Louisville Can’t Slip Up

Louisville has had a solid season, but this really isn’t a game that they can slip up in. Two games ago against Miami, Louisville was able to secure the 88-78 victory and in the last game against NC State, they were able to pick up the win 91-66 victory. In the second half of the last game, they scored 50 points and that was enough for the 11-point victory. Terrence Edwards Jr put up 21 points, five assists, and four rebounds. There were four different players that put up at least 15 points. 

Louisville sits with a 19-6 record overall and they have gone 15-10 against the spread. Away from home this season they have gone 7-2 straight up. Louisville is averaging 79.7 points while their defense is giving up 69.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 54th in the league while the defense is ranked 99th. In this game, Louisville is going to need the offense to run up the score here, to really try to put the pressure on. This offense has a ton of confidence right now.

Can Notre Dame Pull off a Shocker?

Notre Dame has been nothing but a disappointment, but a win here would be quite impressive. Notre Dame has struggled overall this season, but they were able to pick up a victory in the last game. Notre Dame faced off against Boston College and the offense was impressive scoring 97 points, and that was enough for the victory. It took double overtime, but it was enough for the win. Guard Markus Burton had a strong game putting up 32 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview

The Irish have had a handful of good runs so far this year, and also a handful of rough stretches. The result has been a .500 record on the season during a pretty erratic campaign. Notre Dame beat Stonehill, Buffalo, Georgetown and North Dakota out of the gate, then fell to Elon, Rutgers, Houston, Creighton and Georgia in the next five outings. Three wins over Syracuse, Dartmouth and Le Moyne came next, then four losses in succession versus Georgia Tech, North Carolina, NC State and Duke. The last four games have been a 3-1 stretch for the Fighting Irish. The lone loss came versus Syracuse. Otherwise it was wins over Boston College, Virginia and Georgia Tech, giving Notre Dame a 10-10 overall record through 20 games so far.

In the Georgia Tech matchup on Tuesday, the Irish came out of the gate with a 37-37 tie by halftime. Notre Dame hit a 34-31 advantage the rest of the way, powering out a 71-68 victory in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Markus Burton with 26 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals. Braeden Shrewsberry added 15 points in 35 minutes as the only other team player in double-figures. Tops off the bench was Nikita Kostantynovskyi with six points.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

Over on the Miami side, they opened up the season on a very brief promising run. Since November 17 however, the Hurricanes have recorded just one win. The first three games were all wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, Binghamton and Coppin State. A losing streak came next versus Drake, Oklahoma State, VCU, Charleston Southern, Arkansas, Clemson and Tennessee. Miami’s most recent victory came on December 15 versus Presbyterian, and since then it’s been another string of losses. Those have come versus Mount St. Mary’s, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Wake Forest, Duke, SMU, Stanford, Cal and Virginia in succession, giving Miami a rough 4-17 overall record though the first 21 outings of the season.

Matched up against Virginia in their Wednesday game, the Hurricanes were blasted 40-29 in the first half. Miami managed to keep the pace from there on a 42-42 run, but eventually fell by double-digits 82-71. Matthew Cleveland did the lion’s share of the scoring in the loss iwht 27 points, four rebounds and two assists. Brandon Johnson was the only other team player to reach double-figures with 13 points, seven boards, two assists and two steals. Lynn Kidd was tops off the bench with seven points, three rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes of work.

I’ll stay with Notre Dame. The Irish had a little trouble getting past a middling Georgia Tech squad in their last game, but everything worked out well in the end. Notre Dame shot 47.2 percent from the field in that one with a 32-29 rebounding advantage but did have 10 turnovers for 11 Yellow Jackets points. Notre Dame has scored 69 or more points in five straight games and 71 or more in three of the last four (all three were wins).

As for Miami, they shot well in their latest loss to Virginia (51 percent) but also gave up a lot on the other side (54.9 percent). The 27-24 rebounding deficit and 11 turnovers for 18 Cavaliers points didn’t help matters, either. Miami is giving up a truckload of points to all opponents this season: they’ve surrendered 75 or more points in 12 straight games (a 1-11 run). Notre Dame shouldn’t have too many issues posting a hefty total here, even on the road.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview

The Yellow Jackets have had a few good runs so far this year, but they’ve been offset by some periods of rough play. Georgia Tech is still mired below .500 on the year thanks to a recent slide. The Jackets started out with a 4-3 run with wins over West Georgia, Texas Southern, Charleston Southern, and Central Arkansas mixed among losses to North Florida, Georgia, and Cincinnati. A 1-4 stretch came next with a lone win over UMBC among losses to Oklahoma, North Carolina, Northwestern, and Duke, then a three-game win streak over Alabama A&M, Notre Dame, and Boston College. The Yellow Jackets began their slide on January 7 versus Syracuse, then fell to SMU, Clemson, and Florida State in the next trio. After a win over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech had a 9-11 overall record through the first 20 games of the year.

