I’m on the Gamecocks here. Middle Tennessee got the win over Kennesaw State. Congrats. Who hasn’t? And while it’s crazy to say, Kennesaw’s defense might be better than Middle Tennessee’s. This is a HUGE number for a .500 team, but I honestly think it’s justified. Give me Jacksonville State.

In the last game against the Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State gave up 64 points, and they are going to really struggle here. Middle Tennessee’s offense has been inconsistent, but they are going to have no issue running up the score here. This game is going to be higher scoring and the over is going to cash here.

Give me Troy Trojans getting the 13.5 points here against the South Alabama Jaguars. Even though this might not be the most popular play, this Troy team has been competitive. This Troy squad was beating Iowa at halftime earlier this season, and two games ago against Louisiana-Monroe they gave up only 13 points. Troy is going to get the job done here. 

This total is too high between the two teams. Like stated above, Troy’s defense is going to step up and that is going to be the difference here. Look for both teams to try to take the air out of the ball and that is going to be the difference here as this game is going to be lower scoring. Back the under.

Middle Tennessee is struggling and after winning their first game of the season, they have lost four games straight. In the last game, the defense actually wasn’t all that bad, giving up 24 points, but the offense scored only seven points and that led to the defeat. Nicolas Vattiato had a strong game, completing 21 of his 31 points for 283, but he didn’t find the end zone, and that led to the defeat. In this game, Middle Tennessee is going to need to find a way to get more offensive production in the red zone. 

Middle Tennessee on the season is averaging 16 points, while their defense is giving up 39 points per game. The offense is ranked 124th in the league, while the defense is ranked 129th. I’ll lean toward Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers didn’t have too many issues against Eastern Kentucky in their last outing. WKU posted 467 total yards (351 passing), 7.3 yards per play, 25 first downs, and a nice 6-of-10 rate on third-down tries. On defense, the Hilltoppers gave up 266 yards (76 passing) and 13 first downs. The Colonels’ 10 penalties didn’t hurt, either.

As for Middle Tennessee, there was little chance of them staying close to Ole Miss—and they didn’t. The Raiders gave up 655 total yards (397 passing) and 34 first downs in the blowout loss. This weekend’s matchup will be significantly easier, but I still don’t think MTSU will cover it.

I’ll lean toward the Bulldogs here. We’ve got a very recent matchup between these teams to draw from: LA Tech’s 84-70 win on Saturday. The Bulldogs shot 48.5 percent from the field in that one along with 43.8 percent from 3-point range. The 42-31 rebounding edge and six turnovers helped as well. That makes 84 or more points in two of the last three games for Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs have won six of the last seven, and they’ve also won both meetings with the Blue Raiders this year (a 60-52 road win on January 11 was the other). It’s the Miners or pass for me. This one is a good choice for a parlay.
