked off their season with a win over Cleveland State, then fell to Wake Forest in game two. Michigan hit a nice win streak over TCU, Miami Ohio, Tarleton State, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Wisconsin, and Iowa in the next seven outings, then took consecutive losses versus Arkansas and Oklahoma. Since then Michigan has been on a nice four-game win streak. Those victories have come courtesy of Fort Wayne, Western Kentucky, USC, and UCLA in succession, giving the Wolverines a 12-3 overall record so far this year.

In the UCLA matchup, the Wolverines held a 10-point edge by the break. Michigan kept it rolling in the second half, posting a 47-38 run for a 94-75 win in the end. Tops in scoring was Vladislav Goldin with 36 points, seven boards, and two assists. Tre Donaldson added 20 points with six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Nimari Burnett posted 17 points with four assists and four rebounds alongside two steals in 37 minutes of work during the victory. Michigan will meet Minnesota, Northwestern, and Purdue after this game. 

Why the Michigan Wolverines will win

• Washington has lost each of its last 16 day games against AP-ranked opponents.
• Michigan has won each of its last seven games at Crisler Center.
• Michigan has won the first half in each of its last 11 games against non-AP-ranked opponents.

Michigan vs Washington Prediction

I’ll lean toward Michigan. If the Wolverines can put together another complete game like they did against UCLA here, everything should work out well. Michigan shot a stellar 61.5 percent from the field with 15-of-28 (53.6 percent) from 3-point range and a 35-27 rebounding edge in that one. The only real blemish was the 16 turnovers for 20 Bruins points. Provided Michigan can cut down those mistakes (and maybe get a little more production from the bench this time) they’ll be tough to beat. Michigan has been scoring great lately. They’ve hit 85 or more points in seven straight games—a 5-2 overall run.

As for Washington, they were blitzed by Michigan State from the very beginning in their latest loss. The Huskies mustered just 13 first-half points in that defeat, eventually posting 32.7 percent shooting from the field, 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from outside, a 40-30 rebounding deficit, and 15 turnovers for 13 Spartans points. Washington has given up a combined 169 points across their last two games, but to be fair those have come against a couple of tough teams. Michigan will be another difficult matchup (and there are more ranked teams coming up in Purdue, Oregon, and UCLA). I don’t quite think the Huskies will get there cover-wise, so I’ll stick with the Wolverines here.

The Michigan State Spartans come into this one looking to keep the momentum going after improving to 12-2 on the year with a 69-62 win over Ohio State last time out. After this game, the Spartans will head back on the road for a matchup with Northwestern.

I’m on the Spartans here. I get the case to be made for a sizeable underdog in conference play like Washington, but this is just a bad matchup for the Huskies here. The Huskies were able to keep Illinois within arms’ reach because the Illini shoot a lot of threes and one strength of Washington’s defense is defending the perimeter. However, that is the opposite of what Michigan State likes to do, as they like to get inside and score inside as well as draw fouls and get to the line, which Washington also does a lot of as well. I think this is one of those games that just sees the margin get wider and wider and all of a sudden Michigan State’s winning and covering in a runaway so I’ll lay the points with the Spartans here.

Illinois Fighting Illini Betting Preview:

The Illini got off to a 3-0 start this year, rolling past Eastern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, and Oakland before taking their first loss to Alabama on November 20. Illinois hit another three-game win streak after that over Maryland-Eastern Shore, Little Rock, and Arkansas, but then went 1-2 over the next trio with a lone win over Wisconsin in between losses to Northwestern and Tennessee. Since then Illinois has taken yet another three-game win streak, dispatching Missouri, Chicago State, and Oregon in that trio for a 10-3 overall record this year.

In the Oregon matchup back on Thursday, the Illini came out of halftime looking up at a 45-38 advantage on the scoreboard. Illinois kept the pressure on in the second half, bombing in 64 more points in a decisive win 109-77. Leading the team in the victory with a double-double was Tre White with 20 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Ben Humrichous added 18 points with two boards and one assist, and Kasparas Jakucionis had 16 points with six rebounds and six assists. Topping the bench players was Jake Davis with 12 points and three boards in 11 minutes. Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn added 11 points and two boards as well.

Over on the Washington side, they rolled to a 6-1 overall record this year. The lone loss in that time was versus Nevada. Zoom Diallo added 18 points with five boards, six assists, and two steals off the bench, while DJ Davis added 17 points in 24 minutes of work. The next-highest starter was Wilhelm Breidenbach with five points, one rebound, and one steal, though.