In the Wednesday game versus Virginia Tech, the Jackets came out of halftime with a 39-35 edge. Georgia Tech hit a 32-29 run the rest of the way, resulting in a much-needed win 71-64 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Duncan Powell with 23 points, six boards, and two steals. Javian McCollum added 16 points with four assists and three rebounds, while Baye Ndongo put up 14 points with five steals, nine rebounds, and four assists. Ryan Mutombo added all of the team’s bench points (two) with one block and one assist as well.

Notre Dame vs Georgia Tech Prediction

I’m going to stay with Notre Dame. This should be a pretty interesting matchup though. The Fighting Irish didn’t have a ton of issues against a middling Virginia team in their last outing, shooting a slid 48.2 percent from the field with 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from 3-point range and a 39-27 rebounding edge. Notre Dame held the Cavs to just 40.4 percent shooting on the other side as well. That makes 69 or more points in four straight games (a 2-2 run) for the Irish.

The last time these teams met up was back on New Year’s Eve in an 86-75 home win for Georgia Tech. The Jackets shot a nice 56.6 percent from the field in that one with a 30-29 rebounding advantage in a solid all-round effort. Notre Dame didn’t play too badly overall in that one but had a very slow first half (a 43-24 deficit). I like the Irish to notch a better start here and power one out for some revenge. Should be a fun one to watch.

Tae Davis had a strong game putting up 26 points, two assists, and one rebound.

How Does Syracuse Bounce Back?

Syracuse in the last game faced off against Louisville, and they scored only 61 points while the defense gave up 85 points and that led to the defeat. At halftime they were down 43-27 and in the second half it didn’t get any better. Chris Bell had a strong game putting up 18 points. Eddie Lampkin Jr put up 11 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. There are three different players that are averaging at least 10 points. 

Syracuse sits with an 8-9 record and they have gone 6-10-1 against the spread so far this season. Syracuse is averaging 75 points while their defense is giving up 78.1 points per game. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 14-1 this year after they defeated Penn State by a score of 27-24 in their last game. Notre Dame trailed 10-0 in the second quarter and 24-17 in the fourth, but they scored the last 10 points in the game for the win. The Fighting Irish out gained Penn State by a total of 384-339, lost the turnover battle 2-1, and went 11-17 on third down in the game. Riley Leonard threw for 223 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while Jaden Greathouse caught seven passes for 105 yards and one touchdown in the win. 

Prior to that win, the Fighting Irish defeated Georgia by a score of 23-10 and Indiana by a score of 27-17. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Preview

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 13-2 (7-2) this season after they defeated Texas by a score of 28-14 in their last game. Ohio State led 14-7 at halftime, but they led 21-14 with about three minutes left and Texas on the one yard line, before forcing a fumble and returning it for a touchdown to seal the game. The Buckeyes out gained Texas by a total of 370-341, won the turnover battle 2-1, and went 3-10 on third down in the game. As weird as it is to say, that loss to Michigan might have been the best thing to happen to Ohio State, as they have been nearly perfect since that game. The OSU offense has scored 37.4 points per game with 265.1 passing yards and 163.2 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 12.2 points against per game this season. Will Howard has completed 3,779 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while Jeremiah Smith has caught 71 passes for 1,227 yards and 14 scores this year.

Ohio State comes into this matchup as a pretty big favorite for a National Championship game, but they have looked very good over their last three games. The Buckeyes held a high-powered Texas offense to just 14 points in their last game and their offense is playing their best ball of the season. Notre Dame struggled to get by Penn State, a team that Ohio State also defeated, but they also have a great defense. The Fighting Irish will need Leonard to make some plays through the air in order to keep this game close, but I do think Notre Dame can copy the defensive game plan from Texas last week and find success. Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

Eagles got the year started on a nice run, but they’ve had a few difficulties since late November. Boston College opened on a 6-1 stretch, losing to only VCU in that time with wins otherwise versus the Citadel, Temple, Loyola Maryland, Old Dominion, Missouri State, and Boise State. A 1-4 run of games came next, featuring a lone win over Stonehill on December 15. Otherwise, Boston College took losses to Dartmouth, South Carolina, Wake Forest, and SMU during that time. The Eagles would recover with a couple of consecutive wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Miami before a loss to Georgia Tech dropped them to 9-6 overall on the season through the first 15 games.

