Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

The Philadelphia Eagles were 14-3 during the regular season and they are coming off of a 55-23 win over Washington in their last game. Philadelphia led 27-15 at halftime and they added 28 more points in the second half in the blowout win. The Eagles out gained Washington by a total of 459-350, won the turnover battle 4-0, and went 5-10 on third down in the game. Jalen Hurts threw for 246 yards and one touchdown, while Saquon Barkley rushed for 118 yards and three scores in the win. 

Prior to that game, the Eagles defeated the Rams by a score of 28-22 and the Packers by a score of 22-10 in their first two playoff games. Philadelphia has won 15 of their last 16 games, with the only loss in that span against Washington by a score of 36-33. The Philadelphia offense has scored 27.2 points per game with 187.9 passing yards and 179.3 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 17.8 points against per game this season. Jalen Hurts has completed 69.6% of his passes for 505 yards and three touchdowns, while Saquon Barkley has rushed for 442 yards and five scores in this postseason. 

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs went 15-2 in the regular season and they are coming off of a 32-29 win over Buffalo in their last game. Kansas City led 21-16 at halftime, but they trailed 22-21 in the third quarter and they were tied at 29 in the fourth, before kicking a late field goal and forcing a stop on defense for the win. The Chiefs were out gained by a total of 374-368, lost the turnover battle 1-0, and went 5-9 on third down in the game. Patrick Mahomes threw for 245 yards and one touchdown, while Xavier Worthy caught six passes for 85 yards and one score in the game. 

Prior to that win, the Chiefs defeated Houston by a score of 23-14 in their first playoff game, despite being out gained 336-212. Kansas City has won eight of their last nine games, with their lone loss coming against the Broncos in the last game of the regular season, where they were resting starters. The Kansas City offense has scored 22.6 points per game with 222.4 passing yards and 105.3 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 19.2 points against per game this season. Kansas City comes into this matchup looking to win their third straight Super Bowl, while Philadelphia is looking for revenge on their 38-35 loss in Super Bowl LVII in 2023. The Chiefs haven’t looked overly impressive this season, but they continue to find ways to win games and with Mahomes under center, they are never out of a game. Philadelphia looked dominant in their win over Washington in their last game, but they are heavily dependent on Barkley and the ground game. I know Hurts looked very sharp in that win against Washington, but I am curious to see how the passing attack looks against this Kansas City defense. This should be a great game between two very good teams and while it may seem crazy to go against Kansas City, that is exactly what I am going to do. I think the Philadelphia ground game is going to control the pace of this game and the Eagles defense will be able to generate stops. It is always a concern going against Kansas City and their ability to win the penalty yardage battle, but I am backing Barkley and the Eagles ground game here.

The Chiefs were out gained by a total of 336-212, tied the turnover battle at zero, and went 4-11 on third down in the game, but they did get a few favorable calls in the victory. Patrick Mahomes threw for 177 yards and one touchdown, while Travis Kelce caught seven passes for 117 yards and one score in the game. 

Prior to that win, the Chiefs lost to the Broncos by a score of 38-0, but did beat the Steelers by a score of 29-10 before that. Kansas City has won seven of their last eight games and they won the AFC West by four games over the Chargers. The Kansas City offense has scored 22.6 points per game with 222.4 passing yards and 105.3 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 19.2 points against per game this year. Patrick Mahomes completed 67.5% of his passes for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while Travis Kelce caught 97 passes for 823 yards and three scores in the regular season. 

Buffalo Bills Betting Preview

The Buffalo Bills were 13-4 this year and they are coming off of a 27-25 win over Baltimore in their last game. Buffalo led 21-10 at halftime, but they needed to stop a two point conversion with 1:33 left in the fourth for the win. The Bills were out gained by a total of 416-273, won the turnover battle 3-0, and went 5-11 on third down in the game. Josh Allen threw for 127 yards on 16 completions, while James Cook rushed for 67 yards on 17 carries in the game. 

Prior to that victory, the Bills defeated the Broncos by a score of 31-7 in the Wild Card round. Houston Texans Betting Preview

Houston kicked off the season on a pretty nice overall run, but their record over the last couple of months of the year did leave something to be desired. The Texans opened on a 6-2 stretch with losses to only Minnesota and Green Bay. Otherwise, it was wins over the Colts, Bears, Jaguars, Bills, Patriots and Colts again. Houston headed into the bye on a 2-3 stretch with wins over the Cowboys and Jaguars alongside losses to the Jets, Lions, and Titans. A 2-2 record would finish things off in the regular season, featuring wins over the Dolphins and Titans around losses to the Chiefs and Ravens for a 10-7 overall record this year.

The Texans took on the Chargers in their Wild Card game over the weekend. Houston fell behind early 6-0 but then stormed back with double-digit points in the final three quarters for a nice 32-12 blowout win. CJ Stroud threw for 282 yards with one TD and a pick, while Joe Mixon led the rushing attack on 25 carries for 106 yards and a score of his own. Nico Collins caught the touchdown pass among his seven receptions for 122 yards, and Xavier Hutchinson added a 34-yard grab to place second among the Texans receivers.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

Over on the Chiefs’ side, they put together yet another strong campaign this season, and they should serve as a formidable opponent as they attempt to continue their dominance. Kansas City won their first nine games, taking out Baltimore, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New Orleans, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Tampa Bay, and Denver before taking their first loss in Week 11 versus the Bills. The Chiefs would recover on another win streak, beating the Panthers, Raiders, Chargers, Browns, Texans, and Steelers before another loss to the Broncos which finished off the season at 15-2 overall in the record column.

