I’m with Kent State. The Buffalo Bulls have had some major issues with defense that have started to show up again in a lot of their recent games. The Golden Flashes have a superior defense that can hold down some of the better mid-major teams out there. This is one of those games where even though Kent State doesn’t score a ton. Kent State still does more than enough to win this game by double-digits with their defense holding down Buffalo on that end of the floor. All in all, I think Kent State wins this game comfortably, so give me the Golden Flashes laying the points.

Liberty Flames Betting Preview

The Liberty Flames are 8-3 (5-3) this year after they lost to Sam Houston by a score of 20-18 in their last game. Liberty will not have their starting quarterback in this game, as Salter is transferring, and they are expected to have quite a few starters miss the game as well.

Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview

The Bulls went 4-3 over their first seven outings, beating Old Dominion, Fredonia State, Morgan State, and North Carolina A&T. It’s been a 1-2 run since then with losses to Penn State and St. Bonaventure around a win over Pittsburgh-Bradford.

In the St. Bonaventure game back on December 7, the Bulls came out of halftime with a 32-22 deficit. Buffalo kept the pace from there in a 65-55 loss. Ryan Sabol posted 14 points with three rebounds as the team’s leading scorer.

Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the Georgia side, they beat Tennessee Tech, TX Southern, North Florida, Georgia Tech, and Alabama A&M before a loss to Marquette. The Bulldogs have since beaten St. John’s, Jacksonville, Notre Dame, and Grand Canyon.

In the matchup with the Lopes, the Bulldogs were ahead 34-23 by the break. Georgia had to hold on after a 45-39 second-half deficit but won 73-68 in the end. Asa Newell was the team’s top scorer with 17 points and five boards.

Georgia vs Buffalo Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Bulldogs, but the line’s too thick to mess with. Georgia had a spotty second half against a pesky Grand Canyon team in their last outing and ended up with 18 turnovers. Everything worked out well, though. The Bulldogs have had a few relatively close finishes like that this year. Games against St. John’s and Tennessee Tech—as well as the loss to Marquette—featured Georgia at less than their best. Will that happen here as well? Probably not.

As for Buffalo, they had 18 turnovers of their own against a good St. Bonaventure team in their last outing. That makes 65 or fewer points in two of the last three games and 67 or fewer in each of the Bulls’ last four losses. I’m not super optimistic about their chances of staying anywhere close here.

I’m going to lean on Buffalo here. The Nittany Lions are the better team, but Buffalo can keep this reasonable, as they did against Notre Dame earlier this year. Give me Buffalo and the points.

Eastern Michigan’s Confidence Is Gone

Eastern Michigan can’t have a whole lot of confidence left after losing three straight games. Two games ago against Toledo they were competitive but ended up losing 29-28. In the last game against Ohio, the offense only scored 10 points, while the defense gave up 35 points and they ended up losing by 25 points. Cole Snyder was a major problem under center in the last game completing 18 of his 30 passes for 155 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Delbert Mimms has scored 166 carries for 71 yards. Eastern Michigan is averaging 27.3 points while their defense is giving up 27.2 points per game. 

Buffalo Coming off a Key Win

Buffalo became bowl-eligible in the last game, and even though it wasn’t the prettiest, they were able to secure the 51-48 victory in overtime. CJ Ogbonna had a strong game completing 19 of his 37 passes for 254 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Al-Jay Henderson also had a strong game finishing with 27 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns. JJ Jenkins caught eight passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. Two games ago against Akron, Buffalo scored 41 points and they ended up winning by 11 points. The Bulls on the season are averaging 26.9 points while their defense is giving up 30.9 points per game.

CJ Ogbonna completed 22 of his 39 passes for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. They allowed Hayden Wolf to throw for three touchdowns, and the defense needs to be better here.

Give me the Texas Longhorns here against the Oklahoma Sooners. Sure, it’s the Red River Rivalry, and sometimes the record books can be thrown out, but we have watched this Oklahoma team play football, right? They aren’t good, and it’s going to be a problem here. The Longhorns are coming off a bye week and Quinn Ewers is back for them. Ewers is going to have no issue leading Texas up and down the field, and this game is going to become a blowout city early. The Oregon Ducks are going to find success here against Ohio State. Ohio State’s defense has been good this season, but so has Oregon, and the Ducks are going to step up in a big way here. I am still not sold on this Ohio State offense running up the score against elite defenses, and Oregon is going to find a lot more success than Iowa did last week. Back Oregon against the spread. 