On Saturday versus Syracuse, the Eagles stayed steady in the first half but faded after that. Boston College went into the locker room with a 32-32 tie, then gave up 47 more points in a 79-71 loss in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the defeat was Donald Hand with 20 points and nine rebounds. Both Chad Venning and Joshua Beadle added 17 points apiece, combining for six assists and eight rebounds. The only bench scoring came from Roger McFarlane (four rebounds) and Chas Kelley, who each contributed three points in the loss.

Over on the Notre Dame side, their year opened with a similar run of victories and they’ve likewise struggled since late November. The Irish took out Stonehill, Buffalo, Georgetown, and North Dakota in their first four games. The next five were all losses though, as Notre Dame dropped to Elon, Rutgers, Houston, Creighton, and Georgia in that time. Three straight wins ensued over Syracuse, Dartmouth, and Le Moyne. Notre Dame would fall in the next trio to Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and NC State, however, leaving them at 7-8 overall this year.

In their matchup with Duke over the weekend, the Fighting Irish trailed 44-36 at the break. Notre Dame kept the pace from there on a 42-42 run but eventually lost 86-76 by the end of the game. Tops in scoring was Markus Burton, who posted 23 points, five boards, two assists, and four turnovers during the losing effort. Braeden Shrewsberry added 14 points with three rebounds and four assists, while Tae Davis had 11 points with four boards and two assists. Coming off the bench for 11 points and two rebounds was Sir Mohammed in 15 minutes.

Notre Dame vs Boston College Prediction

I’ll stick with Notre Dame, but you could make a case either way. It’ll be an interesting matchup, to say the least. The Irish played pretty well against a great Duke team on Saturday, all things considered. Notre Dame shot 47.4 percent from the field in that one with a nice 58.3 percent (10-of-16) from outside and just seven turnovers. The two big discrepancies were in rebounding (a 34-21 deficit) and foul shooting (10-of-16 for 62.5 percent), which certainly didn’t help their cause. That said, Notre Dame isn’t scoring too badly these days, even with the four-game losing streak. They’ve hit 73 or more points in three of those outings, and another 70-plus points outing here would put the Irish in a good position.

As for Boston College, they were careful with the ball (six turnovers) and solid on the boards (36 rebounds) in their loss to Syracuse, but also shot just 4-of-16 (25 percent) from 3-point range and 65 percent from the line. The Eagles have 71 or more points in five of the last six games themselves, so Notre Dame is going to have to push on offense in order to keep the cover pace here.

Duke Looks to Lean on the Defense

All the talk heading into this game has been about the defense and how they think their defense can lead them to the success. Duke just keeps racking up wins, and in the last game against the Pitt Panthers the defense dominated. They gave up only 47 points while the offense scored 76 points on the way to the easy victory. The defense was good, but the offense was even better, shooting 50 percent from the field and 51 percent from behind the three-point line. Cooper Flagg had another strong game putting up 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Each of the five starters finished with at least 10 points. 

Duke is averaging 80 points per game, while their defense is giving up 58.4 points per game. The offense is ranked 74th in the league while the defense is ranked 5th, They are averaging 16.8 assists per game which is 46th in the league. Cooper Flagg is averaging 17.5 points while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from behind the three-point line. There were three different players who averaged at least 11 points per game. 

Can Notre Dame Shock the World?

Notre Dame is going through a rebuild and they have really struggled for most of the season. Notre Dame is struggling and they have lost three games in a row. In te haslt game against NC State they were competitive, but they but they scored only 65 points and that led to the defeat. Markus Burton put up 15 points and four assists. Tae Davis also put up 14 poins, seven rebounds, and six assists. Two games ago against North Carolina they were also competitive, but they ended up losing 74-73. 