In their (essentially meaningless) Week 18 game versus the Broncos, the Chiefs played mostly reserves for the bulk of the game—and it showed. Kansas City was down 24-0 by halftime and never scored in a 38-0 blowout defeat. QB Carson Wentz threw for just 98 yards, and Carson Steele led the rushers with his eight carries for 25 yards. Nikko Remigio was the leading Chiefs receiver on two catches for 48 yards. Peyton Hendershot added two catches as well, totaling 25 yards in the shutout defeat.

Why the Kansas City Chiefs will win

• The Chiefs have won each of their last 13 home games when playing with a rest advantage.
• The Texans have lost each of their eight previous road games against reigning Super Bowl champions.
• The Texans have failed to cover the spread in each of their last nine games when playing with a rest disadvantage.
• The Chiefs have covered the spread in each of their last six postseason games.
• The favorites have won the first half in each of the Chiefs’ last eight games.
• The Chiefs have scored the first touchdown in each of their last six games as favorites.

Why the Houston Texans will win

Chiefs vs Texans Prediction

I’m going to take a stab at the Texans. We should have a pretty great game regardless, though. Houston looked excellent (after a slow start) versus a talented Chargers team last weekend, eventually notching a nice 429 yards of offense (261 passing) with 20 first downs. On defense, the Texans held LA to 15 first downs and 261 yards (211 passing) on the other side. The 32 points were an encouraging total; Houston had been below 28 points in six straight games prior to that victory.

As for the Chiefs, we can pretty much throw out that loss to the Broncos back on January 5, as it didn’t have much of an effect on anything outside of getting Denver into the playoffs. That said, Kansas City has been below 22 points in four of the last six games now which puts some additional strain on their (admittedly capable) defense.

The last time these teams met up back on December 21 (also at Arrowhead), the Chiefs powered out a 27-19 victory. Both teams scored in every quarter, with Kansas City edging the Texans in most categories. Houston had a couple of turnovers—both picks—and gave the Chiefs three first downs via penalties. The Texans need to play a complete game on both sides and avoid making those crucial mistakes this time. That said, coming off the nice win over the Chargers I think Houston is in good shape to power out a cover here. It’ll be a fun one to watch at any rate.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

The Chiefs got off to a great 9-0 start this year, rattling off wins over the Ravens, Bengals, Falcons, Chargers, Saints, 49ers, Raiders, Bucs and Broncos. After a loss to the Bills in Week 11, KC took out Carolina and the Raiders in the next pair.

On Sunday versus the Chargers again, the Chiefs had another nail-biter finish. KC was outscored 17-6 in the second half but held on to win 19-17. QB Patrick Mahomes finished with 210 yards and one TD. Tops in rushing was Isiah Pacheco with 14 totes for 55 yards.

Cleveland Browns Betting Preview

Over on the Browns’ side, they went a rough 2-8 to start things off. The losses were to the Cowboys, Giants, Raiders, Commanders, Eagles, Bengals, Chargers and Saints. After a win over Pittsburgh, Cleveland fell to Denver in their 12th game.

Last weekend in the rematch versus Pittsburgh, the Browns were looking at a 27-7 deficit going into the final quarter and eventually lost 27-14. QB Jameis Winston logged 212 yards, two scores, and two interceptions. Jerry Jeudy added five grabs for 64 yards and a TD.

Cleveland Browns vs Kansas City Chiefs Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Chiefs here, but I’m not touching it. KC has been playing with fire lately, including their two-point win over the Chargers. The Chiefs managed 298 total yards (202 passing) and 20 first downs in that one while giving up 288 yards and 20 first downs on the other side. It was Kansas City’s sixth straight win decided by just one score. The Chiefs have been at 21 points or below in four of the last five games as well.

As for the Browns, they held Pittsburgh to just 15 first downs and 267 yards overall in their latest loss. The three turnovers and nine penalties for 81 yards really threw a wrench into Cleveland’s plans, though. The Browns have given up 27 or more points in four straight losses, so KC should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this one.

Can Chargers Make a Statement? 

The Chargers are looking to make a statement in this game that they are for real. In the last game against the Atlanta Falcons, the Chargers gave up only 13 points and they ended up winning by four points. They picked off Kirk Cousins four times and even though they won, it has to be a bit disappointing that the offense scored the 13 points. Justin Herbert completed 16 of his 23 passes for 147 yards. Ladd McConkey is having a strong season and he finished with nine catches for 117 yards. The Chargers on the season are averaging 21.7 points while their defense is giving up 15.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 18th in the league while the defense is ranked 1st. 

Kansas City Chiefs Keep Pulling It Out

At times the Chiefs haven’t looked dominant but they just somehow keep winning games. In the last game against the Las Vegas Raiders, it wasn’t the prettiest game but they once again pulled it out 19-17. The Raiders were almost into a field goal with a chance to win the game when they fumbled the snap and the Chiefs recovered. Patrick Mahomes completed 26 of his 46 passes for 306 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions.

Isiah Pacheco is back, and he finished with seven carries for 44 yards. The Chiefs are averaging 24.1 points per game, while their defense is giving up 19.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 11th in the league, while the defense is ranked 8th. In this game, they are going to need the offense to be good against a very good defense. 

Why the Chiefs Will Win Against the Chargers 

• The Chiefs have won each of their last 12 games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium when playing with a rest advantage.

This game is going to be lower-scoring. The Chargers know how to make a game ugly and that’s exactly what they are going to do here. The Chargers are giving up only 15.7 points per game, and they are going to step up in a big way again here. The Chargers offense is also going to really struggle to get the offense going here, and that is going to be the difference here as this game is going to end up staying under the total.