Iowa’s offense was awful in the last game against Ohio State, scoring only seven points, and that came in stoppage time. Their defense however is going to be better here and Washington is going to really struggle to get the offense going here. Back the under to cash here.

This is a longer odds parlay and should be bet smaller, but there is still value. The Buffalo Bulls are going to find success in this game against the Toledo Rockets and win this game outright. Toledo hasn’t been perfect this season, and they lost earlier in the season to Western Kentucky. Buffalo was blown out in the last game against UConn, but this is an overreaction to that. Buffalo is going to have a strong game on the ground, and the Bulls will win this game outright. 

This is a perfect letdown spot for the Golden Gophers. Minnesota just had the huge win over USC, and now they have to go out West and play on the road. Fleck is going to continue to play to win instead of trying to make a statement, and it’s going to hurt them again. UCLA is going to come out on top here.

Toledo Rockets Betting Preview

Toledo opened up their 2024 season with a trio of solid wins. The Rockets dispatched Duquesne 49-10, then beat UMass 38-23. Game three was a 41-17 win over Mississippi State. Toledo’s first loss came September 21 versus Western Kentucky 26-21.

Last weekend versus Miami-OH, Toledo took a 20-6 edge into the second half and held on for the win 30-20. Tucker Gleason finished with 318 pass yards, two TDs, and two picks. Jerjuan Newton caught eight balls for 127 yards and a  TD.

Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview

Over on the Buffalo side, they won three of their first four games. The lone blemish was a 38-0 blowout versus Missouri. Otherwise, the Bulls beat Lafayette 30-13, UMass 34-3 and Northern Illinois 23-20 (OT) to kick things off at 3-1.

Back on September 28 versus UConn, Buffalo took a blowout defeat. The Bulls gave up double-digit points in each quarter during a 47-3 result. Quarterback CJ Ogbonna threw for just 82 yards and led the rush as well with 14 carries for 38 yards.

I’ll just stay with Toledo. The Rockets had a bit of trouble in spots versus a struggling Miami-OH team last weekend but everything worked out. Toledo finished with 396 total yards (318 passing) and 25 first downs but went just 5-of-14 on third-down tries and had six penalties. There’s plenty to fix in practice this week.

As for Buffalo, they’ve had some extra time to recover from that blowout loss versus UConn. The Bulls posted just 198 total yards (123 passing) in that one with 12 first downs and 1-of-14 on third-down tries. The defense gave up a whopping 537 yards (280 passing) on the other side. This should be a significantly easier matchup, but I don’t think the Bulls will quite cover.

Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview

The Bulls had a pretty easy opener this year, dispatching Lafayette 30-13 on August 29. Buffalo was drilled by a great Missouri team in their second game however, falling 38-0. In game three the Bulls were able to rebound versus UMass, posting a blowout win 34-3.

Matched up against Northern Illinois last weekend, the Bulls posted a 17-6 scoring advantage in the second half and eventually pulled off the upset win in OT 23-20. QB CJ Ogbonna threw for 107 yards and a score. Al-Jay Henderson had 56 rush yards and a TD off 11 carries.

UConn Huskies Betting Preview

Over on the Huskies’ side, they had a tricky opener matchup versus Maryland. UConn lost that one 50-7 in a blowout. Game two marked the Huskies first win 63-17, but they wouldn’t remain .500 for long with a 26-21 loss to Duke in game three.

In their game versus Florida Atlantic, the Huskies scored 31 points in the second half in order to secure a victory 48-14. Nick Evers threw for 88 yards and a score. Jayden Brown (156 yards) and Durell Robinson (156 yards; two TDs) did most of the work on the ground, though.

I’ll stay with UConn. The Huskies posted a nice 542 yards (421 rushing) against FAU in their latest win, adding 32 first downs and a 5-of-10 rate on third-down tries. UConn held the ball for a whopping 40:45, and if they can keep their running game going here the Huskies will be in great shape.

