They were shut out last night by the Devils. The Lightning have won three straight games and have outscored opponents 15-7 during that stretch. This is two teams heading in opposite directions. Give me the Lightning on Sunday afternoon.

I’m with Washington here. The Capitals are the better team in this game, and as much as Utah has played their best hockey on the road this season, the Capitals have shown a ton of balance and have been really good regardless of where they’ve been this season. I think Washington defends home ice and gets the job done in this game so give me the Capitals in this one.

Los Angeles Kings Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Kings do play a game late on Friday night against the Stars, which is not reflected in this article. Los Angeles is 28-17-6 this season after they defeated Montreal by a score of 6-3 in their last game. Los Angeles led 2-1 after the second period and they exploded for four goals in the third for the win. The Kings outshot Montreal by a total of 37-21, won 42.9% of the face-offs, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game. Los Angeles got goals from Fiala (2), Foegele, Moore, Clarke, and Gavrikov, while Kuemper stopped 18 out of 21 shots in the win. 

Prior to that game, the Kings defeated the Hurricanes by a score of 4-2 but did lose to the Lightning by a score of 3-0 before that. Los Angeles has lost four of their last six games and they are currently third in the Pacific standings with 62 points. Los Angeles has scored 2.84 goals per game and they have allowed 2.53 goals against per game, while also going 15.1% on the power play and 82.7% on the penalty kill this season. Anze Kopitar has led Los Angeles with 12 goals, 32 assists, and 68 shots on goal, while Adrian Kempe has added 24 goals, 20 assists, and 152 shots on goal. Darcy Kuemper is 16-6-6 with a 2.19 goals against average and a .919 save percentage this year. 

Anaheim Ducks Betting Preview

The Anaheim Ducks are 23-24-6 this season after they defeated Dallas by a score of 2-1 in their last game. Anaheim allowed Dallas to tie the game at one in the third period, but they scored a few minutes later to get the win. The Ducks outshot Dallas by a total of 28-27, won 44.3% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Anaheim got goals from Gauthier and Zegras, while Gibson stopped 26 out of 27 shots in the game.

Troy Terry has led Anaheim with 16 goals, 23 assists, and 117 shots on goal, while Ryan Strome has added seven goals, 23 assists, and 91 shots on goal. John Gibson is 9-9-2 with a 2.70 goals against average and .915 save percentage this season. 

Kings vs Ducks Prediction 

Anaheim comes into this matchup playing some of their best hockey of the season, but they will be on the road here. The Ducks are 10-12-4 on the road this season, while the Kings are 16-3-1 at home. Los Angeles has been one of the best home teams in the NHL this season, but they will be on a back-to-back in this matchup. The Ducks are scoring just 2.51 goals per game this year and will face one of the best defenses in the league. Take the under in this game.

Kraken Looks to Bounce Back

The Kraken are looking to bounce back after their last game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Kraken were down 3-0 when they scored their first and only goal in the third period. Flames Have Lost Two Straight Games

The Flames have lost two straight games, and the defense has been a major issue heading into this game. Two games ago against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Flames were defeated 6-3. In the last game against the Colorado Avalanche, the Flames gave up four goals, and they ended up losing by two goals. Rasmus Andersson scored a goal. Dustin Wolf saved 30 of the 34 shots that he faced. Rasmus Andersson scored a goal and finished with two shots on goal. 

The Flames are averaging 2.65 goals while their defense is giving up 2.98 goals per game. The offense is ranked 28th in the league while the defense is ranked 16th in the league. The Flames are at home and they are going to find success here. The Flames defense might not be elite, but they are still the much better team here. The Flames are giving up only 2.98 goals per game and they are going to step up here. The Kraken are averaging 2.95 goals per game and they are going to really struggle here. The Kraken only one scored in the last game, and they are going to struggle to get to one goal again here. Back the Flames on the money line to cash.

Stars on Tired Legs

The Stars are going to be on tired legs after their game on Friday night against the LA Kings. Two games ago on Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks, they ended up falling short. The Stars scored only one goal in that game and that led to the defeat. Colin Blackwell scored a goal but it wasn’t enough as the rest of the offense couldn’t get anything going. Jake Oettinger saved 26 of the 28 shots that he faced. 