Washington vs Illinois Prediction

I’ll lean toward Illinois. The Illini played with confidence and conviction in their blowout win over Oregon during their last appearance, powering out an impressive win. Illinois shot a nice 57.5 percent from the field in that one alongside a scorching 55.2 percent from the field and a 43-31 rebounding advantage. The Ducks didn’t play terribly on offense themselves, but simply couldn’t keep up with the surge. During this three-game win streak, Illinois is scoring great. They’ve got 80 or more in all three games, and a combined 226 points in the last two outings alone. It’s unfair to think Illinois will keep up that torrid pace in this one, but another 80-point outing doesn’t seem too far-fetched to believe.

As for Washington, they had a pretty muted performance from all of their starters outside of Osobor in their latest comeback win. The Huskies got just 11 combined points from the other four players. The good news is that Washington shot 45.6 percent from the field and looked good on the boards (33) in a win. That makes 70 or more points in five straight (a 4-1 run), so we should have a pretty good total here if both teams continue their current trajectories. In the end, however, I like Illinois to stay hot and control this one for a nice cover.

Maryland Terrapins Betting Preview

The Terrapins have been in very good shape for most of the year, outside of a couple blemishes. Maryland beat Manhattan, Mount St. Mary’s, and Florida A&M in their first three games before taking a loss to Marquette. The Terrapins would take out Canisius, Villanova, Bucknell, Alcorn State, and Ohio State in the next five before another loss to Purdue. Since then it’s been three wins over St. Francis PA, Syracuse, and Maryland-Eastern Shore.

In Saturday’s game versus MD-Eastern Shore, the Terrapins came out of the break with a dominant 40-24 advantage. Maryland cruised from there on 41 second-half points and took the win 81-66. Topping the team’s scorers was Julian Reese, who doubled up on 23 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Derik Queen also filled up the stat sheet with his own double-double of 18 points, 14 rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Selton Miguel chipped in 10 points as well.

Queen is leading the team in scoring so far this year, notching 16.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Ja’Kobi Gillespie is second with 13.7 points and 4.5 assists per game. Reese leads the way in rebounds per game with 9.1, and he’s also scoring 12.8 points per game.

Over on the Huskies’ side, they won six of their first seven games. The lone loss was to Nevada; otherwise, it was victories versus UC Davis, Seattle Pacific, UMass Lowell, Alcorn State, Colorado State, and Santa Clara. Washington would lose to UCLA and USC in the next pair, then rattled off wins over Eastern Washington, Washington State, and NJIT alongside a loss to Seattle U on December 23.

On Sunday versus NJIT, Washington took a pretty easy win. The Huskies were in control 46-26 after the first half, then hit a 44-27 run on the way to a blowout 90-53 result. Great Osobor (six rebounds; three assists) and Zoom Diallo (five assists; three rebounds off the bench) each scored a team-high 12 points. Wilhelm Breidenbach added 10 points with five boards as well.

Osobor is sitting in first place among Washington’s scorers with 14.2 points per game. He’s also leading in rebounds (8.7) and assists (3.6) so far. Tyler Harris has 13.5 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game, while Diallo is sitting at 10.6 points per game.

Why the Washington Huskies will win

• Washington has won eight of its last nine night games at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
• Maryland has lost each of its last three road night games against the Big Ten Conference.

Washington vs Maryland Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Terrapins, but this should be a pretty great matchup regardless. Maryland blew right past MD-Eastern Shore in their last game, shooting 47.6 percent from the field with 37 rebounds and 17 team assists. The Terrapins held the opposition to 25 percent (4-of-16) from outside and scored 23 points off 14 turnovers in a pretty solid all-around effort—despite a slower second half. In any case, Maryland has scored 74 or more points in every game this year, and they’ve held opponents below 68 points in six of the last seven outings. That said, the Terrapins also gave up 78 points to Marquette and 83 to Purdue, so Washington could post a pretty sizable total here if all goes well.

Speaking of Washington, they didn’t have any issues at all versus a struggling NJIT team in a much-needed win their last time out. The Huskies shot a smooth 55.7 percent from the field in that one, bagging 33 rebounds and 21 assists to boot. Back in early December, the Huskies had a couple of rough outings versus UCLA and USC, posting 58 and 61 points respectively in those games. Since then, however, it’s been 70 or more points in four straight matchups—three of which were won with 87 or more points in each. I like Washington to be competitive initially here, with Maryland powering out the cover.

