NY Yankees Betting Preview

The New York Yankees were able to fight off elimination in game four on Tuesday night with an 11-4 win. New York allowed two runs in the first inning, but they scored one in the second and got a grand slam from Volpe in the third. The Dodgers did cut the deficit to 5-4 in the fifth inning, but the Yankees scored the last six runs in the game for the win. New York’s offense didn’t produce much in the first three games of the series, so we will see if this momentum carries over into game five. Prior to this series, the Yankees defeated the Guardians in five games and the Royals in four games. 

The New York pitching staff had a 3.74 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a .233 opponent batting average in the regular season. The Yankees offense scored 815 runs with a .248 batting average and a .333 on base percentage this year. Aaron Judge hit .322 with 58 home runs and 144 RBI’s for the Yankees this season.

LA Dodgers Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers had a chance to win the World Series on Tuesday night and they had a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Yankees finally woke up and forced a game five. Los Angeles has won games one, two, and three by scores of 6-3, 4-2, and 4-2, and they will look to close out the series once again here. The Dodgers were fortunate to win game one of this series after losing two separate times late in the game, but their pitching was outstanding in the first three games. Prior to this series, the Dodgers defeated the Mets in six games and the Padres in five games, despite facing elimination two times against San Diego.

I think the game four win is going to spark this New York team here and I like them to get to Flaherty early, who is already battling a slight hamstring issue. We saw Cole pitch very well in game one and I like him to lead the Yankees to a game five win here.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview

The Dodgers got off to a great start in this series, though they initially struggled in the opener. It took a 10th-inning grand slam from Freddie Freeman to win Game 1 6-3, then came a pretty smooth 4-2 victory on Saturday. In Game 3 Los Angeles scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning and powered out another victory 4-2. Starter Walker Buehler finished with 5.0 clean frames and five Ks.

For the starter gig in Game 4, the Dodgers didn’t immediately announce a name.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the Yankees’ side, they had game one in the bag with a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 10th inning but blew the highly important road victory. Game 2 featured three runs surrendered in the third innings and just four team hits overall. On Monday New York had a pretty rough effort from starter Clarke Schmidt with 2.2 innings, three earned, two hits, and four walks. The offense only came up with five hits in a similar rough effort.

It’ll be Luis Gil in the starter slot for the Yankees on Tuesday. This year Gil went 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA in 29 starts. Gil has just 4.0 innings and a 4.50 ERA in one postseason appearance so far this year—the only playoff game of his career.

NY Yankees vs LA Dodgers Prediction

I might lean toward trying the Dodgers again in this one. Gil hasn’t pitched since Game 4 of the ALCS versus Cleveland back on October 18. In that game, Gil posted 4.0 innings with two earned runs, three hits, three walks, and three Ks in an eventual 8-6 victory. Given how Los Angeles’ hitters jumped all over a rusty pitcher (Nestor Cortes) in Game 1, I’m not thrilled about Gil’s chances here.

On Monday, Los Angeles had a little bit of offense in the right places (with another homer from Freeman) in their five-hit victory. The pitching staff did the rest, and outside of a couple earned runs in the ninth, it was nearly flawless. Now the Dodgers are on the edge of a sweep, something which seemed like a pipe dream before the series began. With the way they’ve been playing, however, I think LA has a great chance at closing this thing out on Tuesday.

Star-Juan Soto, Outfielder, New York Yankees $8,500

In the last eight games that outfielder Juan Soto has played for the New York Yankees this season, Juan Soto accumulated 11 hits (four home runs), eight runs scored, eight RBIs (runs batted in) and six walks in 36 plate appearances. It has to be said, those are the type of DFS numbers I need to see from a player that I select at the star position for a FanDuel MLB single game contest.

Must Win for the Yankees

This isn’t an elimination game, but if the Yankees lose this game, their season is all but over. The Yankees lost the first game, and in the last game they had the bases loaded in the 9th inning, but they still couldn’t make the plays and ended up losing 4-2. Carlos Rodon really struggled early, going 3.1 innings, giving up six hits and four runs. Even though he struggled, the bullpen did find success, and that bullpen is going to need to be good again here. Juan Soto has had a strong playoffs, and he hit a home run and drove in an RBI also. 

Getting the start for the Yankees will be Clarke Schmidt, who has gone 0-0 and sits with an ERA of 3.86. In his last appearance against the Cleveland Guardians, he went 4.2 innings, giving up five hits and two runs. 

Dodgers in Firm Control

The Dodgers know they are in firm control of the World Series, but a loss here lets the Yankees right back into the series. In the first game the Dodgers were able to secure the 6-3 victory and in the last game they were able to secure the 4-2 victory. Yoshinbou Yamomoto started and went 6.1 innings, giving up one hit and one run. Teoscar Hernandez hit a home run and drove in two RBIs. Shohei Ohtani was injured in Game 2, but he’s healthy and is going to be able to go in this game. His injury was a big scare, but it appears they dodged a bullet with the injury. 

Getting the start for the Dodgers will be Walker Buehler, who sits with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 6.00. In his last start against the New York Mets, he went four innings, giving up three hits and zero runs. 

Why the Dodgers Will Beat the Mets

• The Dodgers have won each of their last nine Monday night road games.
• The Yankees have lost three of their last four games as favorites against National League opponents.
• The Dodgers have covered the run line in each of their last seven playoff games after not playing the previous day.
• The Yankees have failed to cover the run line in six of their last seven night playoff games after not playing the previous day.

NY Yankees vs LA Dodgers Prediction

Give me the Dodgers here. The Yankees return home, but there is no confidence in them, and they are going to really struggle here. Walker Buehler sure looked good in the last game against the Mets, and the Yankees’ bats are going to really struggle to get the offense going here. The Dodgers might not run up the score, but they are going to only need three or four runs here, and they will get that. Back the Dodgers on the money line.

LA Dodgers Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers were able to escape with a 6-3 win in extra innings in game one of this series to take a 1-0 lead. LA took a 1-0 lead in the fifth, but they needed a sac fly in the eighth to force extra innings before Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam. Los Angeles was able to scatter 10 hits by the Yankees and they used six pitchers in the big win. Prior to this series, the Dodgers defeated the Mets in six games in the NLCS and defeated the Padres in five games in the NLDS.

The Dodgers’ offense scored 842 runs with a .258 batting average and a .335 on-base percentage during the regular season. Shohei Ohtani hit .310 with 54 home runs and 130 RBIs for the Dodgers this season. 

NY Yankees Betting Preview

The New York Yankees had plenty of chances to pick up the win in game one on Friday night, but they ended up losing and now trail 1-0 in the series. New York took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, but they allowed the Dodgers to tie the game in the eighth. The Yankees answered with one run in the top of the tenth inning, but they ran into trouble in the bottom half of the inning.