Notre Dame, on the season, is averaging 74.9 points while the defense is giving up 70.5 points per game. The offense is ranked 197th while the defense is ranked 157th. In this game if they want any chance they are going to need the offense to step up. If the offense struggles, this is probably going to be a very long game. Forward Tae Davis is averaging 16.5 points while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the three point line.

I’m on the under in this one. I just envision this being a game that’s fought and won in the trenches. Notre Dame didn’t do a whole lot defensively but benefitted from a banged up Georgia offense last time out. I do think Penn State will be better and more competitive, but not by much. On the flipside, Penn State’s defense negated a really solid ground attack led by the best running back in the country in Ashton Jeanty, and I don’t see Notre Dame moving the ball easily on the ground here. Forward Tae Davis had a strong game putting up 27 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. 

Notre Dame overall has a 7-6 record and they have gone 5-6-2 against the spread. At home this season straight up though they were 6-1. Notre Dame is averaging 75.8 points while their defense is giving up 70.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 182nd in the league while the defense is ranked 164th. Forward Tae Davis has been the top player averaging 16.6 points while shooting 47.7 percent from the field. Guard Markus Burton is dealing with a knee injury and is out. Not having him is a huge loss. 

North Carolina Can’t Slip Up

North Carolina has not had a great season and this isn’t a game that they can slip up in. The Tar Heels sit with an 8-6 record and they have gone 5-9 against the spread. In the last game against Louisville, UNC scored only 70 points, but the defense gave up 83 points and that led to the defeat. The defense gave up 46 points in the second half and that led to the defeat. Guard Ian Jackson had a huge game putting up 23 points, four rebounds, and one assist. The Tar Heels shot 40 percent from the field and 25 percent from behind the three-point line. 

North Carolina on the season is averaging 85.4 points while their defense is giving up 79.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 20th in the league while the defense is ranked 337th. They are averaging 63.1 shot attempts per game and they like to push the pace. Seth Trimble is dealing with an upper-body injury and he’s questionable for this game. RJ Davis has been the top player for this team averaging 18.4 points while shooting 37.4 percent from the field. There were four different players that put up at least 10.7 points per game. 

Why North Carolina Will Beat Notre Dame

• North Carolina has won each of its last 11 day games against Conference opponents.

In the Le Moyne matchup last Sunday, the Irish came out of the gate with a dominant 49-30 edge in the first. Notre Dame closed on a 42-32 second half for a 91-62 blowout victory. Tae Davis led the team with 24 points and six rebounds in the win. Braeden Shrewsberry added 14 points with two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Coming off the bench for a double-figure effort was Logan Imes, who notched 11 points, four assists, one rebound, and two steals in the sizable victory.

This year Shrewsberry is averaging 16.5 points per game with 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 12 appearances. Davis is in double-figures as well with 15.8 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and 1.6 assists per game. Matt Allocco isn’t too far off the double-digit pace with his 9.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Preview

Over on the Georgia Tech side, they went just 2-3 in their first five games. The victories in that time were over West Georgia and Texas Southern alongside losses to North Florida, Georgia, and Cincinnati. Next came wins over Charleston Southern and Central Arkansas. The Yellow Jackets would fall to Oklahoma, North Carolina, Northwestern, and Duke over the next five.

On Saturday versus Alabama A&M, the Jackets didn’t have any issues. After a 50-25 lead in the second half, Georgia Tech hit a 42-24 run the rest of the way for a 92-49 victory. Leading the charge was Lance Terry with 22 points, three rebounds and two assists. Javian McCollum came off the bench for 18 points and two assists as well, and Jaeden Mustaf added 13 points with seven boards and six assists.

Terry is tops on the team so far this year, averaging 15.4 points per game alongside 2.8 rebounds. Baye Ndongo is second with 12.8 points and 7.1 rebounds (a team-high) per game so far, and McCollum isn’t far off the pace with 10.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.

Georgia Tech vs Notre Dame Prediction

I’ll probably just stay with the Irish. Notre Dame rolled right past a struggling Le Moyne team in their last game, shooting 48.3 percent from the field with a 45-27 rebounding advantage. The Irish have looked pretty good defensively over the last three games, holding opponents to fewer than 66 points in each of those outings. Norte Dame has given up some pretty big totals overall to good scoring teams this year, but Georgia Tech probably doesn’t fall into that category (despite the 92 points versus Alabama A&M and the 91 against UMBC).