The Louisville Cardinals come into the bowl game with an 8-4 overall record on behalf of the ACC. This will be the 4^th straight bowl appearance for the Cardinals after losing the Holiday Bowl last year.

Cardinals Looking To Get Back On Track In Bowl Game

The Louisville Cardinals have some interesting names in the transfer portal/opt-out list, including starting QB Tyler Shough, who threw for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 62.7% passing as it was announced that he would not be playing in this game as well as two of his top receivers, including leading receiver Ja’Corey Brooks, who had 61 receptions for 1,013 yards and 9 touchdowns this season. Chris Bell still looks like he’s going to play after logging 677 receiving yards and 37 receptions with 4 touchdowns. Isaac Brown will play as well after rushing for a team-high 1,074 yards and 11 touchdowns and Duke Watson had 514 rushing yards with 7 TDs as well. On defense, the most notable losses will be DE Ashton Gillotte, who had a team-high 4.5 sacks this season, and CB Quincy Riley, but Louisville will retain their top two tacklers in TJ Quinn who had 79 tackles total and Stanquan Clark, who chipped in 72 total tackles, a team-high 42 solo tackles as well as a pair of interceptions.

Why the Louisville Cardinals will win

• Louisville has won four of its last five games.
• The favorite has covered the spread in eight of Washington’s last nine games.
• Washington has failed to cover the spread in six of its last seven games as an underdog.
• Louisville has won the first quarter in eight of its last 10 games against non-conference opponents.

The Washington Huskies followed up their appearance in the national championship from last year by going 6-6 overall this season, their first full season as a member of the Big Ten. It will be Washington’s third straight season bowling after an Alamo Bowl victory in year one under Kalen DeBoer back in 2022.

Huskies Hoping To Finish Season On High Note

The Huskies have some interesting roster developments of their own in this game, most notably the benching of starting QB Will Howard, which happened in the season finale, and head coach Jedd Fisch has stated that Demond Williams will get the start in the bowl game. The Huskies do lose their starting LT Kahlee Tafai, who has already transferred to Minnesota as well as starting LG Gaard Memmelaar. Starting RB Jonah Coleman is potentially opting out for this game for Washington, but has stated he will return in 2024 after rushing for 1,011 yards and 9 touchdowns. It at least looks like Washington will have their top two receivers in Denzel Boston who had 60 grabs for 807 yards and 9 touchdowns. Giles Jackson also has 74 receptions for 732 yards and 3 touchdowns. On defense, the majority of the starters return, led by Carson Bruener, who had 93 total tackles and 3 interceptions to lead the Huskies this season.

• Louisville has lost three of its last four December games as a favorite.
• Washington has won three of its last four games as an underdog at neutral venues.
• Louisville has failed to cover the spread in five of its last six games played at neutral venues.
• Washington has covered the spread in four of its last five Bowl games.

I’m on Washington here. I know that both teams will likely not play with their starting QBs here, at least Louisville will for sure, and without Shough, I just don’t see the Cardinals having a ton of success offensively. I think Washington’s the better team here and the majority of their starting skill position players should be good to go here and I think that ends up being the difference in this one. Give me the Washington Huskies here.

Seattle Redhawks Betting Preview

The Redhawks lost their first three games this year before wins over UC San Diego and Northwest U. Seattle is just 2-5 since then though, losing to Furman, Duke, UTEP, Western Kentucky, and UIC in that stretch.

Matched up against UIC on Friday, the Redhawks went into the second half with a 34-32 deficit. Seattle didn’t get any closer than that with a 45-36 run and lost 79-68. Leading team scorer Brayden Maldonado came off the bench for 22 points and three steals.

I’ll just stay with Washington here. The Huskies looked pretty good on 50 percent shooting and just seven turnovers in the win over a good Washington State team. That said, Washington also got demolished on the boards 42-23 and hit just 17 of their 26 free throws (65.4 percent). The 24 points off 22 Washington State turnovers helped massively. That said, Washington has a combined 176 points over the last two games, which follows just 119 points combined over the previous pair (both losses).

As for Seattle, they had 16 turnovers for 14 Flames points in their loss to UIC and shot a tepid 41.4 percent from the field. The Redhawks have scored quite well lately with 68 or more points in five straight games (a 2-3 run), but they’re giving up a ton on the other side. Washington should be able to find plenty of points in this one.

