Georgia Southern Has Confidence

Georgia Southern has a ton of confidence and they have won two games in a row. Two games ago against Coastal Carolina they secured the 26-6 victory and in the last game against Appalachian State they were able to secure the 29-20 victory. JC French had a strong game, completing 16 of his 19 passes for 166 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. Jalen Wright had a strong game rushing 18 times for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Josh Dallas had a strong game finishing with five catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. Georgia Southen is averaging 28.2 points while their defense is giving up 27.33 points per game. The offense at times has been inconsistent and they are going to need the defense to be strong again here. 

A Big Season for Sam Houston State

It has been a big season for Sam Houston State and they are coming off quite the victory in the last game. Sam Houston State comes into this game with a 9-3 record overall and they were able to overcome Liberty in the last game. Sam Houston State gave up only 18 points and they ended up winning by two points. Hunter Watson completed 19 of his 33 passes for 202 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Jay Ducker finished with 24 carries for 96 yards. Simeon Evans finished with six carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns. 

Sam Houston State on the season is averaging 23.2 points while their defense is giving up 20 points per game. In this game, Sam Houston State is going to need to get the offense out to a fast start to really put the pressure on.

This total is too high. Sam Houston State is averaging only 23.2 points per game, but their defense has been strong, and thier defense is going to step up again here. I do expect their defense is going to step up against Georgia Southern, and that is going to be the difference here. It wouldn’t shock me if neither team reached 20 points, and this game is going to stay under the total.

Sam Houston State Struggled

Sam Houston struggled in the last game against Jacksonville State and the offense was a big reason why. Sam Houston State scored only 11 points and they ended up losing by 10 points. I’m backing Baylor here. I get the reasoning for looking at Sam Houston as this could profile as a letdown spot for Baylor after their big win over Arkansas, but this is Baylor’s first true home game of the season, and when Baylor was at home last year they took care of business and won by double-digits every night. Sam Houston is a great C-USA team, but we saw the Bearkats get drilled in their first step-up game against Nevada. The Bearkats have gone 39.5% on third down and 10-13 on fourth down so far this year. Hunter Watson is the starting quarterback for Sam Houston, but he is dealing with an injury and is questionable. Watson is expected to play, which will give a huge boost to the offense. 

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are 3-4 (2-2) this season after they defeated UTEP by a score of 14-10 in their last game. Sam Houston vs Louisiana Tech Prediction 

Sam Houston is expected to get their starting quarterback back for this game, after he missed last week, which resulted in only 10 points being scored. The Bearkats have been fantastic this season and Watson has a lot to do with that. Louisiana Tech has won two of their last three games and Bullock has been pretty good at quarterback, but I think they are going to struggle on both sides of the ball here. Take Sam Houston at home.

Also, Sam Houston State is 2-0 ATS this season when favorites of 5 or more points, and they’ve won those games by an average of 20 points. I’ll side with the Bearkats and the chalk, that’s just under a full touchdown.

The FIU Panthers are going to have no issue getting the job done here against the UTEP Miners. UTEP comes into this game with an 0-6 record, and they have had major issues all season. UTEP’s biggest issue all season has been the offense, and they are going to really struggle to get the offense going here. FIU is going to end up cruising here to the victory. Back IFU against the spread. 

Give me Western Kentucky here. Sure, Sam Houston State is good, but so is this Western Kentucky team, and even on the road they are going to find success. In the last game, Western Kentucky scored 44 points against UTEP and two games ago against Boston College they lost by only one point. Western Kentucky is going to find success scoring again here, and thy will keep this one close. 

FIU UTEP Under 47.5 -110 / Western Kentucky ML +110 // $10 bet pays $30.09

FIU and UTEP are going to be involved in a lower scoring game and that is going to be the difference here. This game all comes down to the UTEP’s offense and their lack of scoring, and their lack of scoring is going to be what keeps this game lower scoring. UTEP is going to struggle to get to even seven points here, and this game is going to stay under 47.5 points. 

Not often do I include the same side twice, but there is way too much value to pass up here. I really just am not sold on this Sam Houston team and their lack of scoring is going to be the difference here as Western Kentucky is coming out on top. Back Western Kentucky to pull the upset here.

He’s going to struggle against Sam Houston State, and he’s going to finish right around the 180 yard mark.

Hunter Watson Over 108.5 Rushing Yards

Hunter Watson has been playing really well the last couple of weeks, and that has included him running wild on the ground. Two games ago against New Mexico State, Watson rushed 12 times for 116 yards, and he’s going to have no issue again here. The UTEP defense is going to have no answer for his legs, and the over 108.5 rushing yards is going to cash. 

Jay Ducker Under 71.5 Rushing Yards

Jay Ducker has only finished over 71 rushing yards one time this season, and even against a UTEP defense I don’t trust, he’s not going to have the biggest game here. Two games ago against New Mexico State, Ducker finished with 20 carries for 38 yards and in the last game against Texas State he finished with 14 carries for 69 yards. Ducker isn’t going to have a strong game on the ground and will finish with 71 passing yards or less. It wouldn’t shock me if he finished with 40 yards or fewer.

The Sam Houston State Bearkats aren’t a great football team, so seeing them as a double-digit favorite says a lot about New Mexico State. Through three games, New Mexico State has done nothing well on either side of the ball and is 121st in scoring offense and 111th in scoring defense. Even Southeast Missouri State gave New Mexico State a run for its money in its season opener. Not my favorite matchup on Saturday, but I’ll lay the points with Sam Houston State as a fade of New Mexico State.

Sam Houston State Looked Good Week 1

Sam Houston State faced off against Rice in the first game and they scored 34 points on the way to the 20-point victory. At the end of the first quarter, they were up 17-0 and they never looked back on the way to the victory. Hunter Watson completed 16 of his 27 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also was the top rusher putting up 15 carries for 57 yards. 

John Gentry also had a strong game finishing with 14 carries for 56 yards. Qua’Vez Humphries caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. In this game, the offense is going to need to get out to a fast start and they are going to need to try and really put the pressure on. Sam Houston will take on Hawaii and New Mexico State after this game.

UCF Ran Up The Score

UCF faced off against the New Hampshire Wildcats in the first game and they were able to secure the 57-3 victory. In the first quarter, they only scored six points but they started to pile it on in the second quarter putting up 23 points. Former Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson leads the pack now and he completed 7 of his 14 passes for 164 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. 

UCF ran wild and there were five different players that put up at least 40 yards on the ground. RJ Harvey finished with 11 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Peny Boone finished with seven carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. In this game, they are going to need the offense to step up again with their running wild on the ground. UCF will face TCU and Colorado following this one.

UCF vs Sam Houston State Prediction

This total is a little too high. UFC showed in the first game they are going to want to be a run-first team, and Sam Houston State is going to find a way to slow it down a little bit. With the running game happening, that is also going to burn the clock. Sam Houston State is going to really struggle to move the ball and that will be the difference here.