As for Buffalo, they notched a stellar victory over NIU last weekend. The offensive numbers were pretty rough, though: 184 total yards (107 passing), nine first downs and 2-of-15 on third-down tries. The Bulls should be competitive here if they can avoid the proverbial “big-win hangover” but I think they’ll come down to earth cover-wise.

Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview

The Bulls’ season kicked off with a matchup versus Lafayette. Buffalo ended up winning that one decisively by a 30-13 margin. The Bulls drew a difficult opponent in game two versus Missouri and the scoreboard reflected the disparity on a 38-0 blowout defeat.

Back on Saturday versus UMass, the Bulls were only up 10-3 at the break. Buffalo turned it on from there and bagged a 34-3 blowout win in the end. CJ Ogbonna threw for 185 yards and a TD, while Lamar Sperling had 16 carries for 86 yards and a score.

Northern Illinois Huskies Betting Preview

Over on the NIU side, their opener matchup was against Western Illinois. The Huskies scored 28 points in the second quarter alone, rolling right through a 54-15 blowout win. QB Ethan Hampton put up 328 yards and five touchdowns, while Trayvon Rudolph caught four balls for 104 yards and a score.

Game two was against Notre Dame—and it was a thriller. NIU was down 14-13 going into the final quarter and ultimately eked out the victory 16-14. Hampton went 10-of-19 for 198 yards and a score. Antario Brown led the rush on 20 carries for 99 yards.

I’ll probably lean toward NIU—so long as they don’t suffer the proverbial “big-win hangover.” The Huskies were great on defense against Notre Dame, giving up 286 yards total (163 passing) and allowing only 3-of-10 on third-down conversions. The extra week of rest and practice should help immensely also.

As for the Bulls, last weekend they started pretty slow versus UMass but everything worked out well in the end. The offensive numbers were pretty modest though: 314 total yards (185 passing) and 15 first downs. Buffalo likely won’t be able to move the ball so easily this weekend.

Buffalo Picked up Win in First Game

Many thought Buffalo was going to have issues with the first game against the Lafayette Leopards, but they dominated the game. Buffalo was up 13-0 at the end of the first quarter and they never looked back on the way to the victory. Under center for Buffalo was CJ Ogbonna and he completed 14 of his 24 passes for 195 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. 

Jacquez Barkside ran wild and he finished with 14 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown. Al-Jay Henderson also played well and he finished with 37 yards for a touchdown. Wide receiver Nik McMillan caught five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. In this game, the defense is going to need to play even better than they did in the first game. Buffalo will play against UMass following this game.

Missouri Dominated First Game

Missouri in the first game faced off against Murray State and they were able to secure a 51-0 victory. Missouri’s offense will get the headlines, but the defense really should be talked about more too. They allowed only 27 yards through the air and the top rusher for the Racers only had 25 yards. 

Under center for Missouri is Brady Cook and he completed 19 of his 30 passes for 218 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. There were six different players that finished with at least 10 yards. Nate Noel finished the game with 48 yards and a touchdown. They also spread the ball around and there were ten different players that finished with at least 17 yards receiving. 

Missouri vs Buffalo Prediction

Buffalo might be better than most expected but I still don’t see them putting up much of a fight here. Missouri’s defense dominated in the first game and it’s going to be much of the same here against the Bulls defense. This Missouri offense has all kinds of playmakers and they are going to sling the ball all around here. This game is going to get out of control early, and Missouri is going to run away here. The Ohio Bobcats come into this one looking to build on a four-game win streak after a 66-59 win over Bowling Green last time out. Jaylin Hunter leads the Bobcats in scoring and assists with 14.5 PPG and 5 APG along with 4.4 RPG while Shereef Mitchell has 12.8 PPG with 4.2 RPG as well on the year. AJ Clayton has 12.1 PPG along with a team-high 4.5 RPG to lead the Bobcats on the glass while rounding out the trio of double-digit scorers for Ohio up to this point in the year. As a team, Ohio is averaging 77.8 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 35.8% from three and 73.2% from the foul line this season.