The Stars are averaging 3.17 goals, while their defense is giving up 2.42 goals per game. The offense has ranked 10th, while the defense is ranked 3rd. The offense seems to get all the attention this year, but the defense shouldn’t be overlooked. Jason Robertson has scored 19 goals and added 31 assists. Jake Oettinger could be in goal in this game, and he has been good this season sitting with a 26-12-1 record overall, and he’s giving up 2.31 goals per game. As good as he has been, he has had one shutout this year. 

Sharks Fell Just Short

The Sharks faced off against the Vancouver Canucks in the last game, and they ended up losing 2-1. Tyler Toffoli scored a goal, but that was the only goal they scored. Vitek Vanecek was in goal and he saved 22 of the 24 shots that he faced. He played decently in the goal, but the offense really let them down by not giving any goal support. Two games ago against the Montreal Canadiens, the Sharks scored three goals, but they ended up losing by a goal, with the defense really letting them down. 

The Sharks are averaging 2.59 goals per game while their defense is giving up 3.64 goals per game. The offense is ranked 30th in the league while the defense is ranked 32nd in the league. One issue for this team is that they have a shot differential of -5.11, which is 31st in the league. They have a scoring efficiency ratio of 0.71 which is 31st in the league. In this game, if they want to find success, they need to find a way to get the offense going. 

Sharks vs Stars Prediction

Even with the tired legs, the Stars are going to have little issue getting the job done here. The Sharks offense is averaging 2.59 goals per game and they are going to really struggle to get the offense going here. The Stars offense is averaging 3.17 goals per game and they are going to get the offense out to a fast start here. The Sharks are going to have no answer here, the Stars will get the job done. It’s only going to take two or three goals to come away with a win. Back the Stars on the puck line.

Can the Wild Win a Second Straight Game?

The Wild faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday and it wasn’t the most dominant game, but they were able to secure the 2-1 victory. The Wild scored a goal in the third period, and that ended up being the game-winner. Vinnie Hinostroza and Yakor Trenin both scored a goal to pace the team. Filip Gustavsson had a strong game in goal, saving 37 of the 38 shots that he faced. Two games ago against the Boston Bruins, the Wild offense couldn’t get anything going and they ended up losing 3-0. 

The Wild on the season is averaging 2.82 goals, while their defense is giving up 2.8 goals per game. The offense is ranked 21st in the league,e while the defense is ranked 11th. Even though they won the last game, the offense still scored only two goals in total. Opponents are shooting 9.31 percent, which is 4th in the league. Islanders on Tired Legs

The Islanders will be on tired legs after their game on Friday night against the Winnipeg Jets. On Tuesday, the Islanders faced off against the Vegas Golden Knights, and they ended up winning 2-1. It wasn’t the most impressive game, with the offense, but the goaltending was good, and that led to the victory. Ilya Sorokin saved 33 of the 34 shots that he faced. In this game, the defense is going to need to be good. 

The Islanders are averaging 2.72 goals, while their defense is giving up 2.85 goals per game. The offense is ranked 26th in the league, while the defense is ranked 12th in the league. They are averaging 28.58 shots per game which is 15th in the league. On tired legs, getting out to a fast start a fast start is going to be crucial. Bo Hovart has scored 19 goals and added 21 assists so far this season. 

Wild vs Islanders Prediction

I am going to stay away from the side here; we are going to focus on the total. Overall, both of of these offenses have been inconsistent, and in this game, both of the offenses are going to need to be good here. The Wild are averaging only 2.82 goals per game and they are going to really struggle to get the offense going here. The Wild are going to get goaltending again though, and this game is going to stay under the total.

I’m on the Sabres here. Buffalo’s recent success has come at home in fairness, but at least they’re winning games which is more than we can say for the Nashville Predators who are back to being the biggest disappointment in the NHL this season. This Nashville team just can’t get out of their own way and is backpedaling into the break. Buffalo isn’t the best road team in the league but the Nashville Predators right now shouldn’t be laying any juice against anyone if we’re being honest. Give me the Sabres and the plus money on the road in this one.

The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off a nice blowout win over the Predators, but it’s still not enough for me to look in their direction. The Blackhawks are still arguably the worst team in the league, and they don’t hit enough in these underdog spots to be worth the risk. The St. Louis Blues are at home with the rest advantage, and this feels like a perfect spot to right the ship after losing six of their last seven games. The Blues have won five of the last six games against the Blackhawks, which includes a 6-2 win on New Year’s Eve. There are no excuses for the Blues in this spot. Give me the Blues and the PL for max betting value.

Columbus Blue Jackets Betting Preview

I’m on the Panthers here.