I’m on USC and the points here. The Trojans haven’t looked great as of late, but I think they’re a better team than what they’ve shown. The Huskies have had their ups and downs as well, but the thing is that Washington’s found themselves in a lot of close games, even when they’re the better team. I think this is going to be another tight affair and I want the points in my back pocket.

UCLA Bruins Betting Preview

Tyler Bilodeau is averaging 13.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game, while UCLA is shooting 48.2% from the field, 72.9% on free throws, and 31.7% on three pointers this year.

Both of teams come into this game with a 6-1 record the season and they are both on lengthy winning streaks, but UCLA will have the home court advantage. The Bruins have scored at least 80 points in four straight games and they are allowing just 52.4 points against per game. Washington is shooting just 42.3% from the field and I think they are going to have some trouble with this UCLA defense. Both teams have been solid on the defensive end of the floor and I think we see a lower scoring game here. Take the under.

Colorado State Rams Betting Preview

The Rams looked pretty good over their first three games of the season. Colorado State posted wins over North Dakota, Tennessee State, and Denver during that period. The last two outings have both been losses, however, as the Rams have fallen to Ole Miss and UC Riverside.

Matched up against UC Riverside on Friday, the Rams hit a 39-38 second-half advantage in order to force overtime but eventually lost a tough one 77-75. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson topped the team in the losing effort with 21 points and seven rebounds.

Washington Huskies Betting Preview

Over on the Huskies’ side, they opened up the year with a six-point win over UC Davis, then fell by 10 to Nevada in game two. Washington has since recovered with three straight victories, taking out Seattle Pacific, UMass Lowell, and Alcorn State in that trio.

Back on Friday versus Alcorn State, the Huskies held a modest 36-34 advantage by the break. Washington hit a 41-26 run in the second half however, leading to a 77-60 win. Tyler Harris was tops on 27 points with eight rebounds in 33 minutes of work.

• Colorado State has won seven of its last eight day games against non-AP-ranked opponents at a neutral venue.

• Colorado State has lost three of its last four games played at neutral venues.
• Colorado State has lost the first half in each of its last three day games against non-conference opponents.

Washington vs Colorado State Prediction

I’ll lean toward Washington. The Huskies started a bit slowly in their last outing versus Alcorn State but eventually shot 49 percent from the field with 36 rebounds. The 13 turnovers didn’t help, but Washington kept the winless Braves under 40 percent shooting (39.7) on the other side. The Huskies’ lone loss (63-53) was their only appearance this year with fewer than 74 points, so we should see a pretty good total here if all goes well.

As for Colorado State, they’ve got consecutive losses in the bag after a pretty hot start. The Rams shot a tepid 40.3 percent in the loss to UC Riverside, but the major stat was their 51-30 rebounding deficit (15-5 offensive). Washington has been pretty consistent on the boards so far this year, so I like the Huskies to power out the win with a notable rebounding advantage on Thursday. Should be a fun matchup regardless, though.

How Does Oregon Bounce Back?

Oregon won the last game against Wisconsin, but it wasn’t a dominant game and they ended up winning by only three points. Oregon scored only 16 points and they are going to need the offense to be better. Dillon Gabriel completed 22 of his 31 passes for 218 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Jordan James did have a strong game finishing with 25 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. Oregon on the season is averaging 33.9 points while their defense is giving up 15.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 24th in the league while the defense is ranked 8th in the league. 

Can Washington Build on the Last Game?

Washington in the last game faced off against the UCLA Bruins and they were able to secure a 31-19 victory. Will Rogers completed 13 of his 21 passes for 115 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Jonah Coleman finished with 21 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Washington on the season is averaging 22.6 points while their defense is giving up 20.5 points per game. The offense is ranked 109th in the league while the defense is ranked 27th. The defense overall this season has been good, and they are going to need the defense to step up here. 

Why Washington Will Cover Against Oregon

• Washington has won four of its last six games as an underdog against top-10 AP-ranked teams.
• Oregon has failed to cover the spread in each of its last five games against non-AP-ranked teams at Autzen Stadium.
• The underdog has covered the spread in five of Oregon’s last six games at Autzen Stadium.

Oregon vs Washington Prediction

This is a rivalry game, and somehow, Washington is going to keep it close. The way Oregon’s offense looked in the last game is a big concern for me, and their offense is going to find success. Washington is going to get a big game from Will Rogers, and he’s not going to be turning the ball over. The Huskies probably won’t be doing enough to win the game, but they are going to keep it close. Back Washington against the spread.