Speaking of Georgia Tech, on Saturday they shot a smooth 54.1 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from outside against a struggling Bulldogs team. The Jackets rebounded well also (47) and had 27 team assists. The 19 turnovers (for 13 Alabama A&M points) were a cause for concern, though. Minus the UMBC and Alabama A&M games (both wins), Georgia Tech has posted 65 or fewer points in four losses since December began. Granted, they’ve played some tougher teams in that time. That said, I still like the Irish here.

Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Georgia Bulldogs are 11-2 (6-2) this year after they defeated Texas in overtime by a score of 22-19 in their last game. Georgia trailed 6-3 at halftime and lost their starting quarterback right before the half, but they were able to get the overtime win. The Bulldogs were out gained by a total of 389-277, won the turnover battle 3-2, and went 5-15 on third down in the game. Gunner Stockton threw for 71 yards and one interception, while Trevor Etienne rushed for 94 yards and two scores. 

Georgia also has wins against Clemson, Tennessee Tech, Kentucky, Auburn, Mississippi State, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, UMass, and Georgia Tech, while losing to Ole Miss and Alabama. The Georgia offense has scored 34.4 points per game with 284.6 passing yards and 129.2 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 20.4 points against per game this season. Carson Beck is injured, so Gunner Stockton will be the starting quarterback. 

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Preview

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 12-1 this season after they defeated Indiana by a score of 27-17 in their last game. Notre Dame led 27-3 in the fourth quarter, but they did allow 14 late points in the win. The Fighting Irish out gained Indiana by a total of 394-278, tied the turnover battle at one, and went 7-13 on third down in the game. Riley Leonard threw for 201 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Jeremiyah Love rushed for 108 yards and one score. 

Notre Dame also has wins over Texas A&M, Purdue, Miami (OH), Louisville, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Navy, Florida State, Virginia, Army, and USC, while picking up one loss against Northern Illinois. The ND offense has scored 39.8 points per game with 196.8 passing yards and 222.4 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 13.8 points agains per game this season. Riley Leonard has completed 66.8% of his passes for 2,293 yards, 17 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while Jeremiyah Love has rushed for 1,057 yards and 16 scores. 

Georgia vs Notre Dame Prediction 

Notre Dame comes into this matchup on a lengthy winning streak and they have been very impressive over the last few months. Georgia is coming off of an overtime victory in the SEC Title game, but they will be without their starting quarterback here. The Bulldogs have a very solid defense, but I am worried about their offense in this game. Notre Dame’s defense is very good and I think Stockton is going to struggle to consistently put drives together. Take the Fighting Irish to get the win.

Notre Dame Believes This is the Year

Notre Dame isn’t getting talked about a lot, but they have been impressive all season. Outside of the shocking loss against Northern Illinois, they have picked up 11 wins. In the last game against USC, the defense wasn’t great giving up 35 points, but the offense was elite scoring 49 points. Jadarian Price ran wild finishing with 12 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown. Riley Leonard also had a solid game completing 17 of his 22 passes for 155 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Jeremiyah Love also appears to be healthy and that is a big key for this game. Notre Dame is averaging 39.8 points while their defense is giving up 13.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 3rd in the league while the defense is ranked 3rd. In this game, Notre Dame is going to need to get the offense going here.

Should Indiana be in the Playoff?

That is the big talking point with the argument that they don’t have any real key wins this season. In the last game against Purdue, Notre Dame scored 66 points and they ended up cruising to the victory with the defense giving up zero goals. Kurtis Rourke completed 23 of his 31 passes for 349 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Justice Ellison finished with 11 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown. Two games ago, Indiana was awful against Ohio State, and they ended up losing 38-15. Indiana on the season is averaging 43.3 points while their defense is giving up 14.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 2nd while the defense is ranked 6th. 

Notre Dame vs Indiana Prediction 

I know Indiana might not have the big signature win, but they are going to find a way to keep this game competitive. Notre Dame’s offense has been good, but in the last game, the defense gave up 35 points. Indiana on the season is averaging 43.3 points and they are going to have no issue running up the score here. They might not win, but this game will be decided by a field goal or less. Back Indiana against the spread.

Also, the Dartmouth Big Green can push the pace offensively, which makes them dangerous in the underdog role. We’ve seen Dartmouth beat Boston College as a double-digit dog and nearly beat UIC as a double-digit dog. Dartmouth has covered 3 straight games. Give me the points with the Big Green.
